10% Off Hyatt eGift Cards

Hyatt has finally launched eGift cards, which are delivered instantly via email.

You can get 10% off all Hyatt gift cards and certificates with code (Exp: 12/31): GPGIFT14

Additionally people have gotten 5% back via Open Savings by using an AMEX business card to buy Hyatt gift cards in the past.

Unfortunately the Hyatt eGift cards are only valid in the US, Canada, and Caribbean.  You can use Hyatt checks worldwide, but those carry a $6 shipping fee and in most foreign hotels you’ll also get hit with a forex fee when using the checks, which will erode a chunk of the savings.  Some foreign hotels, like the Park Hyatt Maldives, charge in USD, so no forex would apply.

I was wondering if anyone has experience using Hyatt egift cards (or physical cards for that matter) paying the “cash” portion of a points + cash reward stay booked over the phone? I don’t see why they wouldn’t work but I’d love to hear confirmation from someone whose done it! Thanks!

@GTR:
There’s no reason that wouldn’t work.

Would these work for the all-inclusive properties opening up in Montego Bay? I know it’s Caribbean but wasn’t sure if it is a different category because its all-inclusive.

In the terms and conditions it says “Hyatt eGift Cards purchases are processed through a third-party vendor.”, so I wonder if the 5% OPEN savings will actually work since the billing will be handled by Transaction Wireless by the looks of things

When will this offer expire?

I have a stay coming up at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall. Are the eGift cards accepted at ALL Hyatt properties in the Caribbean including the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall? Looking at their website, it seems to imply that the gift cards are only accepted at 5 Caribbean properties, not including the Ziva and Zilara. The check certificates site says that both the Ziva and Zilara Rose hall can accept the check certificates, though, but the checks obviously aren’t as good a deal with the exchange fees.

Steve

Can I use them to pay for parking and incidentals when I settle my bill at check-out?
