Effective today you are able to book award travel on USAirways flights with your American miles on AA.com. More surprisingly, you can book award travel on American flights with your USAirways miles on USAirways.com. Surprising because you have to call USAirways to book any other partner award flights.
As DDF user meshugener would say, this creates some delicious possibilities. Like:
Using 45,000 American miles to fly one-way on USAirways from Tel Aviv to Philadelphia. Stopping over in Philadelphia for 9 months and then flying to Honolulu. And since it’s with American miles you can always change the date of the Honolulu flight for free.
The same 45K award would work in reverse from Honolulu to Philadelphia, stopover for as long as you want, and then continue onto Tel Aviv.
And of course Honolulu is just an example, Anchorage, Miami, and Los Angeles would work as well.
On the USAirways side you can now book award travel in business class to South Asia on American for just 90K miles round-trip.
Notes:
-You can’t yet transfer miles back and forth between American and USAirways.
-You have until 03/30 to book Star Alliance flights with USAirways miles or use Star Alliance airline miles to fly on USAirways,
-You can’t use USAirways miles to book travel on other Oneworld airlines until 03/31. On 03/31 you’ll be able to use OneWorld miles, like British Airways Avios, to travel on USAirways flights.
-You can transfer Starwood Starpoints into anyone’s USAirways account, the last names don’t have to match like they do with transfers from Starwood to American.
-There is lounge and limited elite reciprocity between the airlines. Upgrades are not yet included in the reciprocity but free checked bags, priority boarding, and better seats are included. You can also collect miles now when flying on American or USAirways in either airline’s mileage program.

Can you book US Air flights using BA Avios? If so would you be able to to fly PHL – TLV for only 30,000 Avios? Would there be a fuel surcharge?

phl-tlv on usair business is showing 60K AA doesn’t show that flight at all.
Looking on aa.com, I see tons of non stop award flight availability between PIT and NYC. Can’t wait until 3/31 so I can finally make use my BA avios.

aadvantage is PIA. I rarely fly but if I do it is international to Asia. I have 400K aadvantage miles. American airline doesn’t list all their partner flights online except for few rip off airlines like BA. It always takes 2 hour or more to find an agent and explain the trip detail, only to be disconnected later.
I wish they listed all the one world partner flights online for award booking

Normally, when there aren’t weather issues, AA is great for phone awards. It does help to know what you’re looking for. Even as a general member, I found them to be most consistent, and rarely do you have to play the huaca game.
I had a complicated CX F redemption recently, with very limited F seats available. (12 per week, for one leg) took me less than 30 minutes. I wish I had more AA miles to redeem.
I have a couple million Aeroplan miles and find them expensive when using them with Air Canada. Is now the time to convert my Aeroplan miles to Us Airways miles? If I transfer my miles will the new Us Airways miles have the same value as BA points when booking on American?
Once the full merger happens will the official credit card be Citi or Chase?
(The United/Continental merger was simple as they were both Chase)

They will both work for at least several months. Then Barclay will be phased out, but possibly not before next year.
how can you transfer aeroplan miles to US airways?
Dan has posted in the past that in the past you can transfer Aroplan Miles to Us Airways miles for a 16% haircut. I checked with POints.com today and that is still available, but they said that maximum 50,000 points can be transferred at a time.
Dan any advice on whether it pays to tansfer now (looking to capitalize on the cheap AA awards flights that people book from YYZ to LGA/JFK).
