Join In Building A Permanent Bikkur Cholim Center At LIJ Hospital!
Chabad @ The Medical Centers is the address where people can turn to when they or their loved ones are at the hospital and they can use a listening ear, a warm word, a warm meal and a warm bed at our hospitality suites for the patient’s overnight visitors. And so much more! We infuse our work with the highest levels of Chabad’s trademark love, to ensure that all can feel cared for, with their needs being met. God forbid for a single individual to fall through the cracks!
You can be a partner in everything we do to benefit the patients at North Shore and LIJ Hospitals, and beyond, by contributing to our campaign this week, and by spreading the word. Your assistance will enable us in saying YES! to all calls for help by building our new Chesed Center opposite the LIJ Hospital campus, that is big enough to handle the amount of requests for accommodations adjacent the LIJ Hospital.

Meet Chana.
Chana was here alone. She was a young 30 year old woman from the Former Soviet Union, who came to the US, finished medical school, and then was diagnosed with a dreaded form of cancer right before beginning her residency.
When we were asked to visit Chana, it was several weeks into her diagnosis. She was radiant, yet gaunt. Regal, yet lost the crown of her dignity; her hair. She was eager for a home-cooked meal, which we readily prepared for her. She was grateful, she was humble, and emanated a deep grace.
I don’t recall whether we offered to help her get a wig or she requested it of us. Through a little bit of networking, we got her a wig, via a most gracious donor. When Chana got the wig, she was so very excited. She felt that she had earned her dignity back.
Chana told me, that she just needs to get over the cancer hump, had faith that she would find her intended soul mate, and she shared that “if I ever had doubts about covering my hair after marriage, the wig clinched it for me”, that she’d always wear a wig in her rigorous pursuit of her standards in modesty.
For reasons we don’t understand, several days ago, Hashem decided to take her pure soul back. But he got it back with her dignity, her hopes and her passion to be a very pious Jewish woman to her greatest abilities, and be the best version of herself, to actualize her divine mission in this world.
Chana taught me so much more than I can fully digest at the moment, her inspiration and valiant lessons in striving in growing into Hashem’s intentions for her, will remain with us eternally.

We are now in the final stretch of our matching funds building capital campaign.
People like Chana call us every day. We need your help to answer the call of thousands. To say YES. To be there for them in their time of urgent need. Dear friend, can you help us reach the finish line?
So together we can build a “Chesed House” – house of kindness, caring and support, at LIJ and North Shore Hospitals, to help our brothers and sisters, in the time they need it most.
With tremendous appreciation and blessings for a Shana Tova, a happy and healthy sweet New Year,
Rabbi Boruch Sholom Wolf

A real mench and such a selfless and holy leader!
Rabbi Wolf visited my son when he was at North shore, a real mentch! Having a place to stay would have really helped our family. We rented a place nearby and the added financial strain of the rent piled on top of loss of income and numerous medical related expenses during the crisis was really difficult for us.
Add the energy taken to get our own meals together, this really took away from being able to be fully present in the hospital for a few lengthy stays. The Bikur cholim room in the hospital helped to some degree.
This sounds like a dream and I hope it gets built really soon for other families.
Rabbi Wolf ran to say viddoiy (spelling?) right before a friends father passed away. It was such a comfort to my friend and she is forever grateful.
