thanks htg123, unfortunately, i got a slightly different response. After a short back and forth following your script, the rep said “I will have to send this over to our Market and promotions team. They will contact you by email tomorrow. You will be provided with a new code if we’re unable to apply this to the order and they will try to manually apply it for you.”
Let’s see what happens.

just an update, I didn’t get any email from CS so I chatted again. this time, the rep said:
“I can’t give you another promo cause that item is sold by a third party seller, what can I do for you is that you create a new order for that item and at the time you are charged, I make a refund of all the amount. Is that ok for you?” obviously that is fine!
