Flying Blue Promo Awards (Click here to view worldwide promo awards)
Air France Flying Blue Award Search (Login required to search for award flights)
Flying Blue is the joint program of SkyTeam member Air France and KLM.
They consider Tel Aviv to be part of Europe which can make for some decent deals.
Flying Blue does charge fuel surcharges on their own flights but not on Delta flights. However availability is much better on their own flights than on Delta flights. When there is Delta availability though it’s significantly cheaper to book the Delta flights with Flying Blue miles than with Delta Skypesos.
-They normally charge 25,000 miles each way in coach, 50,000 miles each way in premium economy, and 62,500 miles each way in business to Israel but they run rotating promo awards valid for select cities.
Currently for North America that includes flights from JFK, Detroit, Or Washington DC. There are no business class awards this month.
-Promo awards are only valid on Air France or KLM.
-Travel is valid in either direction and is valid for one-way or round-trip travel.
-You need to book the current promo awards by 09/30.
-Promo awards are nonrefundable and non-changeable.
-You can travel between Detroit and Tel Aviv anytime in November or December for 12.5K miles each way.
-You can travel between JFK and Tel Aviv between 11/05-12/18 for 18,750 miles each way.
-You can travel between Washington DC and Tel Aviv in premium economy anytime in November or December for 25K miles each way.
-You can transfer AMEX points to Flying Blue at a 1K:1K ratio or Starpoints to Flying Blue at a 20K:25K ratio.
-For example on 11/17-11/25 you can fly from JFK to Tel Aviv nonstop on Delta for 50,000 Flying Blue miles round-trip plus $84.92 or with a stop on KLM or Air France for 37,500 Flying Blue miles round-trip plus $258.76.
In that case I’d definitely go with Delta. However Flying Blue can only book Delta saver availability which is much more limited that Air France and KLM saver availability. The easiest way to search for Delta saver availability is to do an award search on Delta.com, click on “View award calendar” and look for the dates in green. Then plugin those dates on the Air France site and it should pull up the Delta option.
-From Detroit to Tel Aviv for example a flight from 11/24-12/02 is 25,000 miles round-trip plus $299.58.
-From Washington DC to Tel Aviv for example a flight from 11/24-12/02 in premium economy is 50,000 miles round-trip plus $457.90.
Air France premium economy gives a more comfortable seat with a leg rest, 20% more legroom, a 20% wider seat thanks to a 2-3-2 configuration rather than 2-4-2, gives 2 free checked bags, an amenity kit, and more. It’s a whole lot better than the sad “premium economy” offerings from the US carriers.
Want to pickup some Flying Blue miles?
AMEX MR points transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio, Citi Thank You points from the Premier, Prestige, or Chairman cards transfer at a 1:1 ratio, and Starpoints transfer at a 20:25 ratio so 20K Starwood becomes enough for a round-trip ticket.
-The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express awards 25K signup points with no fee for the first year. 20K Starpoints can transfer into 25K Flying Blue with the permanent 25% transfer bonus. Transfers can take a few days.
-American Express Membership Rewards points transfer instantly at a 1K:1K ratio to Flying Blue and can be earned from new cards like The Amex EveryDay Preferred Credit Card from American Express and The Amex EveryDay Credit Card from American Express.
The Preferred card awards 1.5 miles per dollar everywhere, 3 miles per dollar on Uber and gas, and 4.5 miles per dollar on groceries if you make 30 transactions per month.
The EveryDay card awards 1.2 miles per dollar everywhere and 2.4 miles per dollar on Uber and groceries if you make 20 transactions per month.
You can also earn Membership Rewards points from cards like the American Express® Premier Rewards Gold Card and The Platinum Card® from American Express.
-You can see the miles and fees for one-way tickets in the images below:

@PraiseCanada:
Read the post again.
You forgot to mention that Citi TYP is now a transfer partner.
@Dan: “For example on 11/17-11/25 you can fly from JFK to Tel Aviv nonstop on Delta for 50,000 miles round-trip plus $84.92 “
Dan you finally learned not to answer something that is clearly written in the post, I mean come on ppl you cant read a few lines ??
@sillypainter:
Indeed, thanks.
Stinks that my checking TY points can’t transfer though. At least AMEX and Chase allow points like that to be transferred via a premium card.
@Anonymous:
That’s correct, read the post for how to get that for 50K instead of 85K.
@Sol:
Indeed.
Anything from Los Angeles
Can Delta Skymiles be transferred or used for this?
@Moishe:
If there were other cities in the US I’d have written about them as well 😉
New cities come out every month.
@Shirl:
If they could have I’d have written that as well.
The only transfer options are already in the post.
@Dan: so you have to check on air france and then call up delta to book with delta miles or can i do it online?
@Anonymous:
No You need to book it with Air France they are running the promotion not Delta!
It’s worth to mention that promo awards are non-refundable
anyway to upgrade to business?
@sl2: i can book online or have to call? and i can do that with delta miles or do i need to transfer?
I have 185k thank you points earned with preferred card. If I get the premier card and add it to my cities login will that give me the option to transfer to FB?
Thanks
There is no saver awards available for a very long time in business
Is there a pattern for what cities have these promotions? What are the most common cities? Thanks
Best/Cheapest way to get from Montreal to Detroit?
@Dan: where in the post??
Does the Delta 50k to israel always work when its available on Flying Blue or is it part of this promotion?
This is the first time Im doing something like this, how do I transfer my AmEx points into Flying blue points?
@yehuda
Call amex
What are the odds that there will be a Promo next month from Los Angeles? or should i not risk missing the promo…? I have to go to israel in nov regardless…
Your advice is appreciated.
How do I use my delta miles for this? (If that is even possible)
Any dates for March?
@Alby:
Small.
@TB:
You don’t.
@Pearl:
Did you read the post?
What is the link to the miles point traveling that u publish their picture
@Yael:
It’s in the post, “Air France Flying Blue Award Search”
Based on past experience, is it likely that NYC-TLV will continue to be a discounted route on Flying Blue after 9/30/2014? Is the discount likely to change (currently 25%)?
Are there any dates available in October with these awards?
They changed back the promo early, it’s now 25,000 miles. Is there still a way to get the 18,750?
flying with 2 kids from YYZ-TLV (very often)but this time WITH AZ (alitalia)and returning totlv- YYZ with KLM.
i know both are a Skyteam member wHAT IS THE Best program to enroll to get most benefit for future yyz-tlv route redemption? FLying blue(with their promo awards)? or alitalia mileaglimia ( they do have kids accounts that can be added to my -parents-account…but they are very strict on fare classes if you have less than Y FAre i believe they dont give full mileage…?
i know that adding mileage to delta skypesos is a worthless program… maybe alaska but not sure my alitalia part will be credited….
any expert advise is welcome.
I purchased a flight from DTW to TLV on Delta through Air France using flying blue miles. Is there any way to get my Platunum Skymiles benefits on this flight? Delta says they can’t add my skymiles number to the reservation, b/c the flying blue number is already on the reservation. TIA!
