American has excellent $497 fares on their nonstop flights from JFK to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil available on most dates departing from 02/07 through 06/25. You can return on most dates through 06/30 as long as you stayover for a Saturday in Brazil.
Sample itinerary:
Normally Americans have to jump through several hoops and pay a $160 reciprocity fee for a Visa to visit Brazil.
However in an unprecedented move, Brazil is waiving Visa requirements for citizens holding passports from the USA, Canada, Australia, and Japan if they arrive in Brazil between June 1-September 18. You can stay up to 90 days without a Visa. It’s intended to drum up traffic for the olympics that will be held in Rio in August, but you do not need to actually go to the Olympics or be there during August when Rio will be a madhouse.
Brazil’s currency, the Real, is fantastically cheap right now. You’ll get a whopping 4 Reais per dollar, up from just 1.5 per dollar not long ago.
Tucked into lush mountains, rivers, and the ocean, Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has some very good kosher restaurants as well.
But you don’t need to stop there:
-From Rio you can fly nonstop to Iguazu Falls for 7.5K BA Avios or 12.5K Delta miles to experience the most awe-inspiring waterfalls in the world. Note that to experience it properly though you will also need to go to the Argentine side as well.
-Enjoy excellent restaurants and experience the heart of Brazil’s Jewish community in Sao Paulo for just 4.5K BA Avios from Rio.
-4.5K Avios is enough for a nonstop flight from Rio to the beautiful island of Florianópolis.
-For 10K Avios you can fly from Rio nonstop to Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon. And yes even in the Amazon, there’s even a Chabad House there as well which is run by an old chavrusa of mine.
-For 12.5K Delta miles you can fly to the absolutely stunning Fernando de Noronha.

Valeu Dan vou fazer uma reserva agora mesmo. Continue mostrando esses deals pro Brasil. Eu estou sempre viajando. Muito obrigado.
@Brasileiro:
De nada, Boa viagem!
This a great deal! I was there last summer and had a fantastic time!! The visa was the biggest annoyance (went to the consulate in NYC and waited to submit and then had to go back to pick it up; the hassle even worse than the cost.) Argentina also requires a visa though it can be purchased online for $160 so less of a difficulty. Though I’ve heard that if you’re just crossing the border by car to see the other side of the falls they are lax about the visa (not confirmed cuz I traveled to Argentina too so I already had this visa, do this at your own risk.) The Amazon rainforest is the most astounding amazing place, try to stay in it (Manaus as a gateway only.)
E so pro Rio ou tem como chegar ou sair de Sao Paulo (pelo menos um caminho)? Obrigado Dan
Tem passagem de NY pra Guarulhos?
@Anonymous:
Obrigado e continue mostrando tickets baratos pro Brasil
so the cheap flight dates and the no visa dates don’t correspond.
@Paulista:
Exactamente.
De nada.
@moshe:
Sure they do, fly in June.
Muito obrigado!! I love your website and you always have great deals
Can you please publish you most recent Brazil trip report?
Hi Dan no deals to or from Argentina to jfk/Mia/LAX?
Dan,
I am looking to fly from JFK – JNB with a stop over in Brazil GRU.
the stopover is 7 hours long. I am wondering if you know if i need to obtain a VISA to leave the airport? I also want to make sure i don’t need a VISA if i want to stay in the airport.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
@JoeA:
You need a visa to leave the airport. Don’t need a visa to transit.
