@ben: If you miss any leg of a flight with a stop-over, they (might) cancel the remaining legs of the trip. It is clearly in every airlines TOCs. If you skip the last leg, there’s nothing more for them to cancel.

I got a confirmation, then about 5 minutes later 2 e-mails, and two texts letting me know that it was cancelled because they don’t have ticketing agreements with one or more of the airlines on my itinerary. I had booked TLV to Phili for 6/2 with a return flight on 12/24.

went to sleep with 3 tickets and and a email confirmation – woke up to the same cancellation letter. Will now try to use my amex points to book my tickets.
If you got a confirmation go to DoT wesite and file a complaint against US Air. It’s not for sure gonna work but worth a try. At least you’ll be dealing with their executive customer service.

I just tried to book, and when my reservation was canceled, as everyone else’s has been lately, I asked an agent when she thought they would resume selling these flights (US Airways doesn’t have an under 25 category, so I thought it was worth looking into).
She told me that “I just got a message that US will not be open again on our web site so you have to book directly from UA’s website.” Which means that if anyone has bookmarked this website, hoping to use it in the future, you are likely out of luck, as are all of us who were asleep when etickets were being issued….
Mine was charged to my credit card and ticketed 10.26pm EST. It’s on the US airways web site.

I also booked late last night between LGA and TLV for end of May-first week of June (1 week total) for $744 on USAirways. Got confirmation email from the company with a code, and then received an email later saying my itinerary was canceled and credit card not charged.
Not sure we can file a complaint with the DOT on this one. The travel agency is in the EU and did not specifically target US based customers. Not sure the DOT or American law have jurisdiction over the travel agency in the EU because it appears USAirways was not directly involved.
Perhaps their cancellation violates EU law and we can lodge complains through the appropriate authorities there?

DoT rule is for any flight going to or coming from the USA. Doesn’t matter where the company is based.

The fare error is outside OUR control, but it was detected by us, and we notified the operating airline in order to have this corrected
The sale was then stopped as the creditcard was never charged as explained below

Guys, it’s not rocket science, if you have an e-ticket number and got cancelled file DoT complaint, period, it doesn’t matter where Widerøe is based, what CC you used any of those things, don’t waste time with EU regs. Here it simple as submitting a complaint to the DoT (I even provided a super easy template), takes 3 minutes top.
If you just have a confirmation number, again it’s a grey zone, Delta did the right thing last time and honored, so there is some precedent to having the DoT forcing the fare to be honored.
Remember the El Al deal back in 2012, same thing, they forgot the fuel, if they had even seriously tried to cancel my ticket, I had the template ready to go, ironically I later cancelled since I was just gonna use it for a cheapo OW to EU hehe… Regulations in this arena are consumer friendly, use them to your advantage! 😀 🙂

Social Media really doesn’t work with mistake fares, it makes you look greedy (the Blind Man coupon backfired, the Myanmar/Burma deal, etc). Only regulation can help, and not to sound like a broken horse, but I gave out the recommended steps… 🙂
I called the dot and they said canceling the ticket after sending a confirmation code is against the dot guidelines. Period. It doesn’t make a difference how you book it. It doesn’t make a difference if you got an eticket number. Period. If you check the dot website(dot.gov/airconsumer click on the file a consumer complaint link, scroll down to “what happens next”) it says that all complaints get shown to the media and the airline if necessary. The dot representative that I spoke to told me that this complaint WILL get forwarded to the airline. So just file the complaint and the media will learn about the situation.

I just spoke to the DOT to a gentleman named Douglas Davis. He said this is the first he is hearing of the cancellation issue but that anyone who recieved a confirmation can/should email them their confirmation that they recieved from Wideroe. I told him there were hundreds if not thousands of cancellations given and he seemed very upset and concerned. His email address is douglas.e.davis@dot.gov and the subject should read Wideroe/US Airways Cancellation
I’m no expert (and I did file a complaint with DoT because…..well….why not?) but I think it’s pretty clear that there’s been no violation here. The T&C of Wideroe’s website is that the confirmation can be cancelled. You (most of you/us) did not receive a USAirways confirmation, we received a Wideroe confirmation. That is meaningless. It is just bad business. If you called a travel agent and they misquoted a price, they can cancel if they haven’t yet taken your money….
@avi the dot has to this point recieved over a hundred complaints and has a Team of attorneys working on this case so I don’t think it’s a clear as you may think
I looked up the terms & conditions and this is all it says:

Applies to airline tickets
When booking an airline ticket, you are allowed to cancel the purchase within 24 hours after the reservation has been made. The 24-hour rule has been determined by ECACs Airline and Airport Voluntary Commitment to Passengers. Some fare types may have different cancellation conditions which you will be informed about during the booking dialogue at http://www.wideroe.no.
The information you receive from us
Our object is to give our customers as correct information about our products as possible. We take, however, no liability for typing or printing errors that may cause that we are unable to deliver according to the information given by us through our sales offers, marketing or any other way.
We reserve the right to cancel your reservation, or parts of it, in case the product is sold out or there is no coverage on your credit card. In situations where we are sold out, you will be notified about this, along with any alternative solutions we may offer.”
Nothing about “price error”.
For international flights:
If the booking is made at least 2 hours before departure, the ticket will be issued as an electronic ticket that will be sent to the email address you specified in the order process. Widerøe reserves the right to refuse the sale if it is not possible to to deliver the ticket safely and in reasonable time. Widerøe also reserves the right to reject the sale if the transporting airline does not accept documents issued by Widerøes Flyveselskap ASA.
On one of my reservations I got this email
Dear Sir/Madam
Unfortunately we cannot issue electronic tickets for the itinerary you have requested.
Electronic tickets can only be issued for the companies you will find on this list:
http://www.wideroe.no/en/eticketairlines
For companies that are not listed we must unfortunately decline the purchase in accordance with our terms of sale http://www.wideroe.no/en/conditions-of-sale
Please confirm that you have read and understood this e-mail so we can cancel your reservation.
Your credit card has not been charged.

The conformation we received has nothing to do with the airline. It is just a reference number for wideroe. That’s why we can’t look it up on US Airways. But like I said, I filed a complaint and would be absolutely delighted if we get our bookings honored….
Guys! Wideroe is definitely lying that they cannot ticket US Airways. They sell US Air flights all the time and we even saw in the comments that some people were ticketed in this glitch. Also, the representative from Wideroe wrote himself that “Those ticketed will be honored (very few) but US airways has been alerted”
So lets stop believing this nonsense and lets hope for the best.
So we have a foreign airline with no traffic or organization in the US … How is DOT going to be able to enforc this?

Any news with this? I got an email response from Douglas saying to file the complaint on their website (which I’d already done). Did anyone hear anything else?
They didn’t respond to my Better Business Bureau complaint. The DOT has not yet responded with an answer.

In response to my DOT complaint, Wideroe emailed me the following:
Hi
We are sorry that US Airways filed a wronge fare. As soon as this was discovered, the ticketing agreement between Widerøe and US was suspendend, and the purchase was stopped, as the creditcard never was charged. This is according to the salesconditions at http://www.wideroe.no

Got it Friday morning. This was a day after the DOT emailed me a response and a few days after the BBB sent theirs.
Got a reply from the DoT yesterday saying that “they are further investigating this story and if I have any evidence that wideroe charged my credit card I should email it to them”.
How in the world can I determine if they charged my card? Maybe they first charged it and then took off the charge right a way when they cancelled it so it wont show up on the satement…

@Mosh: got what? Your tickets? Have you gotten an eTicket beforehand? Did you get a reservation code beforehand? Did they charge her credit card beforehand? Give us some info!
@Good god: Got the aforementioned response from Wideroe. Originally I got (at the time of the order) from Wideroe an email saying that the eTicket was confirmed (though no ticket numbers were issued) as were the seats. A reservation code was also provided. As far as credit card charges, I have no idea if they charged and then cancelled it later that day when they issued the cancellation.
Pretty sure this is game over. Just got a letter from USAirways saying that unless anyone can provide proof of a charge to their card, they are very sorry but can’t help. They understand that this is not the desired outcome yada yada yada. Thanks for playing. Better luck to all of us next time.

just got an email from the DOT that although cannot be pursued through them, I can pursue the matter through the norway DOT. Did anyone try doing that? How did it go? How did you do it?
