Inappropriate headline. I am not a religious right-winger, but this headline is uncalled for. There was nothing scandalous about the grandfather and mother of Dovid Hamelech. To even imply such a thing is just plain wrong. And Im sorry to see that you allowed it to be published, Dan.

I agree too. The title is inappropriate and irreverent.

We are on a completely different level than past generations and therefore can’t look at the stories of tanach in a 21st century viewpoint. And by the way, not every school skip the yehuda/ tamar story. There are many meforshim that explain the story well.

there is no doubt that calling anything dovid hamelech scandalous is inappropriate. to use the term scandalous regarding anything Dovid Hamelech did, as if we understand it and can label it, is wrong. The Gemara says Dovid Hamelech Lo Choto, and whatever that means to us and however we understand it, it is true. We might not teach children certain things for the simple reason that we cannot understand or explain them properly in out tainted culture, but we may not consider them anything other than Pure Torah HaKedosha. This should serve as an honest and sincere Macha (objection) to the terminology being used here. Have a good Yom Tov, I mean this in no unkind manner, but i do wish to bring out the point. I am sorry if i have caused anyone offense.

I watched the class and it’s actually very interesting. He explains quite clearly the real intentions behind these seemingly scandalous situations…and yes they are SEEMINGLY scandalous, which is why they require further explanation.
