Flying Blue Promo Awards (Click here to view worldwide promo awards)

Air France Flying Blue Award Search (Login required to search for award flights)

Flying Blue is the joint program of SkyTeam member Air France and KLM.
They consider Tel Aviv to be part of Europe which can make for some decent deals.

Flying Blue does charge fuel surcharges on their own flights but not on Delta flights. However availability is much better on their own flights than on Delta flights. When there is Delta availability though it’s significantly cheaper to book the Delta flights with Flying Blue miles than with Delta Skypesos.

-They normally charge 25,000 miles each way in coach and 62,500 miles each way in business to Israel but they run rotating promo awards valid for select cities.

-Promo awards are only valid on Air France or KLM.

-Travel is valid in either direction and is valid for one-way or round-trip travel.

-You need to book the current promo awards by 11/30.

-Promo awards are nonrefundable and non-changeable.

-Promo awards require Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles. You can’t use Delta miles for these awards and you can’t transfer Delta miles to Flying Blue.

Current deals:
-You can travel between Chicago and Tel Aviv in January or February for 31,250 miles each way in business.
-You can travel between Houston and Tel Aviv between 01/12-02/28 for 12,500 miles each way in coach.
-You can travel between JFK and Tel Aviv between 01/12-02/28 for 12,500 miles each way in coach.
-You can travel between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv between 01/12-02/28 for 18,750 miles each way in coach.
-You can travel between Washington DC and Tel Aviv between 01/12-02/28 for 12,500 miles each way in coach.

-You can travel between Montreal and Tel Aviv in January or February for 46,875 miles each way in business.
-You can travel between Toronto and Tel Aviv in January or February for 46,875 miles each way in business.
-You can travel between Tahiti and Tel Aviv between 01/12-02/28 for 30,000 miles each way in coach.

-You can transfer AMEX points to Flying Blue at a 1K:1K ratio or Starpoints to Flying Blue at a 20K:25K ratio.

-For example on 01/20-01/27 you can fly from JFK to Tel Aviv nonstop on Delta for 50,000 Flying Blue miles round-trip plus $84.92 or with a stop on KLM or Air France for 25,000 Flying Blue miles round-trip plus $252.26.

Note that Flying Blue can only book Delta saver availability which is much far more limited that Air France and KLM saver availability. The easiest way to search for Delta saver availability is to do an award search on Delta.com, click on “View award calendar” and look for the dates in green. Then plugin those dates on the Air France site and it should pull up the Delta option.

Want to pickup some Flying Blue miles?
AMEX MR points transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio, Citi Thank You points from the Premier, Prestige, or Chairman cards transfer at a 1:1 ratio, and Starpoints transfer at a 20:25 ratio so 20K Starwood becomes enough for a round-trip ticket.

-The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express awards 25K signup points with no fee for the first year. 20K Starpoints can transfer into 25K Flying Blue with the permanent 25% transfer bonus. Transfers can take a few days.

-American Express Membership Rewards points transfer instantly at a 1K:1K ratio to Flying Blue and can be earned from new cards like The Amex EveryDay Preferred Credit Card from American Express and The Amex EveryDay Credit Card from American Express.

The Preferred card awards 1.5 miles per dollar everywhere, 3 miles per dollar on Uber and gas, and 4.5 miles per dollar on groceries if you make 30 transactions per month.

The EveryDay card awards 1.2 miles per dollar everywhere and 2.4 miles per dollar on Uber and groceries if you make 20 transactions per month.

Both of those cards also give a free year of Amazon Prime for a limited time only.

You can also earn Membership Rewards points from cards like the American Express® Premier Rewards Gold Card and The Platinum Card® from American Express.

Moshe

Does this deal work to other places in Europe or only israel?

GM

Would a return in March qualify also, or only departing and returning in Jan& Feb?

sa

How do I transfer the amex points?

Naomi

Getting technical difficulties anyone got this i am having a hard time

Devora

How many points is it to fly business from JFK to TLV non stop?

BTW

CITI THANK U POINTS U CAN ALSO TRANSFER TO fLYING BLUE

FT

Let’s see how long it takes for someone to ask “Can I book at this rate with Delta points?” haha

the Chicago one is a nice deal, since the flights are operated by a 747 and is really nice in the throne seat (1A)

Igor

@BTW:
Dan wrote that in his post

zalman

Thank you for posting.
Can one make a few day stopover in Paris with this award booking?

read read

most of your answers r posted in the post

mo

if you’re transferring 25k amex, assuming its value is 1.5 = $375 plus $250 in fees = $625 and you wont get 12k miles for the trip, that’s more than double $300-400 deals dan’s found in the past.

sol

Is business class a option on flying blue?

Bobby

@mo:

Yeah, $625 dollars for a flight to Israel= horrible deal.
/sarcasm

UR

I am a UR person, no MR.
nothing for me, huh?

Dan

@barak:
See post.

@Moshe:
Yes.

@GM:
You would get the discounted rate for half the itinerary in that case.

@sa:
Online or call them.

@Devora:
Delta miles on Delta: 140K+$60
Flying Blue miles on Delta: 125K+$80
Alitalia miles on Delta: 80K+$300

@BTW:
Indeed.

@zalman:
I don’t believe so.

@mo:
So nothing is worth posting if it’s not $300?

@sol:
See post.

@UR:
Diversify.

Delta on FB

Dan can you give me more instructions for flying delta with no surcharges on the fb promo?

Atara

Can someone walk me through this or tell me this is not applicable to me? I have about 120k amex delta miles. My husband and I are looking to travel JFK- TLV in February. Should I be transferring my miles to FLyingblue miles? How do I do that>? Or use my delta miles and book through delta? Im really new to all this and trying to figure out how to go about this in the best way. TIA

david

@ Atara
Delta miles cannot be transferred to AirFrance Flying Blue. However if you have other American express points called Membership rewards those could be transferred to Airfrance and then for 50 thousands points only and about $500 of added tax you could have made this trip with your husband

To Atara

Not possible
U got a lot to learn

UR

Dan , only amex I have is delta
What would be a good amex w nice Sb, low or no fee first yr n 5% on supermarkets?
Thanx

chana

I booked a few tickets on DL with Flying Blue miles to Israel. Do you know if its possible to now use DL miles to upgrade to business class?

Willie

I want to transfer Starwood SPG points that I accumulated using my AMEX Starwood card, but when I go to the KLM website, it doesn’t give Flying Blue (KLM or Air France) as a choice in the transfer points section. Please advise. Thanks

Willie

MY BAD. I reset & then found Flying Blue in Starwoods list (not KLM)..sorry

mommyoftwo

@willie you need to transfer from spg.com to flying blue, not from klm. @Atara, in feb you can find tickets for $650 about, so maybe save your points for hotels

Eric

If I transfer Chase UR points to Korean Air, could I use those points to book the ticket since they are members of SkyTeam?

Howie Pielet

I don’t understand how these two statements can both be true:

1. -Promo awards are only valid on Air France or KLM.

2. Note that Flying Blue can only book Delta saver availability which is much far more limited that Air France and KLM saver availability.

Dan

@Delta on FB:
You can’t fly Delta with the promo rate.

@Atara:
There’s no such thing as “AMEX Delta miles”

Either you have AMEX points or Delta miles.

@UR:
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/53929

@chana:
Not possible.

@Eric:
Sure, but not as these rates.

@Howie Pielet:
Flying Blue can book Delta to Israel for the regular 50K rate, not the 25K rate.

high end hobo

@howie
You must have never learnt gemara
The reisha is referring to promo awards only
The seifa to flying blue bechlal

Eric

My mistake. I used, “the,” which I thought would make, “ticket,” a definite article. Clearly my limited English left a lot of ambiguity. Is there any way to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points in a way that would attain these rates?

esther

U say delta regular to israel is 50k – how much would busines be and can i do this in March?

Dan

@Eric:
Not unless you find someone to trade with for MR points.

@esther:
See comment 16 and read the post.

sara

I need to fly to tlv from nyc Jan. 5, return Jan 14. I’ve been trying flying blue since Sept to get a Delta flight nonstop with no success. Finally bought the tkts I wanted for $974 RT.
If I want to sell points for cash, would I be better off selling amex MR points or Ultimate reward points?

rabbim

what are the cancellation policies for the Promo Awards?

Dan

@sara:
Both are valuable.

@rabbim:
Read the post.

DJL

Is there any way to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to flying blue?

DJL

Does anyone know?….thanks

@smi

when using flying blue points on air france can i pay for the taxes with additional points?

mo

ur right.. it’s a good deal and worth posting -thanks dan, …i saw the heading of 12.5k miles and it sounded better than a $300 deal, but when i added up r/t and fees i was disappointed that it wasnt the deal i thought it was.

Daniel

Anyone find a flight combination in Feb for the JFK-TLV leg that doesn’t have a big layover? The TLV-JFK leg has a ton of short layovers…

Daniel

Also is it better to book two one-ways or a RT? In terms of changes, cancellations etc..

Also, anything to watch out for when booking an infant below 2?

shmu

the 12k jfk to telaviv not showing as of yesterday

shmu

@Dan: is there a way to still get it?

Hershel

If I transfer SPG to Flying Blue today can I book today as well and take advantage of this promo?

shmu

@Hershel:
A. The promo is over
B. Spg takes 5 days to transfer

moko

nothing showing for JAN or FEB at 12.5k only showing 25k

shmu

@Hershel:
Only anex MR points transfer instantly.
You can try to see if they Will give the 12k promo its not showing on line anymore.
Lets us know if you do

Hershel

If It doesn’t transfer instantly I guess I’m out of luck either way

dave

Is the 12,500 tlv-jfk one way still working? I’m getting 25,000….

ish

anyone had success in booking with the current promos, doesnt seem to be working

Benny

It’s showing now 25k each way for Jan 20 through Jan 26

frozy

Funny looks like it’s dead already – it’s not even midnight in France or The Netherlands

Benny

Is this currently bookable for Jan 20th?
