Air Tahiti Nui currently has amazing business class nonstop award availability between Los Angeles and Tahiti! Normally it’s tough to find 2 seats on any date, but currently it’s wide open!

They fly 787s on the route with 2-2-2 lie-flat seats.

This is available to partner airlines, so you can book this for 80K American miles each way with no fuel surcharges or you can also book this with Delta miles, though they charge about 100K miles each way and they add on about $84 in fuel surcharges each way.

You can book with AA miles online, though you’ll have to call Delta to book with Delta miles.

Sample nonstop availability from Los Angeles to Papeete when searching for 2 passengers is below. You can also connect from other cities. Use American’s advanced mileage search via this link on a desktop browser to get to this screen:

From Papeete you can take a ferry or short flight to the beautiful island of Moorea, to the stunning resorts of Bora Bora, or to the many other islands of French Polynesia.

There are evening and morning arrival times into Papeete, but the best availability is on the evening arrival time. If you do that you will have to overnight in Papeete as there are no later flights to connect to other islands in French Polynesia. You can stay at the nearby Intercontinental Tahiti near the airport with points.

Bora Bora and the Maldives are both famous for luxury resorts with incredible overwater bungalows. I’ve been to the W Maldives and the S. Regis Maldives, but I’ve yet to go to Bora Bora. That’s been partially due to how easy it is to find amazing business and first class awards to the Maldives, point deals that I’ve taken advantage of, and the ideal Maldives weather taking place during winter in the US.

French Polynesia doesn’t have options like Emirates and Etihad shower class, so business class on Air Tahiti Nui, Air France, and United are the primary options and they’re typically stingy with award space.

The weather in French Polynesia in the winter is quite rainy, peak season is from May through October during the dry season.

IHG has 2 properties in Bora Bora, Marriott has 2 properties, and Hilton has 1 hotel there. If you can find award availability at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa you can book right into an overwater villa.

IHG has hotels in Papeete and Moorea and Hilton has a Moorea property as well.

Papeete even has a Jewish community and an Orthodox shul, though unfortunately it’s not within walking distance of the Intercontinental Tahiti. There’s little information about it online, so I’d love to hear about it if you’ve been there.

Have you been to French Polynesia? Do you have plans to go in the future?

Any way to transfer from Thank You Points?

Was there a few years ago and got in touch with Emmanuel who is the secretary of the synagogue (as of 5 years ago). I never ended up stopping by because the times didn’t work out, but he was very responsive and helpful with any questions when i reached out via email

Went back in 2010, spent a few days in Moore’s at Hilton then shabbos by the shul in Papeete then a week in Bora Bora at s Regis and Hilton and then Papeete again for shabbos.

The shul is downtown and has a hotel right nearby. I recently called it seems the shul is still going strong but the family that hosted us for shabbos has moved.

Heaven.

I’m currently about to jump on a plane from Tahiti back to LAX. Just spent 4 days at the Conrad in Bora Bora and 1 at the Intercontinental.

Was utter heaven and completely serene. Staff are super accommodating. You can request a microwave to heat kosher food. And if u bring ur own pan, they even have Glatt Kosher meat at the hotel where they can make the food for u as well, as well as fish options. They allow you in the kitchen to heat the fire and watch the chef make your food if you require.

I used 72,000 FlyingBlue miles each way in business from LAX-PPT on AirFrance (FYI they dont have kosher food on this route specifically)

I used 3 “be my guest” vouchers from Hilton and one AMEX free night voucher for 4 nights at the Conrad and just paid for one night at the International to catch and early flight back to LAX. 🙂

D

How was the weather? No rain? What room did you get in conrad and in ic and how did you pay for them

Zev

I booked a regular room and paid to upgrade to overstep villa 40,000 XPF per night

Weather was amazing. Around 85 degrees. Can rain for like 10 minutes and then stop

D

Where was the kosher meat from? How did u manage to find availability on air France they never seem to have anything

john

Are there any kosher food options there?

yankel

george forman ?

Zev

The Conrad HAS Glatt kosher food (meat) there to make you. I just advise to bring ur own pan that they can cook the food in 🙂

rob

None, although there are supermarkets with labeled american products. Easily accessible on PPT, slightly less accessible on Moorea, and nearly impossible on BOB unless you’re staying at the lesser IC property.

Bring your own food

Aryeh

Are their any issues with bringing food into PPT/ Moorea? i.e. frozen / pre-made meals.

rob

Even uncooked meat should be fine.

AJK

Zev

D

A. Please update the post the st regis starts at 85k per night.
B. Is there any tn flights that have 1 2 1 config in biz? (@ajk )
C. Is it also 80k aa 100k dl per way if starting from nyc connecting thru lax? And do either aa or dl allow stops on one way or on rt award?
Thanx

AJK

A. It does not. It starts at 70K and can go up to 100K.
B. Yes, AF has a 1-2-1. TN and UA are 2-2-2.
C. Yes, same price from NYC. And neither AA nor DL allow stopovers on either OW or RT.

D

A. So it CAN cost 85k ….the point is its definitely not 60k . Thanx for updating the post
B . Does af allow stop on ow or rt?

ABe

Tix booked! Trying to book hotel using the Marriott app but it keeps sending me to the website to book it. Is there a way to finalize the booking on the app itself?

D

No. Who cares?

Work-for-ur-muny

If it’s “Hurry!”, how did you have time to write up such a detailed post? Isn’t it a gamble that the deal will die even before you get to post it? Or did you perhaps have it (or part of it) written up elsewhere, and all it took was copy/paste?

Anyway, keep up your great work!

The Conrad has less availability than the Waldorf Jerusalem.

Scott

IC Moorea is currently on strike so beware before you book.

Eliraps

Make sure you discuss the dateline question with your LOR before visiting these islands on Thursday, Friday or shabos

Mitch Cumstein

I asked my rabbi this exact question. He just shrugged his shoulders.

S

I just messaged delta from the app and they say that one way from lax to ppt on tn is 125k plus 108.20 per passenger. Seems like it fluctuates

Jeremy

Still plenty of PPT-LAX available, but nothing LAX-PPT below 65k.
