Update, 8/12: Several readers have had better success calling Delta or United’s customer service lines in Israel for flight reaccomodations on other airlines.
You can reach Delta at +972-3-513-8000 from 9am-5pm Israel time Sunday-Thursday (2am-10am ET) or United at +972-1-809-344-363 from 8:30am-6pm Israel time Sunday-Thursday (1:30am-11am ET) or 8:30am-1pm Israel time Friday (1:30am-6am ET)
Update, 8/8: United’s flights to Israel are suspended indefinitely. Read more here.
Update, 8/5: Delta has now canceled their flights to Tel Aviv through at least 8/31.
Their waiver has been updated as well. If you have flights booked on or before today, 8/5, for travel through 9/6, you can rebook it through 10/31 with no difference in fare. Tickets must be reissued by 9/10. Passengers can be rebooked on partner airlines like Air France or El Al.
Most foreign carriers have suspended flights to Israel, but Israeli carriers continue to be a lifeline and are adding flights when possible. You can read this post for strategies on finding tickets in and out of Israel.
You can also use El Al’s tool to view flights from Tel Aviv here and to Tel Aviv here.
Update, 8/1 at 8:30pm: As predicted yesterday, United has now canceled its Newark to Tel Aviv flights through August 31st and Tel Aviv to Newark flights through September 1st.
Alas, there goes our family’s summer trip plans, we had business class saver awards that were rebooked from a cancelation earlier this year, which are now canceled again. Back to the drawing board…
I’m just happy that I was able to visit the holy land earlier this year!
Update, 8/1 at 4pm: Delta has now canceled flights from JFK to Tel Aviv through at least 8/9 and Tel Aviv to JFK through at least 8/10. A waiver is in place and passengers can be rebooked on partner airlines like Air France or El Al.
Several other airlines, including the Lufthansa Group, have also suspended service to Israel.

Update, 5pm: Delta has now issued an official waiver. If you have flights booked on or before 7/31 for travel through 9/6, you can rebook it through 9/6 with no difference in fare.
United has not issued any official waiver.
Update, 4pm: United has now officially canceled Newark to Tel Aviv flights through August 7th and Tel Aviv to Newark flights through August 8th. Additionally, they have stopped selling Newark to Tel Aviv flights through August 15th and Tel Aviv to Newark flights through August 16th. Expect those flights to be canceled in the coming days.
Update, 3pm: Readers report that Delta is rebooking passengers onto its partner, El Al.
Update, 2:40pm: United has provided DansDeals with the following statement,
“Beginning with this evening’s flight from Newark Liberty to Tel Aviv, we are suspending for security reasons our daily Tel Aviv service as we evaluate our next steps. We continue to closely monitor the situation and will make decisions on resuming service with a focus on the safety of our customers and crews.”

After Israel’s assassination of Hamas top political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut, US airlines are once again suspending their flights to Israel.
Delta has canceled its JFK to Tel Aviv flight today and tomorrow and its Tel Aviv to JFK flights on Thursday and Friday.
United has canceled its Newark to Tel Aviv flights from today through August 6th and its Tel Aviv to Newark flights through August 7th.
If Iran or its proxies escalate the war, I’d expect those flights to be further delayed.
When Iran responded to the killing of its generals in Syria with hundreds of killer drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles, the US airlines suspended service to Israel for 2 months.
DansDeals has reached out to both airlines for comment and will update this post if the airlines respond.
US airlines have to overnight their crew in Tel Aviv, meaning that they are the first to cancel flights when it appears the war will escalate.
Lufthansa will be adding stops in Larnaca on its flights.
Once again, El Al is operating as normal and is really the only option worth booking until the war is over.
Let’s all pray for the safety of Israel and her inhabitants, along with a return of the hostages, and victory against Iran and its Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi proxies. May we experience true peace in the holy land and around the world very soon!

Reap what you sow
Exactly. Learn the lesson say NO to Untied.
just messaged United for rebooking:
“Thank you for verifying. I understand that you are concerned about your flight being cancelled. However as of now, United doesn’t have any travel waiver this being issued that we can use to rebook their flight. Wherein for any changes now, possible miles, taxes and fees may apply.
What I recommend is to wait for United’s announcement for the travel waiver so that you will be able to avoid paying an additional miles or additional taxes and fees for rebooking.“
Try using IROP as a reson to get an accommodation on another flight, especially that there is no waiver that says anything regarding the war…
Try with a uneducated rep.
Elal price gauging again? Buy their stock
That a really an unfair comment. You have no idea what their costs are or what they have to do to keep flying.
No it’s not. They really are taking advantage.
For decades now, airline ticket prices have been dynamic. As any flight fills, prices rise. When El Al flights fill, prices go up. With few others flying, they rise more rapidly.
El Al is the best way to fly! I learned this because no other airlines would fly to TLV. I was Gold with both United and Delta. I am now platinum with El Al. I am not looking backwards!
Since you fly often, how would you rate El Al ? Looking for recent feedback.
Has there been confirmation that Israel was the one that assassinated Ismail Haniyeh?
LOL… I suppose it was just a coincidence that it happened a couple hours after the assassination in Lebanon, huh? Of course Netan. did it because he has no desire for the hostilities to end.
Who does have a desire for the hostilities to end? When will they end? What will be the result?
israel didnt claim responsibility for haniya assassination. YET.
maybe your starting statement should read
After Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukrin in Beirut and the assassination of Hamas top political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran…
100%
Are the European airlines better? or they will also cancel fast?
United rep said all of their partners also have canceled.
That’s incorrect. HUCA.
Correct that’s what I did. First United agent told me they could only offer me a non stop flight on August 8th wouldn’t refused to redirect me to Europe so I could find my own way from there. Next agent got me on a flight tomorrow through Brussels
With which airline? Elal?
It was Brussels airlines but that got canceled this morning. I am now booked to Athens and had to book my own flight from Athens on Israir
Can you explain? They said any of their partners also canceled flights to/from tel aviv for at least the next week and couldn’t find anything for me to book through europse. Since I need my son to get home asap, I asked for a refund and paid up the wazoo for a 1 way on elal.
Pilots Union driven. They are very anti Israel.
Wrong. They are afraid to travel to a war zone and they also have to pay more insurance.
Correct. The assassination in Tehran has again turned Israel into a war zone. There will likely be significant military action in Israel by the weekend. It is unrealistic to think a US airline would be willing to fly into a war zone. If you want/need to get to Israel now, you should be booking on El Al.
If Delta is cancelling, and someone is coming in from TLV-JFK (landing shortly), how are they supposed to get back to TLV on Sunday?
You can call Delta to see if they can rebook you on another airline.
I was able to get rebooked on elal by delta
You can do it yourself online
Dan- Isn’t Delta a partner of El Al? I’d think it’d be easy to get rebooked on El Al, no ?
So Delta is only canceling for 2 days worth of flights?
this way they don’t have to rebook everybody in the week that everyone wants to fly back for the zeman…
Keep on pushing everyone off and then there’ll be no flights available to rebook them on…
They save themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars doing it this way…piecemeal..
If Iran doesn’t respond, that would allow them to resume sooner.
But yes, I expect that to be extended.
I call them and all they say is well.
“We can’t do anything until your flight is officially canceled.”
So I tell them, but if you don’t cancel it until 2 days before, then there’ll be no fights available to get back for another 2 weeks after that!
and do they care?
Of course not.
I just had the exact same thing with them. They don’t want to refund me and they don’t rebook yet for end of Aug.
im stuck in israel now. my flight was thursday morning.. what do i do now?
@dan – please give me ideas
Call the airline and ask for alternate routings.
extend your stay and enjoy 🙂
So annoyed with united. I think it’s only El al for now on. All I got was a refund for half the ticket. They wouldn’t do anything else.
hi dan, thanks for all the hard work you do by posting these.
So we arrived from israel last week and are set to fly back to israel after Labor day, all on united.
my concern with that also being around RH elul and yeshiva seminaries, etc, and they have not yet cancelled the returns. based on past experience with “the war” how would you recommend we proceed and being proactive?—-
a one-way elal return flight from
anywhere after tisha b’av through september could be $2,500 and up x 3 seats.
so not really in the cards
is there ever a situation that would warrant united moving us over to elal? our kids have school and we have a family wedding.
Until they officially issue a ‘waiver’ they won’t do anything.
Hope the flight tonight will leave
Have a JFK-TLV flight August 14th. Dan, what do you think are the chances?
41.586%

@dan, what a horrible thing to suggest, “if it’s critical that you fly, until the war is over.”
People can and should visit and move to Israel now more than ever. If you cant get a nonstop fight then stop in Europe. But please, dont advise people not to visit Israel now!!
Where did I say not to visit?!?
I said book El Al.
I thought you inferred that the only reason anyone’d fly to israel now is if it’s critical.
Maybe you meant if it’s critical then only trust elal.
You should be g’benched.
Correct.
Many people are having success getting rebooked on elal from Delta flights
Will United issue full refund for cancelled flights?
Yes
How does it work if you flew one leg of a roundtrip and then they cancel the return flight? I know you can have them reroute but what if you don’t want to take any of their offers will they give 50% refund?
@Dan If I booked a flight with Delta and flying with their partner, do they still keep you on that flight?
Sure, why not?
Dan, I have a United flight from TLV on Aug 8, which is technically still flying. Should I push for a refund now (with huca) so I can rebook elsewhere, or stick it out until it officially gets cancelled??
Doubt you’ll get that.
does united rebook on el al?
If you get lucky, try (and HUCA) and let us know
booked united with amex travel.
Which one do i call for rebook or refund?
My Aug 7 flight on united was canceled
@Dan Do they only cancel non stop flights that they actually fly to Tel Aviv or any flight that they fly one leg of the trip (I e. to Europe) even if the flight to Tel Aviv from Europe is from LOL or another airline that hasn’t canceled? Or do they cancel any flights that’s booked through them no matter what?
Just the nonstop of course.
What I assumed but wanted to make sure
i booked from us to Rome on aa (w/ miles) & separate ticket Rome to TLV on ElAl, in 2
-3 weeks, then return end of Aug TLV to Rome w/ ITA & separate ticket Rome to JFK w/ aa.
Is it suggested to keep the booking in these times?
Tnx
Is Italia (ITA) airways affiliated with any of the cancelled companies? Flight is tomorrow morning leaving TLV?
Thanks
My son is in Rome now, and his ITA flight into TLV was cancelled. The rep said they cancelled all flights for now.
“Critical that you fly”
Perhaps you can share the clip where the Rebbe strongly encourages people to go to Israel in 1991
You are misreading that, but I deleted it as apparently it’s confusing.
https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/israel-flights/delta-united-canceling-flights-israel/#comment-1721294
does the israel aviation law apply in this situation?
Unlikely.
i have just read somewhere that if other airlines are flying then they still have to compensate you.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
Will Isra air also cancel their flights from Greece to Isreal
No they r just like elal
Dan – thank you for the update. I have a flight to TLV with El Al on August 7th. Did El Al cancel flights at the beginning of the war? Any sense for if they will cancel or continue flying?
El Al never stopped flying during the war.
Am yisroel chai! deja vu all over again, this time hopefully we will bring this war to an end and shalom in Israel!
I had a flight for this coming sunday on united which was canceled. But they put me on a flight with lufthansa with a stopver in munich and they didn’t charge me anything
Does Delta reimburse for the stay until the next flight?
Help please! Delta won’t help me with rebooking and is telling me that the flight hasn’t been cancelled! What do I do?
Had a flight to tlv tonight – cancelled
Rebooked on August 7 – cancelled
Rebooked for August 11 – still on time but flight not showing anymore on United site
To ewr August 5th – cancelled
Rebooked on 15th – still on time but not showing as available to book on site
Dan is it possible that these flights come back online after they were removed and my flights still show on time?
Any chance they would book me on elal?
As I wrote in the update, expect them to be officially canceled.
They will not rebook on El Al, but you should be able to get rebooked on a Lufthansa Group airline once it’s officially canceled.
Even for business?
Just spoke to United and they have explicit instructions not to rebook on LH. I had to rebook out of Athens but need to get there on my own dime
They did rebook me in Lufthansa but with a stop over and in economy
I cancelled that and in turned took August 7 which now became August 11
Re:The delta waiver.
Does this mean that I could rebook my delta flight on september 2nd on ELAL? For free?
Call your ticketing agent to check on your options.
The delta app showed me the possibility to rebook for free on elal 2 days later and I went thru the process and got an error message after clicking on “completing purchase”
So I called delta waited an hour to speak with a rep then he put me on hold for 35 minutes to soeak with ticketing team and rebooked both my sons’ tix BH!
Try Twitter next time to save tome
Thanks
They responded to your dm on Twitter?
In Israel now on a ElAl ticket and returning mid-august, any chance ElAl would open the possibility to change return flight with no charges/fare difference?
Hi Dan,
If I have a round trip El Al ticket, but one leg of the flight is operated by Delta – would El Al rebook me on their own flight should Delta cancel?
Thank you
Hi Dan, Thanks for your time
I have 3 relatives going from TLV to NYC via Madrid with Iberia. Right now its not cancelled but if it gets closer and they do cancel, do you know if they will put them on a different flight or compensate the money
I wish they can go EL AL,
we would love to give them business however their costs are prohibitive
Dan,
If I book delta for 2 days before Sukkot and it gets cancelled eBay are the chances they will
have availability to rebook me on Elal and still get me to Israel before Sukkot?
Close to nil.
Dan,
If I book delta for 2 days before Sukkot and it gets cancelled what are the chances they will
have availability to rebook me on Elal and still get me to Israel before Sukkot?
Hi, just wanted to let people know who need a flight out of Israel or in about a very good cheap option.
There are 5 daily flights from TLV to Paris and vice versa. You can book any airline to Paris (CDG) – not to expensive. (United sometimes avail with lifemiles) then self transfer to a El Al flight. The flights from NYC area arrive in the morning hours then there is a 1pm a 3pm and 5pm and more flights from Paris to TLV. This is most times not very expensive as there are 5 Daily flights on El AL
This also applies if coming from TLV. Book El AL to CDG then a CDG to New York area – This way you mite have to stay overnight in Paris. But I think there is a El AL 6am from TLV to CDG then you can make it on the United CDG to EWR at around 1pm I think.
The only hard part about this is that you have to self transfer. Meaning collect your luggage go thru passport control and then switch terminals. There is a airtrain but I just called an Uber to take me from Terminal to Terminal in Paris. I did this idea and it really wasn’t a big deal and it was very cheap just give yourself 3 hours time at least on the ground in Paris.
Hi,
I bought a round trip ticket on United (TLV – EWR) using United points but put the taxes on my Platinum. We are now in middle of our trip and our return flight was just cancelled. Would we be eligible for any type of insurance (Ie Food, housing, difference in fares etc.)
Thanks so much!
Just checking on United.com and Matrix — no United flights showing until August 31st.
Just wanted to add if you had a United flight you can try to switch it to EWR to CDG instead. Then you’ll only pay for the El Al trip.
Also some times on United if you try to change to CDG and you add a destination Such as Frankfurt it can come out even cheaper and you’ll get some credit
Why can’t united Delta fly till Cyprus or Greece or Munich and have partner airline operate united plane from there
@Dan
I have a flight booked for my wife and I tomorrow night with a low budget airline called HiSky with a stopover in Bucharest. Do you have any idea if this will end up getting canceled?
Sorry TLV to JFK with a stopover in Bucharest
I have a flight to Israel with a stopover in 2 weeks iyah. My return flight is with united seotember first iyH. Does that mean the united is cancelled?
Thank you for posting my husband was at the airport ready to fly to New Jersey when I read this he was going to fly home Sunday United said nothing about his return flight being cancelled I called him and told him to check with United He cancelled his flight last night and his return flight. Back home last night. We won’t be flying United even though we have lots of points
Can you please tell me – if a Virgin flight LHR to TLV is a codeshare with ELAL and it’s really an ELAL flight/plane, would Virgin be allowed to cancel the flight? Specifically booked Virgin from JFK to TLV with stopover in LHR, with the knowledge that the LHR to TLV portion is really ELAL. Thanks.
Did you get an answer to your question? I have the same question — booked a flight for Sukkos, TLV-JFK through Delta, “operated by El Al Airlines” (with an El Al flight number). If Delta cancels, will I still be able to get on the El Al plane?
Delta agents have been pretty useless.
I finally succeeded changing my ticket using the self online into DL LY codeshare. First round I received an error and the agents repeatedly (including supervisor) insisted this was ghost space and I shouldn’t have been able to change the flights.
Useless as always.
Have a direct flight to TLV on United 2.5 weeks from now. I’d like to get a head start on rebooking this, since I’m pretty sure it’ll be cancelled. I’m not sure if and how it’s possible, given the fact that United hasn’t officially announced cancellations beyond August 7th and no waiver has been announced like for Delta. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Lufthansa flight to next week in August 8th just canceled 🙁
Dan can you post some strategies for those on United booked flights stuck in the US or TLV. How do we get back to TLV on the return leg. Is the best bet to have them book you OW to Europe and buy a separate ticket from Europe to TLV?
That would be your best bet to get to NY or TLV
Hi,
I booked via with chase points two round trip business tickets with United that were canceled, will I be able to get the chase points redeposited? Please advise on best solution.
I am not planning on traveling, just don’t want to end up with an untied travel credit.
You should get the chase points back but it can take time. If you don’t see them after time has passed call chase and they should get it for you (I’ve had this with other airlines)
My son was supposed to fly Delta from JFK to TLV. It was cancelled, and we rebooked him on Delta into FCO, with ITA going to TLV. The ITA flight was just cancelled too! He is stuck in Rome now. Any suggestions? My inclination is to get him on a flight back to JFK.
Buy an El Al flight from there to Israel?
Thanks, Dan. Unfortunately, ElAl doesn’t have anything available until Sunday!
if I booked delta premium select and used a GUC and clear instanly and ticketed for delta one, where would they rebook me on elal, premium or delta one?
i chatted with united and the rep forwarded the email that united sent to all the reps. it says clearly not to rebook on partner flights because they will also cancel soon.
Heard El-Al just canceled flights as well… not sure for how long
Do you think Air France will also cancel tonight?
Booked El Al 08/19-08/27 2300 per ticket
The Link to apply doesnt work
Is ElAl allowing free changes or cancellations if you dont want to travel now because of the situation?
Looks like United is now cancelling the August flights – as Dan predicted. My Aug 12 flight is cancelled.
We are supposed to fly delta from dtw with a stopover in cdg day after Tisha baav. We are only going in for shabbas on our way to the fresh kosher RCL cruise leaving out of Barcelona. Unsure if I should change to fly direct to Barcelona and skip shabbas in Israel (I really want to go, but worried about getting out Sunday morning, although that flight is elal) and also wondering if I choose not to, will my flight will be cancelled since it’s through Europe. Thoughts anyone?
Does anyone know, if I booked a ticket with first leg, TLV to London with El Al, and 2nd portion to US with Virgin, whose cancellation rules will that be subject to?
I bought the similar ticket for my son, TLV-LHR-JFK on 8/27 and JFK-LHR-TLV on 9/4
TLV-LHR operated by El Al, so that should happen.
The LHR-JFK and the JFK-LHR are both on Virgin, so they should also happen.
The problem will be the final leg: LHR-TLV on Virgin on Sept. 4th. That may not happen.
Would Virgin switch him to an El Al flight from LHR-TLV (not sure what their schedule is)?
Most likely since they partner
When should I reach out to them? And far as I know, they’re still flying in and out of TLV.
Probably the booking carrier cancellation policy
Not sure what you mean by this ^
@dan – we are visiting NY from Israel for the summer, we booked on Chase points.
1. will united refund our chase points?
2. if they will not refund, can we rebook a new destination – ie Paris then fly from Paris to Tel Aviv.
If you request a refund you’ll get your points, if you want you can be re-booked to Europe
@Dan — what rebooking options are you being given? I also got one of the saver J award for August. I booked through Air Canada — they rebooked me on a EWR-YYZ-MUC-TLV but I’m hoping to get them to rebook me on a September direct EWR-TLV flight instead. Just want to know what United is offering in case that’s persuasive to Aeroplan.
Try to get united to rebook you since they canceled.
YMMV — as a point of reference for those in a similar situation.
In my case, I had a J Saver fare booked on Aeorplan as a *A business class fare. With the cancellation, AP changed the reservation to EWR-YYZ-MUC-TLV (all legs except the last being AC metal). The reservation was no longer showing up on United since it no longer had any United segments.
I called Aeroplan — got a great agent. She seemed to know the rules well. Since there were no saver award J seats available in September, she had to call Air Canada ticketing. They were able to *open* new United Saver space so it could flow through to Aeroplan and they could accommodate a change. The fare rules for an international award accommodation only allowed them to book me up to 1 month after the original departure date.
After 45 min with the agent, my ticket was reissued direct on United in September.
We have 2 biz class on United. Will they give us biz class on Elal?
1% chance, ask them to rebook to Europe and book onward flight separately
Where in Europe would you suggest? Germany?
Athens. Many options for onward connection.
Dan, would you know if amex platinum travel protection would apply in this situation to rebook a united flight to a El al more expensive flight?
Probably not, all travel insurance are excluding war.
Dan
Was supposed to travel with three tickets on 8/18.
See as you wrote the flight is now canceled. I called up to rebook in June. They told me I could only rebook within seven days of the canceled flight.
I told them that you’re not flying within seven days. They told me tough luck take your miles back and walk away.
Is this correct or should I write to the DOT?
HUCA and HUCA again… they’re wrong
My flight the day after Tisha B’Av is cancelled but when I go on to cancel it says “Total refund to future flight credit”. I didn’t click. Why wouldn’t I get credit to my credit card?
Dan, or anyone who can help-
My daughter is in Israel now and has a ticket with united (partnered with air canada in 2.5 weeks) from TLV to newark.
How do I go about making sure she can make it back home? What should be my first step?
Is United rebooking on ELAL ?
They wont put you on El Al. If you can convince them they might put you on Aegean to Athens then onward to EWR. Otherwise you can ask them to put you on United ATH-EWR and buy your own ticket to Athens ~$125.
United is not rebooking with El Al. You will likely need see what options you have to fly her on a one way ticket on an Israeli Airline (like El Al or ARKIA ISRAELI AIRLINES or ISRAIR AIRLINES) to a European destination (Like Athens / Barcelona/Rome/Vienna) and then have United/AC rebook her from there.
Can anybody help,
I booked a roundtrip thru Elal website. Return ticket is beginning of sep 2, Delta Business J class.
Delta said to call Elal and Elal says that they don’t need to class match the business class ticket. Only flights booked thru Delta get class fare matched. Does that make sense that I just lose my business seat unless I pay for the fare difference?
File a complaint with DOT. Say they are willing to book on another airline (El Al but won’t book you in the same class your ticket is for). You shouldn’t have to call El Al – delta should be taking care of rebooking you on El Al.
My son had a flight leaving tlv to ord on united (through EWR) on the 14th. That was cancelled – I called United just now and they said they can rebook him on an el al flight and went and refunded the united flight without telling me that I was going to have to pay separately for the elal flight. which btw they were upcharging from the amount we saw on El al’s website. Do I have any recourse to get United to pay for that el al flight?
Will ElAl add more flights from NY?
It doesn’t work like that. They don’t have spare planes and don’t have extra landing/takeoff rights.
Called United to have my payment refunded since they cancelled flight. Was told that since it’s a nonrefundable ticket, they only give a credit. Doesn’t seem to make sense since they are the ones who cancelled the flight!
HUCA
Called United. Offered to fly me to NYC – Athens and I would need to purchase a separate ticket to TLV. Refused to book me on partner flights (e.g. Lufthansa group) “as it is not safe for the pilot and crew in TLV”.
Well, that’s what Lufthansa’s crews are saying.
Yes. The intent of the comment is just to give another data point for those trying to rebook on what options are being offered.
How do I get them to move my delta flight to elal on Aug 11?
They said the flight is not cancelled as of now.
Any update on Swiss air any changes? as i have booking from Rosh Hashana
my children were scheduled on first united flight that was cancelled from ewr to tlv. travel agent rebooked them same day with stopover in brussels. Flight was delayed 2 hours, missed connecting flight. then all flight to tlv from brussels were also cancelled, they did not make it to tlv. travel agent says if because of war can’t get reimbursed. Is that true?
Dan, why don’t you get United to give you tickets with a stopover in Europe so you can make it to the holyland?
They’re not rebooking onto other carriers, but it can be changed to Europe.
Europe is not the holy land. 🙁
my condolences.
Have a great rest of the summer wherever it takes you.
Any advice for someone in Israel booked to go to JFK on 8/20 but wanting to leave AsAP? Original booking was on Delta but has been reschedule to elal through delta waiver
Ask Delta for an earlier flight?
Weird. Flights in September on United only showing direct flights for non mileage (cash) bookings. Why would that be?
I have a daughter and friend with el al tickets to return home on Aug. 18. Friends mother is desperate to see them out earlier. Any ideas?
Check to see if any earlier flights have availability. Most likely not, though, as many are re-booking flights onto el al.
Can anyone please chime in if it’s safe for three girls to have a stopover in athens
I’ve flown recently through the Athens airport. Feels perfectly safe.
I sent 3 boys through Athens in May. They didn’t have any issues BH.
Dan if I rebook my son on a United flight stopping in cdg then El Al to Tlv how much time does he need in airport he’s going to have to get luggage customs. Then recheck in
Did delta cancel all there flights till sep 1 you cant book it bock online till that date?
Hi! I really can’t complain, but just looking for some advice from DDF.
My United (operated by Austrian) flight from TLV to JFK on 8/1 was canceled DURING CHECK-IN. I scrambled to find something else and made it by buying a ticket to Rhodes and from there Finnair to JFK via Helsinki. I am trying to get United to compensate me for the additional $1500 I had to pay for these one-way tickets. Does anyone have any advice on how to increase my chances of succeeding?
Thanks for the advice and apologies as I know I am in a much better situation than many others.
I imagine they know more than what we are being told. Imagine the repercussions here for what this assessment means for Israel security as very pessimistic
Dan, please have a look at flightaware.com for El Al flight 12 that departed 8/5/2024. Showing as diverted to BEY !?!?!?
What’s up with that? Just some crazy error for flightaware ?
Been happening since 10/7. GPS spoofing by Israel.
flightaware tracks via GPS ?
I booked a mileage ticket earlier today (before the announcement was made) on delta for 8/18. I called to get rebooked on elal and they said they can’t rebook mileage tickets on elal, only revenue tickets. @dan any suggestion on how I can get them to rebook me?
Call back when your flight is showing canceled.
HUCA.
They’re still saying they cannot rebook mileage tickets on elal. They claim elal is not a mileage partner @dan any idea why I can do here
Can we discuss the importance of patronizing el al, at all times. The security is better. The prices may not be as competitive. But israel needs our support snd we should show that by only flying el al to israel
My Delta flight is still showing as going/on time. How long does it take to get their cancellation notice?
If a Virgin flight LHR to TLV is a codeshare with ELAL and it’s really an ELAL flight/plane, would Virgin be allowed to cancel the flight? Specifically booked Virgin from JFK to TLV with stopover in LHR, with the knowledge that the LHR to TLV portion is really ELAL. Thanks.
No, Your OK.
Thank you
Have a delta flight booked from tlv-jfk, they are willing to put me on an ElAl flight but claim that the flights bookable to delta are all sold out they checked each day, first available is 8/21.
Is it true that they are limited which elal flights they can put me on or if there is availability someone there should be able to put me on?
my daughter is in america on a united flight they will only cover to europe trying to figure out best european city to get her back to tlv any ideas
Any way to see the el al availability tool for other dates?
$5,000+ to fly economy on United now in September
Hi Dan,
I flew with my family of 5 on United on 7/22, EWR –> TLV and am (was) supposed to return on Aug 22 flight back to the States.
As with all United customers my flight has been canceled (without notification of any kind ).
What do you suggest I do? I welcome the advice
#feelingstuck
Search google flights tlv to anywhere filtered to nonstop elal and then book a separate ticket from there. You can book a fully refundable ticket (or united awards) from there in case the elal flight gets delayed.
Delta canceled my girlfriend’s flight to NY for the end of August. We called Delta in the USA and they rebooked her on EL AL. At the beginning, they said they could not do it but after checking with a different department, the agent came back and said it was done.
An Ethiopian flight from ADD-TLV last night got diverted to BEIRUT!

HI,
Do you think virgin is going to cancel their flights as of september to israel? and if yes, would they rebook on their partner airline El AL >?
Delta is the only carrier that is flying direct to Prague from NY. I am going to Prague but not flying back to NY from Prague. If I book a one way with Delta to Prague , it will cost me about 110,000 miles. However, if do a multi city booking with the 2nd leg TLV to NYC, say in February 2025, the entire award is about 68,000 miles (this is all including discount for having a delta card). Will in the future(after completing the first leg) be able to change the date on TLV to NYC part ?
My delta flight which I booked thru chase is still showing active.
Going to try and have them book on elal but not optimistic. Why didn’t it cancel yet on its own??
If they can’t book elal should I just have them cancel?
update. delta changed me to elal. going to tlv with a stop in boston but coming home direct. originally both were direct.
Dan, seems quite strange my Delta flight to TLV in mid August still says it’s going/active. Would you know why this is the case?
Delta announced on Monday 8/5 that they are cancelling flights to TLV until 8/31. It’s been a week and my 8/15 and 8/25 flights have not been cancelled. Is that normal? They won’t rebook me on any airline as I booked a miles ticket but I’m hoping a cancellation will change that
Delta miles or chase points ?
They ended up cancelling over Shabbat. Booked with delta miles.
Good luck I’ve been trying to get rebooked since last week, I called Delta in Israel and they told be they’ve been advised not to help any passengers with flights originating from the USA
Lufthansa just canceled through the 21st
please let me know when Lufthansa starts flying to Israel again
Ok yesterday I called united, and was able to change my August cancelled direct flight to a connection flight via Frankfort for September holidays, United and Lufthansa
Will Lufthansa be flying in September?
I called the israel number. The rep says the same as USA reps. United’ll only fly you into those 3 cities and you’re responsible to get to TLV from there.
I told’m when i go on united.com it says I get 1 free change and when I try to change i see many options w/a stop (using brussels austrian etc) but it’s asking me to pay the fare difference. The rep said sorry. We offer 1 free change but you must pay the fare difference… (or fly to ath dxb amm, or take a refund)
United Israel number is busy
I have tickets for my family for the month of tishrei, just called Delta in the US, and they have b”h successfully transferred my entire family to EL Al for both unbound and outbound flight. the return is at the end of October.
With travel dates for Elul/ Tishrei? I thought it’s only through end of August?
Can anyone help me? I did most of my spending on a new ink card for a United ticket from Israel that was canceled, I would like to refund the money to my card, ( I booked a backup on Elal) will I lose my spending? will they claw back points?
Is Delta currently bookable to TLV through their codeshare with ElAl?
