- Valid on South African Airways for flights originating in JFK or IAD, not for flights originating in JNB.
- Flights from JFK-JNB are nonstop, flights from JFK-CPT have a stop in JNB, and flights from IAD-JNB have a technical stop in Accra or Dakar with no plane change.
- See this post for 12 nonstop flights from Johannesburg that you can book with Avios. Visit Kruger, tack on a flight to Cape Town or Victoria Falls, and have the trip of a lifetime.
This G class fare will earn 50% of the flown distance when credited to a program like United MileagePlus. That means a JFK-JNB flight would earn 7,969 miles round-trip.

Hey Dan , do you post when there are flight deals to Brazil?
Sure.

I just booked in March from Mar 4th-14th..now what? If I can book a flight to Victoria Falls..it looks like there are safari’s there..without having to drive 4.5 hours to Kruger.
Does anyone recommend any Safari tours, in Kruger or Victoria Falls.
What else is there to do in or around Johanesburg from a week plus?
Is it true that you need to get vaccinated before you go to Africa?
I’m an American who lives in Mozambique but frequently travels to neighboring South Africa. I totally recommend Kruger and the best safari tour guide is Andrew Hall with Nguni Africa. You can book safari’s, bed and breakfasts, or other accomodation through his business as well. He is a 4th or 5th generation South African and knows Kruger park and the animals in it better than anyone.
Mozambique has a wonderful Jewish community right?
I forgot to list the Nguni Africa website in my previous reply: https://www.nguniafrica.co.za
Most of the Safari companies in South Africa are a ripoff. You can easily book accommodations and self drive, or get game drives operated by the Kruger Park. see: http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/tourism/activities/game_drives.php
— In South Africa, salaries are on the low side — few hundred dollars a month, so somebody must be making an enormous profit from the overseas tourists…
Salaries are a few hundred dollars only for some non-skilled jobs. Of course there are ripoff safari companies, but there are very reputable ones as well. Sure you can self-drive or do a game drive operated by Kruger (which will have you in a vehicle with a lot of people and on a set time schedule that animals don’t always abide by!), OR you can hire someone like Andrew who runs Nguni and can custom-design your safari for the animals you want to see. He knows the park so well that he knows where you are most likely to see the animals you want to see. This is based on seasonal movements, weather…things that a self-driving tourist would have no clue about. I only mention Andrew because I know his clients are satisfied, but I am sure there are other reputable safari companies too.
From Victoria Falls you can easily do a trip to Chobe Game Park. I went there last July. From Victoria Falls, Livingstone, (Zambian side) to get to Chobe, I took a shared taxi to the Kazungula Border crossing. Cost 40 Zambian Kwacha (about $4.50 USD), 45 minutes for the 62km ride. Then a 5-minute motorized pontoon ferry across the 500-meter wide Zambezi river to Kasane, Botswana border post, at no cost. Then a 10 minute shared taxi to Kasane city center for 4 Botswanan Pula (about $.40 cents). I used a Safari Company based in Kasane, 5km from the park gate, by name of Big Sam Hubber. They charge 230 Botswanan Pula ($22) for a 3-hour game drive, and then another 200 Botswanan Pula ($19) for a few hour boat cruise on the Chobe River. (There is also a 70 Botswanan/$7 park fee per day). On the game drive, I saw tons of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, 4 lions, a black mamba, large herds of zebra, impala, wildebeest, giraffe, tsessebe, buffalo, dozens of species of birds, etc. Although the variety of species is not as much as in the Kruger, I did see more in a few hours than spending a week in Kruger.
No vaccinations required for the countries in Southern Africa — If you are going to the Kruger or Chobe in the rainy season (November to June) there is a small risk of Malaria, so one may choose to take Malaria prophylaxis.
incorrect , you do have to vaccinate for yellow fever if you go to zambia(LIvingstone – victoria falls ) ,and they wont let you fly to south africa , unless you can show that you were injected 10 days before ,
Zambia was declared a yellow fever free-zone by the World Health Organization in December, 2014. So no vaccination is necessary.
Is there a way to add a lap child for this deal?
