You’ll earn 5 points per dollar or 5.5 points per dollar if you have a Chase checking account.
Grocery stores and gas stations are always awesome categories as you can find Visa cards there that can be liquidated.
Upcoming categories include:

Q3: Gas stations and more to be announced.
Q4: Amazon.com and more to be announced.
——————————————————————————————-
2014 Q4:
Q4 bonus spending ends 12/31/14.
Although they are called ā5% categoriesā you really get 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent which can be cashed out for 5% cash. For $1,500 in spending you will earn at least 7,500 Ultimate Rewards points. If you or your spouse has a Chase Sapphire PreferredĀ® Card,Ā Ink Plus, or Ink Bold card you can transfer Freedom points over to one of those cards and then transfer them at a 1:1 ratio into much more valuable airline miles (United, British Airways, Southwest, Korean, Singapore, etc) or hotel points (Hyatt, etc).Ā The $1,500 quarterly limit is per Freedom card, so if you’re like me and you have downgraded Chase Sapphire PreferredĀ® Card s into multiple Freedom cards then you can spend $1,500 on each Freedom card.
If you have a Chase checking account you will also earn a 10% bonus on all points earned.Ā That means youāll earn a whopping 5.5 points per dollar in these categories or 8,250 points each quarter. Those points post in February for the previous year.Ā That benefit ends in February 2016.

My $30 canon cash code came in and is not working. Anyone else have this issue?
Does anyone else find it ironic that Chase explicitly excludes Walmart and Target? It’s almost like they are speaking directly to us!
Is theres a list to what stores come up as groceries
@Dan, if you add an AU (spouse), can that person then sign up for the card independently (since ss# is not used when adding an AU)? Thanks and sorry for the beginner q.
@LG:
You can try this: https://www.visa.com/supplierlocator/search/index.jsp
Any store that’s categorized as grocery will work.
@David:
Yes.
my freedom authorized user card has same exact number as my main card. Is that normal? How do they know if I made the single purchase.
@Jason:
Yes.
What is a single purchase and why does it matter who made it?
Thanks Dan – your post says “Chase Freedom Visa-Until 12/17 only you can earn 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points (double the normal bonus) when you spend $500 in 3 months plus 2,500 points for adding an additional user and making a single purchase in 3 months.”
For the second part of that – how can they tell that the additional user card has made the purchase when its the same exact number as my main card? I’m trying to get the extra 2,500 points.
@Jason:
Bingo, don’t actually need to make the purchase on the AU card š
I’m just relaying the terms.
Ok thank you for clarifying!
Hi dan can I make a large purchase as Bloomingdales or Nordstrom with my cc to gain points I need now and then return the item to my chase debit card ? Or will they give me chase in the thousands..?
Does Chase allow me to transfer from my daughter’s Freedom card (living at the same address) to my Ink, or is it only a spouse?
Thank You
@zow: Interesting, not ironic.There’s no irony here.
