you post this a long time ago, and i did the security check back then but never got the additional storage, is there anything i missed? tell me please any tips what might help me before i am doing it again, Thanks
(this is vary important for me, because i need to erase old stuff every few weeks…)

@Dov: U can pay for more storage if it is really important to you.

It worked by me it doesnt show up on bottom of you gmail acct right away but if you click on manage youll see that it chnaged. It worked for me last time as well.

This is also working on my google business accounts, so I did it for all my employees as well.

Do you actually have to add a recovery phone number? Or is it enough to just go through all the steps?

I had done it last time to be bumped to 17GB and was already at 95% capacity from just emails alone!

Works multiple times? Every time I do it (for the same account) it gives me the message: “To help celebrate Safer Internet Day 2016, we added 2 GB of free Drive storage to your Google account because you completed the Security Checkup.”

I ran the checkup for the “personal info and privacy” too, and it gave me an additional 2gb. 4gb all up.

Am i the only meshugena who is worried about this? I can really use the extra storage but why do they need to ask us to run a security check? It’d their system. I hope they run security checks all the time. Not sure why they need to get into my account to do it.

What do I do if I didn’t get the extra 2GB?

Just to make sure I did the right thing, it basically just guided me through my settings and asked if everything looked good.

@Work-for-ur-muny: I did that as well but only got 2GB out of it even though the 2nd time it said I got 2GB again. If you click on Dan’s link to see your usage you can see that it gives you 2GB for “2016 Security check”. I have 38GB total on a legacy plan of $5 per year

Apparently, Feb. 9 becomes an annual event for Google. Now I’ve set up an annual Google calendar reminder for myself 🙂

photos
drive
etc…

At the bottom it will say “in honor of Safer Internet Security Day
we have added 2 GB” just before it says that you can proceed to “acct settings”.
