United made the news this morning when their SHARES system went down yet again, grounding their entire mainline fleet.
If you have a ticket to travel on United today you can reschedule to fly anytime until Friday with no change fees and no difference in fare. That means if you have an award ticket you can even switch to a flight without award availability anytime until Friday. So who’s going to try booking a ticket for today now 😉
You can also change a ticket for today to anytime after Friday (up to a year from ticketing) and the change fee will be waived, however if there is a difference in fare it will be collected.

In regards to free changes, will the same apply for flights booked on united using a different mileage program ?

Trying to read between the lines here… if I book a saver award ticket for today, and want to change it for sometime in August, will there be a change in fare fee or not? How do they handle award tickets when it comes to changing them do to an error on their part?
@Award ticket?: I don’t think there will be a change in fare fee, but there would have to be saver award availability. If not they will charge you the diff. In miles

just booked a flight for today returning on sunday LAX -> LAS (paid the economy fare ~270). Called 30 mins later and they changed my flights to Friday returning on Sunday at much better times for no fee.
Since I’m not assigned a seat and the only seats available are “Economy Plus” (what a joke btw), can I call and get an EP seat assigned for free since I don’t wanna end up in some random middle seat?
