When I was in Yeshiva in Los Angeles I spent a few Shabbosim with R’ Eli Baitelman in the Pacific Palisades where my brother Dovid worked on shlichus for two years. I also trained Eli as a Lifeguard for a camp he ran. He tragically passed away from a sudden heart attack two days ago at the age of 40 and leaves behind his wife and seven children.
Eli was an amazing person, as my brother Dovid writes:
“I worked for Eli and his wife Elka for 2 years in Pacific Palisades where he was on shlichus with (at the time) a new family. I learned so much of my work ethic from Eli and will be forever touched by having known him. He looked out for me, always made sure the janitor had food and cold water, and was a true role model in how he made every person feel like the only thing on his mind, even when he had dozens of other responsibilities. I can’t imagine the pain and devastation his wife Elka and 7 children must be experiencing right now. If we can show our support for them in their hour of need, it could not go to a more worthy goal.”
