Is this even a deal? This seems to be the standard rates at the hotel all year round.
@DP7:
My hunch is that it’s a mistake, but yes, it’s currently bookable the whole year round.
It should be much more than this even though it’s subpar, no hotels in Israel are anywhere near this cheap and most hotels in Israel are subpar.
great deal!!!!!!!! thanks dan
Got it, great deal…thanks so much Dan.
Hope it works…
For me its coming to $36.61. I did dates 6/22-6/23
Found some rates to include breakfast as well.
whats the difference between deluxe premium and massada suite
There’s a 20% code that works on this booking too: “discover”
That code even works after 9/30 so I got a room for Sukkos with it! Thanks for posting!
pay me and i won’t stay there!
Booked! $68 for the deluxe premium room checked on their website the same dates and it’s quoting $790 a night! Cancellation available until two days before. Thank you Dan!!!
THANKS GOT A SUITE FOR $43
the prices just dropped
if i book as one guest will they charge me extra at check in when i turn up with wife??
@D.: hey ur right, thanks
What Hechsher do they have?
How many people can you have per room?
I got regular room for 60 after tax which is fine for me. Thanks so much it says comes with breakfast which cost me as a non SPg plat like 17 bucks each this winter do two rooms and 6 people the room pays for itself
I’ve been there many times and I think it’s a decent hotel. I just hate driving there (especially at night).
Think any other sites will be booking this hotel but later into 2015? I’m going late May 2015 and you can only book on here into Feb, 2015. Ideas anyone? Would love to jump on this!
I’m curious to hear your reviews after your stay. It just makes me suspicious being under a new name and when I clicked on amenities, there was nothing. I’m not looking for much really just questionable as to how good it’d be.
I’m really interested in hearing about your review if you’re willing to share after your stay.
Do these things book up fast from your experience or can I wait till Mrs (Boss) gets home to discuss options?
Anyone want to checkin for me for a night Stay for my PLAT?
does it work for pesach?
with cancellable, booked bunch of rooms for summer, will decide how many need later, with breakfast, wow thanks!
I booked 1 night while i will be there Lag Baomer.
thanks Dan
Dead I think
thanks dan booked 2 night for lag bomer .
I jumped on this too fast I have cancelled twice so far.
Can you make me cancel one more time plz 🙂
@jayson:
Why? Pls share what’s wrong with the place. Thanks
@StevenTravel: not going to help its not a spg prop
only getting 65$ a night with promo code. Did the price jump?
trying the October dates
booked 3 nights…$80 total….right before sukkos 🙂
Booked 3 nights prior to erev sukos…$80 total incl breakfast! Thanks!!
Dan…. thanks, now we need a flight!!!
Hook us up!
David Dead Sea, Is a dump. I booked a night last summer while it was the le meridian and left before sleeping the night. Mold in the bathroom. Was a disaster.
@Daniel:
How far from the airport?
Dan thanx in advance for a great zman in the mir/dead sea
Prepayment req to Orbitz….is this refunadable if cancelled??
It’s 110$ for a night Apr-8 – Apr-10 cheapest room with two small kids, after the 20%
The total for those 2 nights with tax is 270$
Seems that the prices are slowly going up. Additionally look closer and it seems some rates include lunch as well in addition to breakfast.
@WorldTraveller When you book the rooms, it’ll tell you the cancelation policy. For me ,it said free cancelation up to 2 days before.
I feel like all the hotels at the dead sea are similar – the salt ruins everything! I booked for a night in June for $34.77 using the discover code. Thanks for alerting us Dan!
they charge me more for an infant! do I need to disclose?
@petzel
I was wondering the same, anyone know?
@Miriam: what web site did you use to book the room
Just a side note.. While under SPG it was a decent hotel. For then, 2,000 points it was totally worth it and would go whenever I had a chance.
For $50 I would stay there but $250 I would probably wouldn’t. The reviews now since they left SPG are that they went down in service and quality. I have a room booked for Sunday night so if they honor it I will be more than happy to report back and say how it was.
@WorldTraveller – Yes, if it is cancelled, the charge is Refunded. And if it is honored you can still cancel up until two days before your stay.
whats the best site to get these prices matched and free money
It said no rooms available over Pesach?! Dan, do you know any other hotel deals for Israel over pesach?
Has anybody checked out the hechsher?
im getting bored at booking these, I think Im gonna stop after 5 reservations
@miriam: It’s rabbanute but there will probably be things you could eat at the breakfast. Talk with the mashgiach when you get there. Bread, cheeses, yogurts, etc are probably at under mehadrin hashgachos
Too bad I don’t have a trip to Israel planned in the next year or so.
Does anyone think it’s worth spending more than one night at the Dead Sea? I could see spending 2 nights if you’re in Israel for 2 weeks or more but if you’re there less than 2 weeks I can’t imagine spending more than 1 night at the Dead Sea.
Read the Wiki here for all about the breakfast and hechsher on different items:
http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=11744
Can’t find dates, any way on iPhone to see all dates available n not one at a time?
I need an answer: to put or not to put a 5 month old on the reservation? will they charge me more upon arrival?
Anyone know the kashrus status of the food there?
What is the story with the kids play land?
From these pics, it looks beautiful. Does it not look like this anymore? http://www.booking.com/hotel/il/david-dead-sea-resort-spa.en-us.html?aid=318615;label=New_English_EN_USA_Hotel-ox3suNWvULolOudq13mKhgS25582890865%3Apl%3Ata%3Ap1%3Ap2%3Aac%3Aap1t1%3Aneg%3Akw_inurl%3Abooking.com%2Fhotel%3Aws%3D;sid=0e2fa3621f80120c96507ce4bc5c2dd2;dcid=1;ucfs=1;srfid=9ceb32b0f0937cba4d22d713bd204d90c48a35c6X1
Not looking hot on Tripadvisor..
I booked a suite, didnt add my 4 year old child, is it a must?
I have booked a suite but didnt include in my reservation my 4 year old child, am i good?
Terrific Man! Just booked hotel for my son and his wife . What a deal. Wish I had these prices when I went last year . I would have stayed 2 months lol.
Just got 2 nights in June, although it came out to $40.78 incl taxes, not $34.77
Tip for not staying both nights when it requires you to book 2 nights: call hotel directly and ask to cancel 1 of the nights. Might work.
@kyle: it’s free cancellations. Just book (and pay now) and you can always cancel later.
@@Yehuda:
Call the hotel? Are you crazy??
@Ally:
Hotels don’t care about your little kids or babies, no need to write that.
@Sam:
Tricks like that work all the time for BRGs. Don’t see why this would be any different.
Not a 2 bedroom – looks like 1 double and a sofa ??
DONT CALL THE HOTEL NOW!!!!
Thanks dan!
Booked 6 nights in the summer!
The main pool is really nice!
Rooms are ok, not terrible.
Im only coming up with a rate of $68 a night
Any advice?
@@Yehuda:
Use some brain cells please.
where can i find more info about the rooms?
Anyone stay here recently? Since it changed to David Dead Sea? Booked already but has so many mixed reviews out there. Wondering if anyone knows first hand?
@DP7:
I have stayed here several times, I usually pay $175 – $200
@shmulit: Just called my son and his wife who live in Israel. His wife has lived there 13 years. They are excited about it. I stayed at the Ramat Rachel $250 a night last year which is supposedly one of the better Hotels and still doesn’t compare to say a Comfort Suites even in America if you ask me. So the less you pay the better off you are. Besides what does a young married couple use a Hotel for? To sleep. Rest of time out and about doing what young people do explore life! Im old point me to the food lol.
Of course you don’t call today. You don’t call a 7 room BRG to split it up the day you book it either.
THIS HOTEL IS HORRIBLE STAYED THERE IN FEB AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY A DISASTER ROACHES IN THE ROOM SPOTTED MULTIPLE TIMES MOLD EVERYWHERE EVERYTHING IS FALLING APART TRUST ME THEY EVEN SWITCHED MY ROOM TWICE AND THEN TO A SUITE AND SAME THING> THE SHEETS HAD PAINT EVERYTHING BAD ABOUT THIS PLACE I WILL PAY ANYONE NOT TO STAY HERE. ALTHOUGH I MUST SAY THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT I CANT IMAGINE IT BEING ANY CLEANER THAN THE ROOMS> TAKE MY ADVICE AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE…
Sick deal man booked it for next week for 42 bucks thanks Dan
would advise not to stay there horrible experience when its was spg
@Israel321: What are you going to do there for 6 days? I assume you live in Israel so it’s not like you’re using up days you could be doing other things as a tourist but I just don’t understand what there is to do in the are for more than 1 or maybe 2 days (Ein Gedi, Massada, Dead Sea, Quamran).
@@Yehuda: What BRG can you use? It’s not under SPG (or under any major chain). ??
@Israel321: If you’re Israeli citizen you’ll be charged VAT. If you’re not Israeli make sure to brings your paper tourist visa with your passport.
@Dan’s the Man:
He didn’t say anything about booking them consecutively.
Great Deal!!
@brg?:
Will vat be 18% of what was paid to orbitz?
For all those that say it is horrible, this is what I have to say.
If you are comparing it to a five * hotel then you can’t compare. But if you are thinking of it as a 3* hotel then it would be good. Its no motel condition but no PH Paris. But if you go there not expecting amazing hotel you would enjoy. For this amount it is definitely worth it even if its not amazing.
But I can definitely say it is not horrible and is definitely a decent hotel
Thanks, I made a reservation for a Deluxe Premium room for June.
However, from reading the Hebrew reviews here:
http://www.booking.com/hotel/il/david-dead-sea-resort-spa.he.html#tab-reviews (only the last couple of months) it sounds as if this hotel is quite bad.
Tons of complaints about filthy rooms and badly maintained room facilities.
I’m not going to cancel right now, but sounds like this is a bad deal…
More bad reviews here:
http://www.hotels.co.il/hotelsmain/hotels/reviews.cfm?HotelID=429
@Dan’s the Man, Correct Dan I booked them for different weeks. I live in Israel now so for different small vacations, because there is not much to do there cannot go for more than 2 days.
@brg? Thank you, I am an american citizen
I have stayed there several times when it was the Meridien. We loved it. No problems with the rooms, pool, meals or spa. Definitely a 3* and worth booking at these prices.
Can someone explain to me how to go about reserving this?? I can’t seem to figure it out.. Please!!
I am paying VAT since i got a student visa, but orbitz did include Tax.. so its included in the price
@chagit: You need a credit card to pay for it. Cant just reserve it. Just set your dates and click on the green book now. Have credit card ready.
That tax we paid seems like a 18% VAT tax. I know if you were IDF your exempt from paying taxes for 3 years. Does this tax apply to that rule?
Does the language after “However David Dead Sea resort& spa may charge change and cancellation fee” mean that there is no chance for cancellation fee? See below:
Cancellation:Plans change, we understand. Orbitz doesn’t charge a fee when you cancel your reservation. However David Dead Sea resort& spa may charge change and cancellation fees. FREE room cancellation!Free cancellation before 11:00 PM on 7/15/14!
If you cancel or change your reservation after 11:00 PM on 7/15/14, the hotel will charge you $50.
If you cancel or change your reservation after 11:00 PM on 7/17/14, the hotel will charge you for the total cost of your reservation.
All times mentioned are in local hotel time. If you need to change or cancel this hotel reservation, please do so through Orbitz rather than through the hotel directly.
@brg?:
I didn’t say anything about this being a BRG. I was comparing the situations and think they’re the same – calling the hotel directly to change reservations made through a 3rd party.
Thanks Dan
Booked for next week and again in July
When I booked I accidentally did 1per/room when really we are 2 people/room. Will that be a problem>
ok so if i reserved a regular room for just two adults priced at $170, what will happen when I show up with 3 kids? I also did a reservation for a suite including my kids for $305 for 3 nights. question is will the hotel charge on the spot for the kids ?Cant exaclty hide them….
@naomi: Do an experiment. Price it with 3 kids same hotel and days and see what price shows up but don’t click on book it.
just purchased for Oct 10, 11, the prices were not what you advertised… for 2 adults for 2 nights it was $156 after tax and discount, for deluxe premium, same cost as mesada suite. hoping this was still a deal…. if not we can always cancel. The rooms he mentioned were available, but for quite a bit more. I tested it with 1 person just to see if that was the reason but it wasn’t, it still cost more. looks like the prices are fluctuating… advice, maybe i missed something?
@leah: Leah if you look at the top those dates are not included. They are only available on specific dates although there are a lot of options but with those dates being over sukkot I doubt they would give a discount.
@Mike: @<a
i did. its $305 for a family of 5 in a suite. For 2 adults in a suite its $212. not worth it to chance it for a regular room for $170… too many people in a tiny room.
For those interested I stayed there this winter… Beautiful pool and cool Dead Sea water pool u can float in as well… Nice lobby but the rooms are not high quality and kinda old but I mean this is Israel don’t expect American standards for less than outrageous rates… The breakfast was excellent and it was nice to have minyanim at hotel…. I believe I was told that the dining room had mehadrin chicken which I didn’t know about at the time and u should check as far as that. Two minute drive away is mehadrin milchig place cafe cafe with good lasagna and unbelievable home fries very sweet sauce. As people mentioned the breakfast is mixed mehadrin or not so ask masgiach there if makpid. I have never been to another Dead Sea hotel but from the exterior they seem kinda outdated so I don’t know if it would be worth the extra money to get a room elsewhere.
can i only book for one guest and have more than one stay?
@naomi: so book 3 rooms 🙂
I wish there was a way to check the individual price for each day instead of inputting it one by one…
It looks like its DEAD on DEAD sea
Deal seems to be dead now. I booked 9 reservations earlier, thanks Dan! Went back now to check for others, nothing available. They seemed to have pulled all availability.
@SB: No problem, i did that in the past when it was Le Meridien SPG and had no problem.
Went to book 3 rooms, it said only 3 rooms left, then suddenly, no rooms, ever, for any dates
does anybody have any sure dates? i can’t find any dates that work..
no more room ?
just curios . who takes the lost the hotel ? or orbitz ?
Dan, I missed it. Can you find another one of the like pleaseeeee, for lag baomer time.
i love the dead sea. But cant afford the regular prices
Got it (this morning) for lag baomer week,
$$$49
Thanks Dan
Orbitz charge additional tax, which tax is it? is it Vat?
Would love to know. Booked for people in Israel, and when they show up with israeli ID, hotels (had this in the north, not this place) asked for full VAT on hotel current highest rate.
Anyone?
Any news if they’re honoring it?
@meg: Depends on who’s mistake it was, assuming it was a mistake and assuming it was a loss as you say.
Hi I missed it
I will be in eilat from June 27 th – June 30th
If someone has the reservation for this period
And can’t make it
Please don’t cancel I will buy your rooms
Please let me know if there is a chance

I booked 3 nights will this be honoured?
hey dan your the MAN
i booked a few nights for next week
how can i know before i go if they will let me check in?
ok, now we need good flights…

Thank you.
@rafi: since your booking is in a few weeks and mine is after pesach will you please let me / the rest of us know if it all worked out? Thanks!
anybody jump too fast and can’t make it? i’m interested in your room.
I missed out but would love to buy off anyone’s cancellation for anytime during the week of right after Pesach. Do not cancel and I’ll buy it off at skurnikr@gmail.com Thanks.
@effy: If you don’t use it for next week, I would buy it off you. Don’t cancel. Thanks! skurnikr@gmail
rivky, its all with a name, not sure u can come with no id with same name reservation was made.
also, when I looked, for week of pessach or after there was zero avaiaibility, so I dont think anyone got that time.
i was also looking for that week. was zero, early on.
I know its sold for a pessach program, so they could not sell any rooms..
Thanks for the great deal! It’s been about 4.5 years since I’ve been to the Dead Sea!
I love these deals that those of us who made the move to Israel can enjoy.
Booked 4/10-4/12, weekend right before Passover, for my inlaws and my family. Would’ve booked for my folks too but they still live in the US….
Grabbed Masada Premium Suites including breakfast and dinner for both rooms!!!
If you booked around lag baomer. Week before or week of, and would like to cancel.
please email me I will buy it off u

I’m told the hashgacha is not that reliable .. Can anyone confirm or deny that ? People are writing about there free breakfast or dinner as if the food is totoally acceptable to eat although I don’t know the standards that people keep, I wonder if it’s kosher enoigh for the frum traveler like myself.
(Before Pessach )
Kindly advise.
@Sam:
Sam:
I know what you mean.
The Hotel is under the local Rabbanut.
I have stayed here several times in the past. What I have done is ask to speak to the Mashgiach , who will tell you what the deal is with everything.
For example.
The chicken is Mehadrin Yerushalayim
The Beef is “regular Rabbanut”
The vegetables are Gush Katif
========================
Obviously for Pesach or Shmita(next year) you have additional concerns.
So you have to decide if you are comfortable with this arrangement.
For Breakfast, I didnt have any concerns, (No meat)
For dinner, the mashgiach literally walked me around the buffet, I told him what my hekpeidos were and he basically pointed to each item and said .. “yes” or “no”
Yes you have to trust the mashgiach, but if you dont you shouldnt be eating there anyway.
I hope that this helps.
@Dave: Thank you this makes me more confident about going. What are gush katif vegetables? On a separate note, What you say the standard of the hotel is as far as cleanliness, comfort of rooms and so forth. Thanks again for your help.
gush katif is like bodek here. we liked the hotel. great stay for isreal standards. it is not USA 5*, but nice enough for my taste. u will like it. and please dont be fussy, and dont go with ask for comp shticks. please, your deal is good enough.
I just got cancelation notices from orbitz. Sucks.
I also just got a cancellation notice. Do we have recourse against this? I mean, there are flights booked around this…
CANCELLATIONS FOR EVERYONE!!!
@david:
Received cancellation notice and explanation email from Orbitz, but only for 1 of the 2 rooms.
Maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll miss the second room!
I got a cancellation notice but none of my reservations were actually cancelled???

$30 a room. Confirmed by orbitz.

Can they do that?
Can I fight it?

Also got a cancelation notice from orbitz, arguing that “the rate quoted was not correct and will not be honoured by the hotel”, is there anything we can do? What if I had made plans based on this? Thx
Just got my cancellation notice as well (for all bookings)
any chance on getting this overturned?
@david: c
Me too.

I guess it was to good to be true.
Any recourse?
Same- we were going tomorrow morning, just about to start packing!

I just got cancellation notice as well. Is there any way we can get the to honor these?!
@david:
Likewise (getting a cancellation). Is this allowed? There was a marketed price and we purchased it – is it legal to cancel it after the fact. What if someone purchased airline tickets for such a date…
thoughts/ideas?

As Anon said Gush Katif Vegetables are have a hechsher that they are checked. (they used to grow them in Gush Katif, till Ariel Sharon gave it to Hezbollah)
It is a very fancy hotel, although when I was there this past November the rooms seemed dated and in need of an overhaul. This place is clean.
Of course all of that being said.. Orbitz Cancelled my reservation and probably yours too.
cancelled bummer, anything we can do about it?
Just got cancellation notice from Orbitz saying Hotel cancelled reservation

Orbitz has been advised that, due to a technical error, the rate quoted for your reservation was not correct and will not be honoured by the hotel. As a result, we have been instructed by the hotel to cancel your reservation, and provide a complete refund to the credit card used for this booking.
We recommend that you contact the resort directly at +972-8-6591234.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your business.
Thanks for booking with Orbitz.
Sincerely,
Orbitz Care Team
I called the hotel and they blamed it on Orbitz and said that there is nothing they could do. However, in the email from Orbitz it says that “we have been instructed by the hotel to cancel your reservation” and in Orbitz’s terms and conditions, it says that the content on the site (i.e. pricing, dates, etc.) is provided by the vendor (i.e. the hotel). Therefore, it is the responsibility of the hotel.
I have tried speaking to the hotel numerous times and they have not been helpful so far :(. I’m waiting for them to email me their terms and conditions of cancellations.
Anyone checked In today and can confirm they are honoring today and tomorrow? I am supposed to go this afternoon. Don’t want to schlep if not honoring it. Should I call the hotel???
Thanks!
I just posted in forums to go to
http://www.consumeraffairs.com
Voice your dissatisfaction and check off lawyer box.
Many voices are better than one. Maybe if they get bombed with complaints Orbitz will hear us loud and clear.
I did this last week with a bookings.com cancellation and
they sent me $50 to smooth me over.
Worth a shot for the problem they created.
About time these fly by night outfits are held to a higher standard. They advertise lowest prices best service and additional discounts , then walk away from their commitments. Time to hold them accountable!!!!
@Sara: Please let us know how the hotel responds, and post your experience on consumeraffairs.com as well! i am writing independently to orbitz customer service to voice my dissatisfaction, and to top it off, the paypal charge is from ORBITZ, not david dead sea resort and spa, and they have YET TO REFUND IT! everyone, please be careful and check your bank/credit statements, dont just assume they will refund!
http://www.consumers.org.il/category/complaint-form
you can also go here and make a complaint to the ICC, about the hotel itself, but there is no category for hotel, so I emailed them directly. I think the form would be a good idea for any of you who have the patience, and they DO handle class action suits for consumers in Israel. Who’s with me?
@Mike:
It sounds like a nice way to make the hotel lose a lot of money because of an innocent mistake that they made.
Orbitz headquarters is in chicago illinois, for those of you who want to file a BBB complaint.
@OrbitzCareTeam for twitter complaints!
@Ari: This hotel is notorious for bad service, filthy accomodations, and treating customers badly, maybe they need a wake up call.
@Ari: This particular situation I believe wasn’t such an innocent mistake by the hotel. I was in retail management for over 20 years. They probably reviewed their bookings from last year and saw flat spots not realizing they would get swamped by DansDeals in bookings. It was a plan that backfired on them. If you notice a few bookings were accepted at the end of the day. If it were other way around and we paid too much (which happened to me last year) No one would have emailed us to cancel it.
@leah: Great minds think alike lol
One more side note for anyone that feels sorry for Hotel or Orbitz. As a retail manager and consultant I would have handled this differently. If you notice they have trouble staying in business under same name. I would have conveyed to the hotel to allow the bookings. Clean up the hotel, freshen it up, make sure you install a fully loaded gift shop , all the soda condiment machines are full and a hourly tour guide on call to bring in lots of cash on the back end. People are happy and would recommend this hotel in the end. Instead a bunch of angry consumers who if smart will stay away causing place to change name again. They created their own mess. Lets not blame DansDeals clients. We are the victims here.
I am on same boat. Got cancelled. I am not sure I would scream. It was too good to be true. And all Mislonenim, I was there a few months ago and have zero complaints, why talking bad just for the fun of it? I guess 40 yrs in the Midbar are coming back now this time of the year. The place was very good. you want soda machines?

lets flood their page
@Mike
Great point indeed!
I stayed at this hotel last yeat and I had a great experience. I see a lot of potential there if they beef up customer service and freshen up the rooms. The spa and food where really outstanding.
@Gabi: Exactly. No complaints about the Hotel. Actually I was supposed to go last year while in Israel but my family went without me because I ended up in hospital after my sons wedding. Developed some medical issues flying. This was a gift for my kids as sort of a birthday present for my daughter-in-law and my son finishing IDF finally. Intentions were good. But as I said I would have handled the problem and turned it into a positive if it were my business.
We reserved for April 9 got confirm from Orbitz. On Friday late in day we got cancellation from Orbitz . Got explantion Sat. nite that hotel won’t honor rates. Contacted hotel hoping to make some sort of deal. They said we have to contact Orbitz and there is nothing they can do
I made 5 reservations for different dates but I only got 1 cancellation notice. Does that mean the 4 other reservations still stand?
And how do I know which one of the 5 reservations was cancelled?
HI to all:
Does anyone know if the Oasis Dead Sea Hotel has the same standard of kashrus as the David dead sea?
Kindly advise
Thanks
spoke with the hotel. they WILL honor the reservation. however, it won’t go through because they will charge Orbitz the full amount. The error was on the Orbitz side. So before anyone things of taking UNHALACHIC legal action (taking fellow Jews to secular court before beit din) against the hotel, it would probably make most sense if we follow the advice above to file a complaint against Orbitz.
Not sure I understand sorry. Hotel will honor it if I call?
if everybody calls Orbitz and starts complaining maybe something will be done
the more voices they Hear after more pressure they will feel to honor the reservations
Dan!
We all got cancellations and we want to know what to do and who to call… We didn’t hear your expert advice so far. Would love to hear what is your take on this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Dan,
We need some advice!!
Any follow up feedback re fighting these cancellations? Advice appreciated. Thanks, everyone.
I just spoke to orbitz rep and she said the error is from the Hotel end and their getting now 1000’s of calls why it was canceled, she claims that they are negotiating with them, she says that orbits policy is that hotel must honor the price if not orbitz will throw them off from their site and it’s not good for them cause ppl will write bad reviews
I had three reservations:
1. One room for 2 nights
2. Three rooms for 2 nights each
3. Same date as 2, three rooms for 2 nights each
So far, only first one got cancelled…
I had all 4 reservations receive cancellation emails. Anybody have any luck yet confirming their reservation?
Personally I posted a complaint on their facebook page and about two minutes after they’ve asked me to forward my reservation details to their “socialnetworking” team, but havesn’t heard anything yet…
@Leiby: Not sure if you noticed but David Dead Sea Resort and Spa has already been taken down from Orbitz.com.
5 reservations
3 cancelled so far….
help!!!
I reserved a couple of rooms and got confirmation,but yesterday I received this note form Orbitz.

I emailed the hotel.. they state
“the reservations were canceled by oribitz due to their error”
Whats next? Dan?
I stayed there last night with this deal. I had 2 rooms, a suite and a deluxe. I have 8 other reservations that are spread out throughout the year, so far they cancelled 4 of those. The hotel is under new ownership / management. I stayed there about 5 times last year when it was the LeMeridien. If anyone is familiar with this hotel, you may have seen the Russians who hawk their jewelry when you walk down to the dead sea. My impression is that these russians bought the hotel. All the new workers seem to be russian. The door key cards all have the russian jewelry hawkers add on the back. They seem to be having trouble keeping the place booked up. Not having starwood seems to be hurting them. My guess is the place was only 25% occupied last night. Also, they have been cutting perks like bottled water and snacks in the room. I met a one other dansdeals follower there on this deal, and i saw others who were probably deal hunters as well. I would be surprised if they didnt cancel all the remaining cheap reservations. Its not like an airline that needs to honor tickets because of TSA or NTSB regulations. I cant imagine that Orbitz can force them to honor them. But lets hope…
i made a reservation that was cancelled as well. i got the same email as yeedle 🙁
Orbitz called me, my credit card called me consumer affairs had orbitz contact me and last I wrote the hotel. I would say its probably 90% at this point they honor my bookings.
Just have to do alittle work and get results!
@Mike:
They called you or you called them??
I have 5 reservations none were cancelled
@Mike Can you please tell us exactly step by step what you did to get the bookings honored? You are incredibly vague… You contacted your credit card company first and they contacted which consumer affairs with who?
I got a email saying it’s cancelled called the hotel who said they’re honoring it! Here now it’s beautiful no complaints! Plenty of people here who got the cheap rates thanks to Dan!
Thank you!
I called Orbitz and the Hotel and had no luck with either.
@Mike: 🙂 yes to see any positive outcome though, so far just a lot of smoke and finger pointing. I’m not giving up though.
Maor from the David Hotel reservation said that Orbitz listed “ridiculous prices,” that the hotel advised Orbitz to add money or cancel, and that Orbitz chose to cancel. My reservation was for the Fall. Has anyone had any luck reinstating a future reservation with David booked under this deal?
@Mike: did you write to the hotel in english or hebrew? did you email them directly? to what email address?
@Anonymous: yeah, orbitz still gave me a discounted deal but thanks for clearing that up. they cancelled it anyway so now fighting to keep my rez.
@Anonymous: thanks for clarifying. was originally going to go for one of the dates listed above, but chose other dates after discussing with my husband. still got a very discounted rate, but orbitz cancelled anyway so fighting for my reservation now.
@Mike: Well said Mike, I agree completely. After years of lukewarm ratings (at best) for a supposedly 5 star hotel, you would think they would use the full books as an opportunity to put their hotel back on the map. I have worked in customer service management and business development for almost 10 years and this just inspires a major no-confidence vote. Like many businesses in Israel, the owners of David dead sea resort and spa as well as past owners who ran it under different names seem/ed not to care that service matters, despite numerous complaints over many years. Orbitz especially has no excuse, being an American based company with international clientele.
was very excited about the deal and vacation. Contacted Orbitz through their contact us link whihc takes you through a a step or two before you can actually click an email us button for a form submission.
Mabe you can try OrbitzTLCService@orbitz.com directly which s where the replies comes from.
The David Dead Sea hotel reservation manager email is resm@david-deadsea.com
Orbitz stated the hotel made the error and made them cancel and refund.
The hotel stated the opposite via email that Orbitz canceled the reservation Orbitz put wrong rates. They each blame each other. Like many said, if they were smart they would honor the reservations and take this as an opportunity to improve their image and business…
Any chance we can get an official updated statement on this or some advice from the wise one, the master, the Dan?
Orbitz cancelled all reservations at request of hotel – on phone with Orbitz – they cant do anything – waste of time
called the hotel they said that they only accepted the reservation for the first 2 days because people came already and that they no longer has an agreement with ORBITZ and that there is no way that they can honor this reservations( they had over 5000 reservation with this kind of prices)
The one time I actually got in on time for a deal.
I already had my swimsuit packed and was all ready to float…
I have been refreshing this page and comments once a minute (minimum) for the last week or so hoping for a miracle. Am I the only one of the alleged 5000 people who made reservations who hasn’t moved on from this???
I wrote to Orbitz furious emails and the best I could get was their reiterated apols and a mere “Although we understand your frustration, we are bound, as a travel agency, to follow its supplier’s directions”.
Is this true? Shouldn’t one take responsibility?? I’m new to this but are there any precedents that could support our case?
My reservation got cancelled! I can’t believe Orbitz would do this! Is there anything that can be done about this? In the US this sort of glitch would certainly be honored.
@Hannah: @Mike:
I emailed, tweeted, facebook commented, consumer affair.com-ed both the hotel and Orbitz. All I received were reiterated scripted apologies from all departments and supervisors at Orbitz.
Orbitz has not offered an iota of compensation and has asked me to please (leave them the ^&%$ alone and) contact the hotel for any further inquiries.
And in typical Israeli fashion the hotel replied once with one short sweet line and that was the last I would hear from them.
Normally I might think of or call all of you pigs, for harassing the Hotel/Orbitz over what seems like a price mistake but since it majorly affects MY vacation now, I magically sing a different tune.
Well then, why isn’t there any sort of compensation? Can they legally just cancel a reservation?
@Hannah:
I don’t know but am very surprised they have not offered anyone even 1 cent of compensation…
out of curiosity are there any US lawyers looking at this? i dont know US law but in the UK there is a concept of ‘offer’ (the listing on the website) and ‘acceptance’ (the customer booking the room) this in uk law creates a contract and therefore a binding agreement.. uk law and us law are often very similar so id be surprised if there wasn’t such a concept.
I’ve moved on from the deal though! at first i was crushed, but its life and to be honest the reviews i read about the daniel took the magic out of the deal for me. i wouldn’t be surprised if they closed their doors in the next year or so.
I need to install a filter that specifically blocks me from hopelessly refreshing this thread.
Whichever name I use my wife still knows its me. Now she wants to have me committed for ADCA Acute Dansdeals Complulsive Addiction. I have gehakta tzarus from this. Can I at least incorporate this into my lawsuit for the lost vacation?
Lets boycott the hotel
