Update: You can cash out Walmart Cash for actual cash in Walmart stores, with a $25 minimum redemption!
Walmart is taking its competition with Amazon Prime seriously. And they have been doing a fantastic job since acquiring Mark Lore’s Jet.com back in 2016. We have written about many of their pricing wars since then.
Walmart offers Walmart+, which matches Amazon Prime’s free shipping on all items, as well as the benefit of local delivery from Walmart stores on $35+ orders, which Amazon doesn’t compete with.
Since the beginning of 2024, Walmart stock has jumped 76% as they continue to improve Walmart+ and gain new members.
Walmart has also targeted higher-end customers by partnering with AMEX to give AMEX Platinum Cardholders and Business Gold free Walmart+ memberships.
Yesterday, Walmart introduced a year-end review that shows Walmart+ members how much they saved this year. Most members received $15 Walmart Cash!
While Amazon offers promotional credits, they have expiration dates, and you are forced to redeem them if you pay for your order with Amazon gift cards, which I do on nearly all my orders, to earn bonus points.
Walmart Cash is far more useful because it is offered as an incentive on far more items, it never expires, and it can be applied to just the orders you want to apply it to.
Amazon does offer more clip coupons than Walmart does, though Walmart Cash competes with that as well.
Now they are trying to compete with Amazon’s famous reviews, which is one of the strongest parts of Amazon’s website and leads to more purchases.
Walmart is trying to compete with Amazon and hook its users on reviews by offering a $5 sitewide credit on select items.
To see if you have this offer, open the Walmart app, click on your name, or on “Account:”
Then scroll down and click on “Reviews:”
At the top, check if you are targeted for any “incentivized purchases.” I have 2 in my account:
You’ll have to leave a star rating and write a review in order to trigger the $5 promo. You should get a $5 Walmart.com promo code sent to you via email immediately after leaving a review.
The review can be left anonymously, and you will earn a $5 promo for each qualifying review!
Do you have this offer in your account?
What else do you think Walmart will do to compete with Amazon?

Nothing yet for incentive reviews. Maybe they will come in waves to people.
But I’ve been paying $50 a year for Walmart + for the past few years and it’s worth every penny
Is there a way to find out which products offer incentivized ($5 Walmart Cash) review opportunity prior to purchasing?
Had 2 and got it emailed immediately. You can’t save it to your account but need to use the code on purchase before end of march
Thanks got 5 x $5
Just scored $15. thank you so much for pointing this out. I wouldn’t have noticed!
Got it. thanks

Got 4x thanks!
Nothing on my account, but I’m not a big Walmart online shopper.
i got 2 and reviewed both but only got 1 email for $5
I will check my Walmart account but is this something that I can also do on my Amazon account?
I don’t know who these “most members” are? I don’t have any free cash or review cash avail
I had 4 on my list and reviewed all of them but only got 2 $5 emails.
Not all of them will show up in the app. I had 1 in the app and 1 I got via email. Check you promotion folder.
Thanks for posting this Dan! I just looked at my Walmart+ year-end review in less than 2 minutes and I received $15 Walmart Cash!
I submitted a review for an incentivized item but did not get 5$. I also clicked through the Walmart + year review and it said dinshould get 15$. But did not get anything on my account nor did I get an email.
Any ideas what to do?
