I tried that at first too. It still said estimated delivery date of 2-4 weeks. Thinking of ordering another with that shipping, and if it doesn’t come the next day, tell amazon to compensate me for their failure (they left the option open when it’s backstocked, and it costs $5).

It’s 99% a price mistake.
Most likely Sony had the price mistake and Amazon’s algorithm tries to beat competing prices, setting up the price mistake on both sites.
We’ll see if either site honors it.
A body only means it’s the camera itself. You still need to purchase a lens. A full frame is one type of DSLR camera.

I just called best buy in order to try and get a price match for the 3 I have on order. They said they will not price match from Sony.com and that all orders that went through from Sony will be cancelled within the next few hours.
The agent from best buy also noted that they have received over 85 calls in the last hour trying to do the same thing…. Dansdeals syndrome:)

Full frame denotes the size of the sensor (digital “film”) the chiddush is that they get a full frame sensor into such a small body. DSLR are SD with full frame or APC size sensor. Full frame is considered superior in quality. Camera of this quality are often sold with out a lens, so this deal is Body Only. You do need a lens and some simple accessories but it’s a fantastic deal. I ordered from Sony. Will see if it shows up.

I ordered with 2 day shipping. When the order was placed it showed the shipping date on about June 23. For those who ordered overnight shipping what shipping date did you get. Is it possible to change to overnight?

In the unlikely event that this does go through, there are lens adapters ($20-$30) that can fit Canon or Nikon lenses onto the Sony. Just a tip for those of us who already have a SLR camera…

For those asking. this is a high end camera. this kind of camera is almost always sold in 2 forms body only or body with a lens (usually a “kit lens”) the reason why its sold body only is due to the fact that most people looking to purchase this type of camera already have at least one lens. that can be used with the camera. Most will have even more.
As or full frame vs cropped. Full frame is the digital equivalent of a 35mm film “frame” or “negative”. Cropped frame is usually some derivation of .5x to .4x smaller than a full frame sensor.
Mirrorless vs DLSR means that it has a SLR (single LENS reflex) form factor but lacks a mirror so all the light travels to the sensor and the eye piece looks through the sensor and not a mirror. That means the camera is lighter and some say better. That is up for debate. check your local forum flame war for better understanding.
As such this Sony has a full frame and basically an amazing peice of tech.
Also rule of thumb: spend money on the lens and not the camera. Modern cameras are like computers in that they become obsolete rather fast. Lens’s are pieces of art and tech that almost never go bad.

I placed 2 separate orders. I received confirmation emails for each order; I then, about 2 hrs later, received ONE cancellation email.

Please read through the posts before asking (you can even search his name to just look for his comments). Just a few posts down from there, he states that he was joking……
(Ordered this morning on Amazon at 8:50, haven’t gotten a cancellation email. Got the warranty notice, going to call to tell them the item was backstocked to avoid it starting early and in case they cancel the order)
I ordered them on the Sony site at 9.24 am then another at 9.30. Paid Paypal the first time and Amex the second, with a 3 year warranty. Both payments have gone through and I received confirmation emails each time. 1.30 am next day and no cancellation email.
Sony may be on shaky ground here, as the item was advertised as a sale. The degree of the sale is essentially irrelevant, considering the crazy deals that happen on Black Friday. Everyone who gets cancelled should take Sony to task and insist on delivery. This deal was further reinforced by Amazon independently offering the same price range, indicating to buyers it was not an error. One site maybe an error. Two unconnected vendors misleading the public – no error, regardless of how Amazon generates it prices.
Where are those lawyers when you need one.

Whenever there is a “price mistake” opportunity, there are those who criticize those who act upon it claiming that it might be a chillul HaShem. While I understand that perspective, I also realize that it is a legitimate price listing that anyone could buy if they chose (and were aware) and that sales, even very big sales (eg “Black Friday”) happen and may be to the seller’s advantage somehow. Moreover, the seller, like the buyer, recognizes that “price mistakes” are inevitably part of doing (online) business, and sometimes it is in their best interest to honor those mistakes and sometimes it isn’t.
This was the first time that I attempted to take advantage of what was clearly a “price mistake.” I did wonder if WE diminish ourselves in the eyes of the seller (who likely knows who WE are) by doing so. For the reasons above, I thought that I was above board attempting to make the purchase and would likely do so again.
What I don’t feel at all comfortable with is the notion that we should be complaining to or about the seller if they decide not to honor the “price mistake.” Is it gracious to insist that the seller to lose millions of dollars because of an honest mistake? Should we really be calling attention to ourselves, and is there the possibility that we are creating a chillul HaShem, by calling in to the company? Is that gift card really worth it?
Food for thought. My two cents.
