Through 9/12 Starbucks is offering game plays to win Starbucks stars or free Starbucks for a week, month, year, or even for life.
You get a game play by making purchased from Starbucks, but you can also get 4 free plays per day for free.
To claim free plays just sign in to your Starbucks account here.
Don’t have a Starbucks Rewards card? You can signup with my referral link here.
After signing in, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “click here.”
It will ask for your address, but you can type in just 1 character per line and you’ll still get the free game plays. You can request and play up to 4 times per day.
After a few days my board looks like this:
-5 people will win a daily Starbucks for life, though they’ll also get a 1099 for $54,275.
-25 people will win a daily Starbucks for a year, though they’ll also get a 1099 for $1,642.50.
-125 people will win a daily Starbucks for a month. Considering this doesn’t come with a 1099, I might consider this to be the grand prize 😉
-500 people will win a daily Starbucks for a week.
-50K people will win 125 stars (Enough for 1 free drink).
-125K people will win 25 stars.
-1MM people will win 10 stars.
-1MM people will win 5 stars.

1099 for 55K?
Are the free starbucks at least transferable or resellable? If not why would this be worth it?
Is there a difference between a Starbucks account and a Starbucks card?
I signed in and I don’t see that screen
Using iPhone
i would love free coffee for life
Too lazy to read the terms. If you win the life or year can you refuse it so as not to get 1099?
@Izzy: 4 dollars per day x 33 years
@noturbizniss:
Of course.
Do you get a 1099 for life?
@Sima:
You get 1 1099.
Can this be done on the mobile site? I don’t see anywhere to click.
@Dan:
Not really. If you read the official rules, you will see that an annual 1099 will be issued “for each tax year where the total value of the prize redeemed is equal to $600 or more.” This sounds like Sbux will release a yearly 1099 for $1809 for 30 years for those lucky 5 people. I think I would accept a 1099 for $1809 for a free daily coffee each year.
@Joe:
I stand corrected, thanks.
Of course the real question is can you dispute the 1099 if you don’t consumer all of your beverages?
@Dan
You should be able to dispute it. There’s something called FMV (Fair Market Value).
I’ve already gotten 2/3 of the For Life prize. Wonder how it will turn out. (not getting too excited yet)
Actually, if you read the terms, the 1099 is issued yearly for the value of the days that year that you redeemed your free item not for every day of the year.
Here is a quote from the rules
“Grand and First Prize Winners will be responsible for income tax based on the retail price of the
items that are redeemed and will receive an annual IRS Form 1099 for each tax year where the total value of the prize redeemed is equal to $600 or more.”
Thanks Dan!
I’m playing this again and again for free gaining lots of cool stuff out there!
if you get the 1099, you can probably write off the daily cost of traveling to pick up the free coffee and end up with a net loss. Any accountants here?
I’ve done my 4 plays every day since the 15th and got 15 whole stars! Do you know of anybody that has won anything significant?
I won 125 stars..enough for 1 free drink
Does the new starbucks game work like this too, or do i actually need to make a purchase for each play?
@new one:
Yes! same deal as last time. Got 2/3 on each row already.
Just keep on requesting free game plays.
How did you get the free plays this time?
If you scroll down it just says “**NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase of any kind will not increase your chances of winning.”
The words Dan highlighted, “To enter without making a purchase click here,” don’t appear at the bottom of my page this time.
