These fares are not on sale with miles, but you can pay for the ticket with “hybrid points” if you have AMEX or Chase points and a Business Platinum or Sapphire Reserve card.

Using AMEX points:

If you have A Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN you can get a rebate on the airline of your choice

You can switch airlines by chatting with AMEX, though it will be easier to switch before you have used the $200 airline spending credit that year.

The rebate is 50% if you opened or upgraded your card between 10/1/16-5/31/17 and is 35% otherwise.

You can login to your account and redeem AMEX points for travel here.

A $120.20 flight will be 12,020 points and you would get a 35% or 50% rebate making the effective cost just 6,010 or 7,813 points, a value of 2 cents per point. That includes all taxes and you can still earn miles for flying!

If you also have a AMEX Consumer Platinum Card you can use that card and get back an additional 4 points per dollar, or 481 points for this ticket, dropping the effective cost to 5,529 or 7,332 points.

Using Chase points:

If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve® card you can redeem points for 1.5 cents each towards travel.

You can view credit card offers by clicking on the “Other Credit Cards” tab on top of the DansDeals banner to view links for card offers. You can click on the link that says “View all card offers by issuing bank” and scroll down to view all card offers from the bank of your choice. Here’s How To View Credit Card Offers On This Site.

A $120.20 flight flight will be 8,013 points. That includes all taxes and you can still earn miles for flying!

You can login to your account and redeem Chase points for travel here.

MIMB

I think you mean a flight using UR will be just 8,013 points?

Izzy

Dan, you may want to add that both AA and DL offer kosher meals now in economy on transcon flights like JFK-LAX.

Andrew Lock

This is the first time I’ve seen E fares on DL for this route. Take AA if you have the choice.

MIMB

@Dan:

Not sure if it was a glitch, but it was first showing 40,001 points. All good now

Vancouver Boy

@Dan

Yes. Flew that route recently and I can confirm as a NON ELITE Delta flyer in Coach that kosher meals can be reserved.

In reality what’s served is more like a snack…

Izzy

@Dan:

Yes I can confirm too on both AA and DL, see boarding area and other blogs multiple reports on it.

Izzy

Not sure about AA with Kosher, I think more of snack box. DL you can def request KSML and they will serve from Borenstein ex JFK.

Izzy

@Dan:

There is pic of the Delta KSML on JFK-SFO somewhere on DDF.

jared kushner

thanks dan you are a real tzadik

@Dan

The “meal” is a roll, bag of bissli, chummus and matbucha (just flew it last week)

first class

any luck booking this with rewards for first class/business lay flat seats

Vancouver Boy

No Pic. It was that bad 😉

As the other commenter above mentioned,
The “meal” is a roll, bag of bissli, chummus and matbucha.

The Bread was challan roll style and very dry. Definitely don’t count on this as a meal.

Ari

Do i get a free checked bag with using my delta credit card on basic economy? Priority boarding? (What about united?) Also if I’m an authorized user does that work?

M

@Vancouver Boy: Haven’t flown a route in coach where they serve meals in a while, but I find that DL Kosher Meals in first domestically are actually quite good….particularly when leaving JFK

toby

thanks dan! booked tickets! is it worth it to open delta credit card if I don’t have one to get free checked baggage even though I didn’t have it at the time I booked the tickets?

Nigel

Yep it works two round tickets LA – NY Delta $480.00 including tax good deal, booked for Sukkot.

Barry

What’s the cancellation policy using hybrid points?

Jack

Anonymous

Is this only for booking on priceline? Called JetBlue and they knew nothing about it.

Kobe

Hi Dan
I just clicked on your website like i usually do thru out the day and saw this deal.
I have been wanting to go to la for a while and booked a trip for my family of 4.
Aug31-Sep 7th for $249.00 (: (labor day weekend)
I had trouble using my chase sapphire reserve ultimate rewards so i booked it straight on priceline while it still existed.
Thanks

Toby

If I have a delta card does everyone in my itenerary/family get a free checked bag or just the cardholder?

Anonymous
