This is an excellent price for the Nuvi 855 which is loaded with many premium features.
The Nuvi 855 allows you to speak dozens of commands, such as saying an address or telling it to lower the volume.
It has text-to-speech which means that it will speak street names.
It also has Lane Assist which shows you which lane you should be in and Junction View which shows you a realistic view of the highway with road signs.
The Nuvi 855 also has multi-point routing which lets you enter in multiple addresses and it will figure out the optimal route between all of the points for the shortest time.

I love Garmin units… There are 2 additional features on this unit that are VERY useful to me are: PLAN AHEAD ROUTE PLANNING… you can preplan trips… enter routing in advance so you can plan before the trip and see distance/time, etc… then SAVE it for when you are on the trip. Excellent for planning… and saves time when you’re on the trip.
Also, displays SPEED LIMIT on the device. Sounds like not that big of a deal, but I find it very useful.
My Garmin (diff model) has Europe maps… invaluable for overseas travel. The speed limit feature is particularly useful in Europe where speed limits change often.
Can this thing be loaded with israeli and european maps? What’s the best gps for that?
I had this GPS. 2 comments:
The voice command is very impractical and I hve found it easier to type while driving then speak your command, speak it again bec. it didn’t catch what you said, then again bec. you spoke 1 second too early……(You have to be looking at the screen to know exactly when to speak your command, and exactly what words to say).
Lane asssist is helpful, but Junction View is only avail. in certain cities. I was using it on the Garden State and the NJ Turnpike and it didn’t show up at all. Garmin says with future map updates they will be adding more Junction views. Until then it will only appear once in a while.
@yonah: Garmin says only Models above 1000 can have Israel maps. For ex. I have the 1390T and I can buy Israel maps for $100 if I want. Look on amazon for one with the features you want. Btw, when I bought my 1390T, I got it on PCnation.com for $20 less then Amazon was charging (although the price has gone up since then).
The 1390T is a great GPS and will work with Israel or Europe maps if you add them.
It’s just $191 at Amazon.
