Want to read more about Hawaii? My love affair with Hawaii started 12 years ago when I posted and grabbed a deal paying just $87 for airfare and hotel. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to spend several months between the stunning islands, which each offer a unique and wonderful experience. You can’t go wrong with any of them, there are just 2 things is to be careful of.
1. Don’t get stuck in Honolulu. I’ve heard from too many people who spent an entire week and never left the city limits. That’s just a shame, they may as well have gone to Miami Beach. While I prefer The Big Island, Kauai, and Maui to Oahu, there is still plenty to see and experience on Oahu as long as you leave Honolulu behind.
2. Don’t try to “do” several islands in a week. If you just have 4-7 days of vacation then you should stick to one island. There will be plenty to do to keep you busy and it will allow for some time to relax. There’s no need to add the stress of interisland travel just for the sake of “doing” another island. With 9 days or more to play with, it does make sense to experience more than 1 island.
As for which island is best, read on and decide for yourself! If you ask 5 people you’ll probably get 6 different answers 😀

We’re trying to book but the price isn’t coming up on Priceline! Is it still valid?
Can’t help you without knowing what route and dates you tried.
How long should I go for to make t worth it?
I’ve gone for 2 nights and I’ve gone for a month.
All have been highly enjoyable.
5-7 nights on an island is probably ideal. Good balance of activities and beach time. A week including travel time is perfect.
Correct.
Would need at least 11 days to make island hopping in Hawaii worthwhile.
At the same time, a week could be enough to go to Maui and then spend a night in HNL to go to Pearl Harbor etc. That’s what I did.
Can I book two overlapping itineraries and decide later tonight or tomorrow which to cancel (or cancel both)?
@Dan some of the inbound flights to BOS have a second layover in LGA. Would you be able to not continue on to BOS and terminate at LGA? Would it work with checked bags? Thanks so much!
Bags would go to Boston.
What is the airport in Maui?
OGG
What do you recommend for accommodations in Maui?
Any recommendations for a honey moon? hotels that will not break the bank? we would probably go for about 10-12 days so we can experience more than one island.
Thanks!
