Update 3: Fares have gone up by $400.
Update 2: And we’re booked 😀
$1,784+120K BA Avios out of pocket.
Hopefully will be get 100K AA miles or BA Avios from the promotion, plus 41.5K base miles, plus 5.3K for purchasing the tickets=146.8K miles rebated.
Valuing the extra 26.8K miles rebated at $455 that means 4 business class seats cost a total of $1,329 or $332 per round-trip ticket!
———————————————————————-
Update: The price has dropped even further! This deal is valid from Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles, and more cities!
American Express is a DansDeals.com advertiser.
Well this is getting almost too good to be true.
Earlier today I posted how to get business class fares from many US cities to London for just $1,083 round-trip, so read that post first.
An eagle-eye commenter noted that on the page after selecting flight you can also use 30K Avios to knock down the fare to just $440:
That is a promotion called Avios part-payment.
You can’t use the 10% off Chase Visa code together with Avios part-payment. But that means you can book travel on American’s 77W aircraft.
According to BA it’s a regular cash booking that also earns Avios for the flight. It’s not considered a redemption like using straight Avios or Avios+Cash which is subject to award availability.
That means you’ll get 10,379 Avios for flying JFK-London round-trip.
Plus if you fly by 01/31 you can register here to earn an additional 25K bonus Avios.
Or you can register here for 25K bonus AA miles.
I can’t guarantee the 25K promotion will work with Avios part-payment, but I’m not seeing any reason why it wouldn’t.
Plus of course you’ll earn triple miles on the fare by using a card like the Chase British Airways Visa or the AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Card or the AMEX Business Gold Rewards Card.
In total the cost of the business class round-trip would be 30K Avios plus $440, but you should get back 10,379 base Avios+25K bonus Avios+1,920 Avios for the airfare=37,299 Avios.
In other words you’ll pay $440 and get back a net refund of 7,299 Avios…assuming that the 25K promotion works out.
But even if it doesn’t, the net will be just $440 and 18K Avios for a round-trip business class fare. And that’s a fantastic deal!
Cancellations are permitted within 24 hours for free over the phone. After 24 hours the fee is a whopping $500 per ticket.

What fare class?
@EJB:
I class for this fare.
any deals with this to israel?
is this offer only for business class? or i can benefit from this offer for economy too?
And now that you don’t use the 10% off will that work on AA flights too?
Dan you doing this?
Since when was avios part payment so lucrative?
Ba to city airport in a a318 would be kinda cool
What are cancellation policies?
What about if I wanna continue afterwards to Israel, can I book together or I need to make another separate itinire, and will have to claim my baggage in London then?
“The first departure date is outside the valid departure dates for CARDOFFERU” ?
@Dan:
Darn, if it were anything else I’d credit it to AA and get 45k AAdvantage for JFK-LHR (due to the AA longhaul bonus)
My result was:
1 Adult $638.00 taxes, fees and surcharges: $1,166.35 Total price* $1,804.35. What am I doing wrong? Your example is also showing a total of $1,404.35 after tax.
Can you get AA EQP for flying business ? or it wont apply ?
@abka: AARP Discount
Not getting the option to use that many avios. 7500 max
Does AARP have any other serious benefit?
nevermind, now i’m getting the option if its BA metal only
The real question is how to get an upgrade to first…….i heard their first = biz class……
@Dan:
I class should give 1.5 EQP on AA
Can I book the ticket using my BA aarp account for somebody else, and still get the discount ?
I booked the tickets for my wife and daughter(3yrs) and my daughter will not travel outbound i.e. IAH to LHR, will there be penalty for not showing up as when I try to book oneway i.e. LHR-IAH it is not giving this promo price.
These should also be upgradable to first for like 18k avios also, right?
@Rileywiles23:
Yes, just booked a friend to PHL-MAN with the $400 discount even thought he is flying by himself
If it’s upgradable, I’,m in……..
why anyone would bother with this when for a few more miles and some fuel surcharges you can go on Singapore Suites to Frankfurt..availability might be tough but i’m sure it beats the miles and cost hands down
@Dan:
@YMW:
OK I just saw the other post, so you can get 10353 AA EQP
code coming up as invalid for summer….i see travel dates are November 1, 2014 – March 31, 2016 for code
Rediplus: One answer: West Coasters..makes no sense to fly across the U.S. to get on a flight that last another 7 hours……
LAX-LHR is showing up for only $448.69, plus 30k Avios. Wow!
Dates I have check: Late Nov 2015 and Early/Mid Jan 2016
I just paid 892 for 2 passengers plus 60k Avios.
@dan, when I put in more than 1 passenger, it raises it to full price. did you see that?
@rediplus: What good is your flight to Franfurt if you need to be in London?
Does the fare vary by date of travel or should all dates within the promotional period be identical?
@Luckyluck: looks like it’s working on AA too. Which business class is better?
Dan: Anyway to upgrade (after confirmed booking) to First with Avios?
@why is it only discounting me $15 for using 13,290 Avios, not giving me other options
Any idea on date that work for NYC-Lon? Not finding much…
i cant figure this out… i am on the site can u direct me please
Sorry i refreshed and its good
Ugh and I just came back from a trip from london lol. Gah couldve used this but no point to make another trip there so soon.
Not able to verify membership here
What should happen after verifying? Redirect to booking page?
I think its dead .
how can i get the 30K discount offer, mine will only offer me 1,500, I have the points in the account
@Pls Help:
What city are you booking from?
Not able to verify membership. System’s overloaded.
Don’t have avios, have lots of Amex rewards, and Chase ultimate rewards points. whats the fastest and most worthwhile way to transfer??
@dan Are these tickets refundable?
dead! biz/club option dissapeard. only economy now!
@gotcha, Miami:(
Is there anyway of piecing together a trip to Israel with this offer ? I am looking daily for Business Saver. This would be great if able to.
Will only let me chose “economy” now
@Luckyluck: on the BA or AA site?
@Dan I am trying to book from MCO and i am only getting 7500 points
at the highest
it says you cant use the chase visa discount if youre using avios. is there any way around it?
also is there anyway to reserve a seat without a fee?
do you need an aarp account for this deal to work?
Trying to book from SEA and it will only let me use 15,000 avios for a $150 discount.
@Reddy: they will cancel her entire itinerary as its considered a no show. You cannot miss any part of the itinerary.
Trying to book SEA-LHR on BA site and max discount is 15,000 avios for $150.
Is there some trick to get the higher available discount?
is offer me maximum of 75$ offer from miami
y???
@turgutbey:
Seems like it only works from some cities, like JFK, ORD, and LAX.
Maybe book a sep Avios ticket SEA-LAX?
can I cancel these???
Hey Dan,
I started off searching JFK and the higher 30k Avios / $674 off option was available. Now it appears its capped at $75 off worth of Avios. Maybe it’s the dates but I’ve checked several city pairs and seeing same cap.
Anyone else have sample dates that work?
Will this work on OpenSkies to Paris?
I can not verify my AARP membership…. Any ideas why it is not working??
Am I the only one having trouble with the “verify membership” page? I have an AARP account and have logged in but whenever I click verify it just refreshes the page… not sure what to do!
Thanks DAN!!!
Got 3 tickets
i am not able to verify my membership
anyone willing to allow me to use theirs please?
so we can go home for pesach? Thank you
I try signing up for aarp membership. After entering all the info it keeps saying “processing…please wait…”
I tried this a few times, it may not like firefox. I think I will wait a couple of decades
@Zipped: I tried on BA website. Seems to depend which cities.
Hey Dan – Do you recommend BA’s A380 biz class product over AA’s 777?
booked 5 tickets r/t to london using 150,000 avios for $1,000!
Nice, has the itinerary to be roundtrip? Can I do multicity (open-jaw) and still get that discount, say JFK-LHR, but LHR-SFO when back (open-jaw)? Also, may I add a connection flight from regional airport, say GSO-CLT-LHR ? Thanks.
they do not hit you fees after you book the ticket?
If anyone can help by allowing me to use their memebership (my avios and credit card of course) please please call me at 347-948-4986 Thank you!
How do you get for $440, cheapest I see with aarp is around $1080
@bob: having the same isssue – anything to be done ?
I got one ticket and now for the second one, the price went up drastically. but I still see it available on AA website… anything I can do?
I booked but does anyone know if they are refundable or able to be cancelled?
am getting 846 RT. is it partially dead?
I tried booking for 11/16-11/18 the price that i get is above 5K and they don’t allow me to use Avios together with the promotion code, please help! thanks
A Saturday stay is required.
how did you get past the verification of aarp acount it just shuts down
@Dan: iu just spoke to AARP regarding the issue that doesnt let you verfiy your memberhsip – it seesm once you press “book now” its leaving their site and if it deosnt work becuase BA is not accepting it
valid for outbound travel November 1, 2014 – March 31, 2016
Dan, how did you manage to register your kids for the 25k bonus miles? If you create a household account, will the kids qualify for the promo as well? Thank you!
@Dan_Fan:
I registered them for the AA promotion.
@Dan: dan, am trying to book for my family but the AARP verification wont work so not allowing me to use that extra promotion – any idea?
its DEAD
do you know if this deal will work leaving from London
Can you book and change the date (one or two days different)
@levi:
False.
@dan its now priced from 4000 and UP
Dan, if you need anything while you’re in London, just let me know.
@dan its dead if we cant verify our membership
@Dan: well it dont work via AARP
Anyone able to get into the AARP login now?

I get crazy prices like $7k
whats ba infant charges (under 2)?????
How do I know if my AARP membership is working?
I can only find $661 for outbound and $944 for return. Is that with discount or without?
Is it hard to find dates with seats?
IT IS DEAD
@Dan: Thank you! Got 2 tix Houston to London for $897 total! Question: Do I need to credit the flight to AA instead of BA Avios to get the 25K AA bonus? (for some reason I can’t register for the 25K Avios promo…)
Dan i booked the flight and i registered for AA.
how does AA know that i fly to London on BA?
do i need to put my AA membership # or something?
works from LHR as well ?
@feeling left out:
Still bookable in business.
@a yid:
Still alive, need to stay over Saturday.
@Levi:
No its not.
@Andre:
@netlevy:
Yes, you would need to credit to AA.
Can I use AA miles??
I BOOKED ALREADY SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH DAN BUT I DONT HAVE ANOTHER 60k MILES (2 TICKETS) IN MY ACCOUNT, SINCE WITHIN 24 HOURS, SHOULD I REBOOK? TO SAVE THE EXTRA AND GET IT FOR THE 332 INSTEAD? I CAN SEARCH FOR IT AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE THEN CANCEL AND REBOOK RIGHT? WILL MILES BE REDEPOSITED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THEY WERE DEDUCTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER I BOOKED.
THANK YOU
How do I proceed for an infant?
I went to AARP website and used the portal through AARP website and it didn’t require verification. Just click AARP Discounts, find the BA discount, and click through the links. I booked family of 4 in June for $1800 + 120k Avios in Biz.

Anyone have experince buying tickets for baby not born yet?
I just put in the due date and last name twice (once for the first name).
Do you think the airline will accept that? and allow me to change to the right name and date after its born?
@tj
infant are 10 percent wtvr you paid for adult!
But i wonder if i make a booking with infant and i want to add later would it be 10 percent of what i paid today or they might hike it up?
Dead

@Tj:
Book them as a child in a seat.
@burach:
Seemingly, yes.
@Tj:
If it doesn’t let you just book a separate avios ticket nyc-ord.
@feeling left out:
Maybe the first name baby if usually fine.
@feeling left out:
Just book them a seat!
@dan did you sign up each of your kids for the aarp?
@Dan
Can I use AA Advantage miles to book this?
@Dan
If I book American Airlines flights and use my British Airways Credit Card do I still get x3 Points?
Also do I have to Register for the extra 25k points before I book the flight?
I made my wife a BA account just now and tried registering her but it said she is not qualified.
@shragi:
No, once you have AARP you can book anyone.
@Eli B:
No.
@Eli5757:
Yes.
No, she can enroll in the AA promotion.
booked iah-lhr already. can’t figure out how to get any other combo to work. every date i try from SFO or LAX doesn’t work and any flight from IAH to any other European destination (ie: MAD, VIE, etc) gets an error saying BA doesn’t fly from IAH- ___ i see plenty of people getting other itineraries, so… what am I doing wrong?!?
@eli it only works for existing members i tried doing that for my mother and it did not work
THANK YOU DAN!!! Booked a 5 day getaway for my wife and I, and felt the need to come out of the woodwork and thank you – been reading your blog for years and it is unparalleled. Thank you thank you thank you!
@dan do i need to use my ba account to book them?
@dan
dont wanna pay the extra money…..
@dan
on the other hand its probably worth it at this price
I joined AARP but can’t get verified. Any tips on how to get that step to work? Thanks!
what is everybody doing in London? am i missing something ?
Thanks Dan. I seached on your site but could not find a link to the AA promotion for children… can you PLEASE help… Thank you!
@Dan
Ya I made her an AA account and that did work.
Thanx for confirming all of that!
can i book with my aarp code if im not on that booking?
@Jey:
Nice, thanks for following and sharing.
@Dan_Fan:
It’s in this post.
@travel expert:
Yes.
@Dan:
booking a regular seat isn’t free. it will run another $440 plus miles.
how do I add him for 10% of what I paid?
@dan
now that i already decided not to put in baby and put in the last name, should i call them up to change with 24 hours? or should i just wait until the “mazal tov”?
I am trying to book a new ticket (with baby in own seat)(and then cancel the old) but prices jumped back up 🙁
THANK YOU
Dan, I did find the AA link and registered my kids. Now, will the promo work if I make the reservation thru the BA website? Thanks!
@tj:
Call.
But it’s not $440 plus miles if you get back the miles…
Either way, don’t you value not having to hold the infant at something?
@Anonymous:
You can call and ask what they suggest.
@Dan_Fan:
I’m hoping it will. At this point it’s hard to say anything definitive about the promo though.
@dan
i am flying after the 25k promotion ends so not really worth to buy baby own seat…
440 deal dead?

Looks like AARP is Economy only now.
Thank you dan for responding as usual so patiently to all of our questions!!!!!!!!!
I will try calling them now and hope they dont tell me “too bad, you gotta cancel the tickets…..”
Any suggestions about the new prices? or is the deal over with?
@Dan looks like the 440 deal is gone. now only showing for the original posted amount
@ travel expert
i bought tickets for april and returning May
However everything seems to be more expensive now
sorry i take that back
it is still working bh!
I don’t get it. How is everyone getting through this account verification thing? I have been trying for 2 hours….
(with different browsers)
hmmmm very strange prices coming up now
they cut out the pay and miles major discount but the actual tickets are much cheaper!!
feeling left out what days are you seeing?
woops 🙂 sorry for all my comments,
i was clicking on economy. 😀
i’m doing it all along over a saturday and i’m getting crazy amounts
The prices are heading north? AARP is no longer reducing lowest price flight? All my return flights are $950
Can someone please explain me how this works??? Can I book now for June? Any dates?
Is the part payment dead? I only see get $75 off for 7,500 Avios
is the entire AARP site down?
$2400 for 2 adults, 3 children (5,4 & 2) and an infant in business class.
Good luck to the other passengers.
is the deal from nyc to London still on? I am not sure how to do it
Booked JFK/PRG X/LHR In Jan, Thanks Dan.
I booked 6 weekends to celebrate our first marriage years.
London, Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, Madrid, Athens,
Dan Thanks your the best.
#wearefreqentfravellars (From now on)
@dan do you think it’s worth to book 6 months in advance for this price? What’s the probability of another deal. Very serious here as I’m about to check out, it’s currently 850 plus avois per ticket
Booked LAX-LHR in July for $850 +30k Avios, going to connect to an LHR-TLV flight booked separately. Thanks Dan!
Esther – book away I say.
Having problems with AARP website. Tries to verify membership and won’t do anything else. Seems stuck on that page and won’t allow me access to deal even though I am a member and logged in. Anyone else having problems?
Hi,
So I have 2 bookings to London for april, we Bh had a baby a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to add the baby but they said it’s 10% of a current fare which would be around $450! So my infant without a seat would cost more than my seat!?
Is there anyway around this?
