Google purchased Softcard in order to knock out some of the competition and they announced today that the app will go away on 03/31.
It’s hard to say at this point if those limits will now be decreased, but I’d guess that the higher limits will stick around for those who opened their Serve card via Softcard.
I’ll miss the app itself. Not really for its intended purpose, but for all the free money they threw our way š

Thanks, Dan. I just got the email from Softcard a few minutes ago. I’ve been using Softcard to load up Serve in the app for a bunch of months now. The email didn’t say anything about their credit cards partners (Chase, Amex), so it feels very abrupt. I’ve already loaded up $1,500 for March, so I’m done this month. We’ll see what happens when April comes around. I’m still going to try to use Besides, it sounds like RedBirds are being shut down today, so my interest in migrating over to Serve has waned after reading about the shutdowns (although it may all be misinformation; not sure yet).
Dan,
I wanted to send you Mishloach Monos as hakoras hatov, but then I realized that you are in Eretz Yisroel (not even sure which day you have Purim; depends on the city), so it will have to be some other time/method.
Anyway, for now suffice it to say Yasher koach and A Freilichen Purim!
@Laura: no need to load the money onto your serve via the app. You can just go to serve.com and do it all from there
@AJ: send it here to Israel, I’ll hand deliver it š
I just recently got a case for my phone from someone to upgrade from Serve to SoftServe. Still possible to sign up before end of month and maybe keep the increased limits?
@Eli — Thanks! I didn’t know you could load Serve on the site and still get the extra $500/month? I thought you had to load it all using the app in order to get that extra $500 w/cc. I’ll try it on the website next month. Appreciate the tip!

@Laura: as long as you signed up to serve through softcard
In case anyone didn’t know, once your serve is opened through softcard, you don’t need the softcard account to load your serve card to the $1500 limit. In fact, my softcard account was already closed due to wireless carrier a while ago and I’ve just loading it from serve.com on my desktop. Which means you can open two serve accounts through softcard even if you only have one smart phone. Open one serve, terminate the softcard by calling your wireless carrier and reopen softcard account using different name and open new serve.
hell ye free money i got 500 bucks cuz of u love u dan

Just got this email from amex serve
Hello __________,
You may have seen the recent announcement that the Softcard app is being discontinued. We want to assure you there will be no other changes to your American Express Serve Account and that it will continue to work outside of Softcard.
No one else has tried to sign up since then and had issues? I’m trying to finish my last loads to my Serve card and was planning to convert to SoftServe this month. Hoping I still can to get the higher limits.
Serve is no longer allowing sign up through softcard. Also softcard only supports Amex cards now and will not let you add any other cards anymore.
Serve will no longer let you open an account through softcard. Also they stopped support for all cards except Amex.
