Dan
Is there one for Delta as far as you know?
We are scheduled to depart Saturday night.
I called EL AL and the representative said that they never have issues with weather since International flights have different planes and pilots than domestic carriers and can handle any weather.
Southwest also issued a policy already:
https://www.southwest.com/html/advisories/swa_travel_advisory_20160201453305294369.html
if i booked an American Airlines flight with British Airways Avios, which policy am i under- AA or BA? thanks
@Abe: I once left JFK on El Al in the middle of a blizzard. If the runway is open and the plane & crew are there (which is much more likely with international service) then El Al will take off.
Southwest: Friday-Saturday https://www.southwest.com/html/advisories/swa_travel_advisory_20160201453305294369.html
Dan,
We have cancelled yesterday a flight for Sunday and was charged a fee. will they still honor the weather waiver?
Do you know if any other airlines will do this, specifically jetblue?
@ba:
I’d call AA, may require a few HUCAs.
@Moshe:
No.
Why would you ever cancel a flight for Sunday, yesterday??
@Ben:
They will.
Can we still buy even after they issue the waiver?
@all:
Not officially, YMMV.
@Dan: Thanks Dan for all your deals aND your website I really appreciate it! Even though you are just doing your job.
If you cancel before they cancel, they will not reimburse you—-
Dan, what do you think about canceling tickets from Air Canada glitch to Israel in March? Thanks
@Dan: Family emergency.
@Pete:
What does that have to do with this?
@Moshe:
There’s no reason to cancel that far in advance. Rookie mistake.
@Dan: I will not be able to fly at all at this time. What should i have done?
I have a sunday flight with Delta from NY with stopover in atlanta. Is atlanta expected to have bad weather? Thinking about leaving friday morning instead. But dont want to get stuck in atlanta.
Dan, supposed to fly into PBI on Saturday night and there is no availability for tomorrow or Friday morning to PBI and United refuses to rebook me to FLL or MIA. What should I do?
Have a flight sat night to NC. Think they will cancel? Flying with avios points on American.
@Moshe: You should have waited until they came out with their free weather cancellation policy today. The media was going nuts talking about the potential snow storm yesterday you should have just waited. You don’t gain anything cancelling the earlier rather than later so always wait until closer to the flight. Even if the flight gets delayed a few hours sometimes you can then get a full refund.
@Frustrated: HUCA (hang up and call again) until you find an agent that will help you. You can also try speaking to a supervisor.
@Moshe: Wait to cancel and hope for a schedule change or wait for what actually happened, a weather waiver, which enables you to cancel for free?
@Dan, do weather waivers normally only allow fee-free *changes* or also cancellations?
Nothing for jetblue??
So Southwest doesn’t think their delays/cancellations will continue through Sunday? I hope not, but delays often spill over. Do airlines sometimes extend/expand their dates once they get a better handle on the weather situation? My son has a flight Sunday morning from BOS, returning the same day.
Anything from Jetblue yet?
@Anonymous: @AJK: Good point about the weather waiver but isn’t it harder to cancel or change flights within 24 Hrs of the flight?
Which airport less likely to have delays departing? LGA or JFK? Have a 1 hr stopver in ATL.
@Mendy: Hold your horses Mendy! It’s still sunny out!
Dan I have an award AA (BA Avios so Refudable either way) flight Sunday Morning -3 family members & a paid return Wednesday night 27th.
If we cannot get out on Sunday Morning & cancel the trip Ć¢ā¬ā
Am I stuck with JetBlue and lose everything for the way back since it will be outside the window?
I used points for the JetBlue flights
Dan, Assuming AA will make the changes for Avios award flights
Ć¢ā¬ā will they do it for any flight with 3 open seats or only where there is saver award space?
I booked BA avios Sunday Morning LGA-PBI.
If I need it changed to Monday Morning Ć¢ā¬ā will AA only change it based on Award availability for Monday or based on any open seats?
@Moshe:
Nope. Not if you’re paying a fee anyway.
(Or it’s an Avios award.)
Even so, you could have waited to 24:01 before and had enough time to avoid the fee here.
What r hucas? Have american mileage flight booked from JFK on Sunday, trying to figure this out, tx!!
@Dan:
Dan,
In a earlier post you mentioned paying the fee to change the ticket to the dates of the waiver, then getting them canceled. Did i misunderstand something?
Any clue about WOW Sunday afternoon from Baltimore? How can I figure out even if storm is over if they will have a plane to take us?
@New: Hang Up Call Again
@mh:
We have similar to MH but to cancun. We are nervous about this unknown that BA and AA can’t answer.
@AJK: Thanks for the info. So besides weather waiver is there any other reason to wait?
anything with jetblue yet? Have flt sat
Dan sorry forgot to write my name in #34. IT was a response to your response on #14. Thanks!

Dan, I Have aa from philly booked. Think they will give me a hard time to change if i booked it earlier today? Also think they will give me a hard time changing it for a week past the 26th? Thanks Dan!
Anything for NK?
Just spoke with JetBlue they are changing Saturday flights only now.
Dan, I have a United award ticket booked for Sunday night from EWR. I had called them to upgrade the ticket to First class using more points but they said I would also have to pay $100 per ticket as a changing fee. I did not go through with it as of yet.
My question is as follows: can I call them to upgrade the ticket without the fee due to the fact that the ticket is for sunday where they are waiving changing fees or they wont do it bec I’m not changing the flight just the ticket.
I do not think my flight will ultimately even be delayed because the storm should pass by Sunday mid morning and my flight is Sunday 8 PM

AA website is allowing changes from NYC without penalty, even though over the phone they won’t.
AA flight Sat night from LGA. Any ideas when they may allow free flight changes?
I know someone that got B6 to change their flight out of EWR-FLL at 12:21PM today. š
@Chuck:
Did you try changing it online?
@@Yehuda:
These are just the rules, an agent can always make an exception.
@Anonymous: Where?? I don’t see
@Dan: Yes, no “change flight” option is showing on the page
@dan Now AA is including all 3 NYC airports. GreAAt news! š
Called El Al again.. Same message. Flight will take off on Saturday night and they won’t waive fees.
@Dan,
I have a flight sun morning NYC -> LIR with 1 hour stopover in ATL. Delta telling me that I will have to pay to move it to friday becuase no seats left in my fare class. They also wont let me get to atlanta thursday night and stay there till sunday morning becuase it is a stopover exceeding 12 hrs and they will need to reprice the ticket. Any options left for me?
Thanks Dan! My in laws coming in from Houston to us in NJwere able to move their flight from Sunday to Monday morning. Does anyone know the probability of a delay on Friday morning?
I bought my jetblue flight via Priceline.com. How does that affect this travel policy?
The problem is if you buy it fro priceline then the airline cant touch the tickets.
@Uhoh:
HUCA?
@Yoni:
37.86%
@ben:
Did you call JetBlue or Priceline yet?
@Dan: I realize it is because I booked via orbitz. Any suggestions?
I have ticket for Sunday and for some reason if it gets cancelled, I realize that I could change it or cancel it free.
My return ticket is for Wednesday from a different airline and obviously there is no issue with the return flight. The problem is is that it messes up my whole schedule and I won’t be able to cancel my return because it’s not within the policy.
Any ideas?
@Chuck:
NYC was added.
@Deal guy:
Did you call and explain the situation?
Dan, Does Priceline refund car rentals if the flights canceled?
Jetblue not letting me change online.. waiting on hold for 18min
@SN:
They likely will, may take HUCA.
is jet blue allowing any changes for sunday yet from nj
stinkin AA and their booked before 1/20 rule…they the only ones who have that rule?
I have a trip to Westin Grand Cayman scheduled for Sunday using points. Will SPG refund me my points (assuming the flight gets cancelled)even thought it’s within the 7 days period?
@ah: ah, did you try calling them yet? Are they enforcing that rule?
What happens if I have a one way on JetBlue from PBI-LGA onJan 27 but I cant get out of NYC on Sunday With AA.
Am I stuck with the 27th JetBlue Itenerary or they will refund? It was with points – Maybe they give a travel bank credit?
Dan – Your thoughts are greatly appreciated š
In case this helps any of you in similar situation. I’ve been in touch with AA all day. Have flight on AA tomm Jan 21st at 7pm MIA-LGA. My return flight is on Saturday, Jan 23rd, when Winter Storm Jonas is expected to hit the NYC area.
I cancelled my ticket as I don’t want to rebook for alternative dates AA gave (Jan 20-27). AA will fully refund me if any 1 of my 2 flights gets cancelled. Tomm will be fine. Saturday flight in limbo. Hoping for cancellation of Sat flight for full refund. If no cancellation, no refund. Check with your airline on their policy. Hope this helps someone.
I’ve purchased through United.com a ticket FRA-EWR on LH and EWR-RDU on UA on Sunday.
If the EWR-RDU leg is delayed, am I eligible to rebook the FRA-ORD leg under UA’s weather policy, even though it’s not directly affected by the weather?
Or would I just get stranded at EWR…?
Correction to message #74: meant TLV-FRA-EWR-RDU.
I can rebook the FRA-EWR-RDU segments under UA’s policy, but can I rebook the TLV-FRA leg, even though it’s not directly affected, and get the fees waived?
Just an FYI Air Canada added this weekend to the list.
DAN
does price line 11 pm CANCELLATION policy works also if i would buy a ticket for Friday ?
or it needs more advance purchase
p.s i know its not a weather related Q
THANKS
My ticket is for sat night and return wed morning nyc to tlv if I change my outbound flight to Sunday will they let me change the return a day later ?
Only being there 48 hours
Southwest now includes Sunday
Has anyone had luck getting AA to rebook a flight purchased with Avios? No luck here.
Also, BA would not rebook without a fee. Does anyone know of BA will issue fee waivers soon?
I am coming back from lax to ny sunday on American would they change for same day on a later flight
thanks
I don’t have any flights booked at all. What should I do?
My ticket is on jet blue for sun morning(lga-fll). …do you think the waiver for this flight will still come?
My flight is on jet blue on Sunday morning (lga-fll )…do you expect the waiver for this flight ? Almost every other airline has already included Sunday in their cancelation plans
i changed my ticket on jetblue at 4:30 pm that was scheduled to leave sat nit fromlga to fll going fri morning hpn to fll call jet blue
I have a round trip this Friday to BOS from the west coast and then another round trip to New York from the West Coast on Sunday. I spoke to AA customer service and looks like I have two practical (for my schedule) options:
Move the flight to BOS from Friday to tomorrow and to New York from Sunday to Wednesday. The second alternative that she suggested is just wait for the flights to get canceled or delayed by more than 30 minutes, in which case, I can cancel the flight and reschedule it for a different date outside of the waiver advisory date.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Anything on spirit?
@airport choice?:
LGA is much more sensitive to any weather issues. Only one runway.
I am also having issues with BA issued tickets. I am scheduled to fly LGA-PBI on Sunday morning. No dice so far from AA.
Hi wondering if flights to florida will be effected from the 28 return flight?
Hi are flights returning from florida gonna be effected on the 28th ?
Is there supposed to be a major snowstorm next week that will cause cancilations and delays?
Update: called BA this AM and it seems they issued a fee waiver policy. They changed our Avios-booked AA flight to a later flight at no charge.
@Dz
They said when I called them that they can change Avios booked flight but there must be saver award availability on thew new flight.
Was there saver award on ur new flight or my rep was wrong?
i have a ticket for sunday morning on jetblue (fll-fll) – will they issue waiver for that day??
@Dan
I have a flight on Monday Jan. 25th with Porter Air from Toronto to Washington D.C. and they have yet to issue a waiver or to waive the fees. Any ideas of what to do?
@mzlip: Jetblue added Sunday to the waived fees
question
my ticket is for motei shabbat and returning Tue night
meaning ill be there a day =
they willing to change my outbound to sunday but about the return if i change it they want to charge me a fare difference of $580.
is there anything i can do
If my flight gets cancelled. ..Anyway to cancel a non refundable hotel booking?
WF award booking, for UA flight to LGA, refused to change flight for free to EWR, as different destination for United. Legit?
Dan,
I have a flight booked from Baltimore to Ft Lauderdale Sunday at 605. If I would reschedule my flight to earlier in the day in the hope of getting a free earlier flight would I still be able to change it again if that earlier flight falls through. In short is it worth the risk of trying to go earlier
@Tim:
Wondering the same.. or a return flight that was a one way
Any advice regarding a JetBlue flight (from NY-Orlando) that is supposed to leave Sunday afternoon? We are scheduled to depart on a cruise leaving from port canaveral Monday morning. If we can’t get a flight in time, we will miss the cruise. What to do?
Question: How likely do you think a Delta JFK-TLV on Sunday Midnight will be to fly out?
Hoping they will clean up the airport by then?
Am I being overly optimistic?
Dan, what mathematical formula did you use to come up with 37.86%? I used Murphy’s theorem and my calculations keep coming to 41.773%. But my abacus needs new batteries.
@mechayamom:
Hi it’s Dovi I’m going on the same flight from Flatbush to JFK
I try to cell delta left a message
@Dov: That’s a long flight, I’m it beats sitting in traffic.
bro’s 7 am mia-jfk was canceled; american auto-rebooked him on stopover @ 3:30 pm…on hold for over 20 min to try and change it
I just got off the phone with an ElAl representative regarding 10:30 out of Newark on the 23rd. As of now there were no updates.
Jetblue FLL-PHL Sunday 24th 9.54am CANCELLED yesterday 10pm
aa 540am lga to mia cancelled, refund is being offered so keep that in mind people
Dan, If the airports are clear by sunday at 5 any chance they will reinstate cancelled flights?
Will everything be clear by Monday?
My DW should be flying from Germany to EWR on Lufthansa.
Flights for Saturday and Sunday where canceled,
(I feel like talking to the wall š )
Hour big of a chance that I could push up the flight a day (from Monday to Tuesday) for free?
@A European:
Done for free š
American also updated to Monday
@Levi:
Not according to their website.
Rabeinu Dan I have the same shaila as Reb Judah with no flights booked this week at all?? Lol. Ps I need cheap tickets to Australia for Pesach, do you think the snow will melt by then?
I have a flight Tuesday afternoon with JetBlue from Fll to lga. Any chance of me being able to get a waiver
I have a flight from FLL to EWR, do you think that we will get back or delayed?
Thanks.
