Southwest is having one of their best sales of the year today. Other airlines are also matching their fares.
Southwest still offers 2 free checked bags. Plus you can cancel revenue tickets with no charge and use the funds for a future flight. Point reservations can be cancelled for free with the points redeposited.
If you have previously booked Southwest tickets with cash or points and the price has gone down be sure to go online to make a change or call to get a refund for the difference!
When Southwest has a sale the points needed for a free flight also go on sale as Rapid Rewards is a revenue based program. A one-way short-haul flight can be had for just 2,336 points-a value of 1.86 cents per point
You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points instantly to Southwest at a 1:1 ratio.
You can earn 50K points for signing up for the Chase Southwest Visa.
If you have a Chase Ink Cash or Ink Plus buying Southwest gift cards at Staples.
If you have a Southwest companion pass your paid and free travel would be effectively doubled, so you would have $10,000 worth of paid flights plus $3,630 of free flights from points…but that would take a whole lot of Southwest travel! You can get a companion pass from earning 110,000 points from sources like the Chase Southwest credit card or transfers from hotels programs like Hyatt (50K Chase=50K Hyatt=30K Southwest)

Booked ATL-LGA RT for 11,369 RR points this morning and my son comes with me for free with CP.
Rebooked my family’s 5 NYC-LAX flights and got 26k points back into my account. I had originally booked the flights only a week ago!

I called an a rep told me the Sale is for Aug 23rd till dec’17. I have two reservations for July and she told me that the rates are the same đ Can you confirm if this is true?
@isaac:
Read the post…
a one way from las vegas to newark is 7125 points
is this always what it costs or is this a sale?
@Mick – stopover where?: EWR->LAS->LAX and LAX->DEN->EWR
@isaac: Always recheck. I check a few times a week after I book on Southwest. Sometimes it just goes down 100 or so points sometimes 1,000s. With their awsome policy you should always keep checking!
Of course my 6 booked tickets are a Saturday in the time frame, but not on sale:(
Actually the day before on Friday and the day after on Sunday is $50 less and their not sale dates.

Hey Dan,
Didn’t know where to ask this: I got caught up in the Soutwest cancellations this week and have a couple questions for you.
1) got a 50% voucher they could be pretty lucrative – any idea of how much of its value can be stretched? I figure a lot of your readers ended up with these and someone will eventually assess the value.
2). As a result of the cancellation, I was in a pickle and had to blow 10k of united points and $75 close-in fee on a short SAN-SFO flight for 2 tickets. Don’t want to be a chazzer, but is it worth complaining to either airline?
Thanks,
Josh
