While El Al has announced Dreamliner service from JFK, Newark, Los Angeles, and Miami, they have left Boston and Toronto on the schedule with their ancient 767s that have angled business class seats and overhead entertainment.
El Al has now announced that Boston will get 777 service from October 28-March 28. Interestingly, while the 777 does have first class, El Al is not currently selling first class seats on the route.
In Toronto, where El Al competes against an Air Canada Dreamliner, El Al will continue to use a 767. Air Canada commands a significant price premium in that market.
In other Tel Aviv route news, Norwegian willĀ start flying nonstop from Oslo to Tel Aviv starting in October.Ā You can fly on SAS from Newark to Oslo and on Norwegian from JFK to Oslo.
In December, OneWorld carrier LATAM will also begin 3 times weekly Dreamliner service from Sao Paulo to Tel Aviv. El Al failed to operate this route profitably in the past, but LATAM can take advantage of their connections to other cities that will help with traffic on the route.

Chicago!! Please! Will take an old plane.
Chicago and Baltimore/DC nonstop to TLV will happen. It’s just a matter of time until either El Al or United start it.
Why doesnt United or Delta start nonstop from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv? I know they would have competition from El Al but still…..
LA is a smaller hub for both of those airlines. They would rather route LA passengers through SFO/EWR/JFK.
At some point this year! Been waiting for announcement hope its DC….
Sounds good!, hopefully it will be from BWI not Dulles
They had Chicago, it failed miserably.
My understanding is that it stopped in NYC.
No wonder it failed! Once you’re making a stop there are much better and cheaper airlines to fly.
Yup. Stopped in NY for an hour or two. We sat on the plane while everyone else loaded on.
I believe at one point it also stopped in Toronto
Does Norwegian have an awards program or a partner awards program that you can earn points with for paid flights? should i go through the hassle of obtaining the points if i flew business class to lhr? and do other low cost airlines to london have awards programs as well?
and dan are you going ot make it to the ohel tommorow?
dan did you ever use choice preferred points to book into the preferred hotels group? do they have surcharges? becuase they are just as good as hyatt or hilton program if not as the hotels look very nice and the points value?cost are the same
i personally never used them at preferred hotels, only at choice privileges locations and there was no additional charge
too bad Montreal is not even considered…
Montreal has 2 carriers flying to TLV nonstop in the summer.
For coach Dreamliner is a bad dream. They put in too many seats. Never had such an uncomfortable seat for last 20 years ! No airline!
Airlines are all retrofitting their 777s with even worse seats in a 10 across configuration now.
Enjoy the old seats while they last.
No HT for the Norwegian news? BooHoo š
Does anyone know why Elal picked exclusively 787s vs. mixing in new 777W that hold more people? It seems like Elal is unnecessarily either reducing capacity at JFK or having to fly an extra frequency, which given their issues with profit as it is, they can ill afford to do.
