Isn’t ElAl about the same price for those dates? Would you fly delta over ElAl?
United & ElAL are for $898.00
@dan: Is this a flash deal or it’s a sale that will be around til the sale is over?
Nov 23-28 doesn’t show up by me…
Not sure what the big deal is… It’s only $40 less than El Al and United. And United miles earned from the flight will be worth more.
How can I credit the flight to Alaska Air?
@Ariel:
El Al is more expensive and Delta has arguably better service and planes.
@shmuel:
Generally speaking you need to stay in Israel for a shabbos for these cheap fares.
@Moishebatchy:
1. $40 is $40. Especially with a family. This is the cheapest nonstop fare we’ve seen in a while.
2. Alaska miles are more valuable than United miles.
3. United is also going to the base fare system in 2015, so your best move won’t be earning United miles then.
4. El Al no longer earns any good miles.
5. Delta flies from JFK whereas United flies from EWR. That alone will create a preference for most.
@Shimon:
Just give Delta your Alaska Air mileage number.
These dates are valid for the bobov nesieh
Thanks Dan
Hi,
I tried and lowest is 879. How do I get the 857 fare?
ty
Dan Is this good way to use up Delta miles? They offer the option to pay with points where you get 1 cent value per dollar do you could get this round trip flight to TLV for 85K delta points. I know 1 cent per point isn’t a good value in general but for SkyPeso I think it’s pretty good use of 85K Delta points. What do you think Dan?
@sammy:
Which dates?
@Dan’s the man:
You’ll do better finding a better use.
They are Skypesos, but it shouldn’t be that hard to earn more than 1 cent per mile.
Otherwise you can do better just selling the miles to a broker.
How about FlyingBlue miles on this fare?
What is the best use of Alaska miles?
$898 ElAl was sold out long ago. Even though travel agencies currently advertise the $898 fare, its bait and switch since these prices don’t exist. Now cheapest tickets on ALAl are in the $1070 range. I booked these delta tickets last week and they are are a great deal.
@Gingi:
Seems like Flying Blue will only earn 25% miles, so Alaska is the way to go.
Alaska miles can be used on AA or Delta but the best uses are on airlines like Cathay or Emirates. No fuel surcharges on any airline except BA.
Plus Alaska even allows for a free stopover on a one-way award!
Thank you Dan for your post, it is much appreciated! I hope you don’t ever take any comments offensively. So many people out there appreciate all the posts that you post on the site, no matter what it is! thank you!
@Yitzchok: El Al sale fares of 898.42 USD are still available.
@Jack: This fare needs to be booked into “X” class of service. Right now fare rules are showing that these fares need to be ticketed by tomorrow.
Thanks Dan, These tickets are great for the Big Bobover Nesiah with the Grand Rabbi of Bobov in February
I bought an ElAl ticket for the Bobov Neshia mid February for the amount of $899, I can cancel with no extra fee is it worth going delta and saving $50 or paying the extra $50 and flying with ElAl, who has better economy class?
@josh:
I don’t usually 😉
Thanks.
@Naftuli:
What makes El Al coach better than Delta?
Either way 11.3K Alaska miles is worth about $200.
El Al points aren’t worth much and now you can’t even get AA miles for flying El Al…
Booked 857.42, HaShem should bless you
If I book with elal who should I credit my miles to?
@Ariel:
You too 🙂
@sg:
Unfortunately they no longer have any compelling partners to credit to. And points from flights credited to El Al expire after 3 years regardless of activity.
Sad state of affairs there. If I were working there I’d work on establishing a mileage partnership with Alaska if none of the bigger carriers wanted to play ball.
I thought they had a partnership with delta. I know delta miles are worth very little but at least it’s something. …
@sg:
They don’t.

I am looking to travel JFK to tel aviv non stop for one week any time from dec 23-jan 6.
Are any of your deals going to work for then?
If I have no other Alaska miles, will I be able to sell these to a dealer? Thanks
what class is this ticket?what would a plat member earn for this?
would they upgrade it?
i just booked on expedia leaving Motze Shabbes 12/6 returning Monday 12/8 no need to stay Saturday for this price
@David: Holy Cow. You’re just going to israel for 30 hours. Talk about a short trip. What do you have a chasuna Sunday night and 1 day of touring on Monday?
@Mark: No broker wants only 11K miles. Sign up the for Alaska Air credit card get the sign on bonus and then sell them.
@Hello: Yes this is a “side note” as it has nothing to do with this Delta deal to Israel. While it’s good they are taking Discover w/o any fees. I don’t think they will take any Visa/Mastercard without a fee. They are making a deal with Discover for this. The question is will this qualify for Discover’s 5% bonus category spend for “online” merchants. Now that Amazon Payments it gone we need a way to get the remaining $500 of online spend. Dan, any work if Evolves counts as online spend for Discover?
are there any business class deals ny to tlv
@dans this was a side note till you caught on
AT&T. Dan
I have. Around 200000 aa mile and would like to sell them. Where is my best option to sell them
Thanx dan
Off topic: anyone have any luck using AA miles to travel to/from the US to anywhere in Europe? All the advantage flights seem to be pawned off on BA, with huge fuel surcharges (esp. in the summer). Thx
Any idea what the cheapest way to get to Israel for Dec 19-Jan 6 would be? I can’t find *ANYTHING under $2k* for those dates, and I can’t change schedule (for a Bar Mitzvah).
Dear Dan!
TY always for trying for us!
CAN you HELP with a deal from TLV TO JFK?
Just want to clarify, Delta offers one free checked luggage on trips to Israel correct?
@Hello:
Would be nicer if we had MC/Visa back.
@Mark:
No.
@DL Platnium:
X.
6,912.
No free upgrades on flights like this.
@David:
Leaving Saturday is considering a Saturday stay.
@Dave:
A broker?
But AA is the strictest on selling miles and will likely shut down your account.
@Joetraveler:
It’s early to book summer travel.
But plenty of availability on Air Berlin.
@Debby:
I don’t make deals, I report them.
And deals from TLV are much scarcer.
@ss:
Correct.
hello dan
thank you for all your posts
is it possible you can get flights from toronto to tel aviv or london
there used to be some really good deals like 400 dollars to telaviv
can you get those again please
I tried some of those dates a few didnt work. The first that did -JFK 12/8 return TLV 1-20, a search with google flights got me the same results $858 Delta. Im not crazy about the return flight time.
@school girl:
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t set airline prices. I just report them.
@Daniel:
Would be more helpful to let me know exactly which dates no longer work so that I can cross them off.
@Dan
hard to believe that after all this time you still don’t have the pull to create ticket prices
Thanks Dan, we got them at this price, and we’re on our way in January!!
@Charnie:
Safe travels!
loved your comment to school girl. and to the EY lady. Da Ma Shetashiv.
Is there a strategy to search for AirBerlin award space that doesn’t involve the AAdvantage website? I find zero availability for return trips from just about anywhere in Europe to LAX (or anywhere in US) during June. I know this is off-topic….but thx
@Dan1: December 19 is a Friday. Are you sure that’s what you want?
@BoroPark Boy: hey! To my knowledge the grand rabbi is off to London…not sure where you’re picking up Israel. However a trip to Israel is grand even without a rebbe! Derech tzleichu!
Thanks Dan, booked for next week!
For some reason last night they were giving me a higher price- in the 950 range, but tried again this morning and saved $200 for 2 tickets.
@bigben:
Yes the Bobov Grand Rabbi will be in Israel.
IME you need to call. long wait. and maybe they can help.
@me: sorry but I just confirmed he’s heading to london. Don’t be fooled!
Thank you so much for sharing this opportunity! It’s a great price and a wonderful deal!
Try Orbitz…more availability than Priceline
Would you oppose flying with a Russian airline. As $610 is a great price.
Or stay safe and pay the extra $250
Thanks
