Update, 10/16: This transfer offer ends Saturday!

Originally posted on 9/15:

You can get a 25% bonus on transfers from Citi to Leaders Club through 10/19. This is the first ever bonus on transfers to Leaders Club, the loyalty program for The Leading Hotels Of The World.

1,000 Citi points normally transfers into 200 Leaders Club points, but will become 250 points with this bonus.

Each Leaders point is worth about 8 cents each, though it can be as high as 10 cents each. Combined with the Citi transfer bonus, that’s a value of 2-2.5 cents each per Citi point!

Best of all, you can use points for upgraded rooms and suites at the same rate.

You can find participating hotels here.

It’s always hard to find points hotels in Israel, so it’s worth noting that the country has 3 eligible hotels. In Jerusalem there is the fabled King David Hotel and in Tel Aviv there is the Setai Tel Aviv and the Dan Tel Aviv.

I joined the Leaders Club program last year and was offered 500 points in a welcome email for entering all of my profile details. That’s equal to $40 of points!

Points don’t expire if you earn or redeem points every 24 months.

When logged in, you can search for award rates here.

Leaders Club points appear to be worth about 8 cents each. That imputes a value of 1.6 cents per Citi Thank You point. However that value can be 10 cents each after taxes, which would be a value of 2 cents per Citi point.

  • Member benefits include:
    • Upgrade priority at checkin.
    • Daily breakfast for 2.
    • Early check-in and late check-out considerations.
    • Free WiFi.
    • Exclusive pricing.

Hotels in Israel include the King David:

Setai Tel Aviv:

There are lots of other excellent hotels.

In 2021 I stayed at The Victoria Falls Hotel on a bargain rate during COVID with the AMEX Platinum $200 credit and a $300 spa credit. Rates there have recovered since COVID, but you can get a good value from your points at an incredible hotel, where you’ll pass giraffes walking to your room and are just a short walk from Victoria Falls:

In Europe there are hotels like the Ritz Paris, Ritz London, the Palazzo Roma, just a 15 minute talk to the Jewish ghetto in Rome, and the Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel, just a 10 minute walk from Chabad in the Jewish ghetto in Venice.

The Nayara Bocas del Toro in Panama is an all-inclusive hotel with overwater villas. They will provide complementary kosher meals from Chabad!

This is a value of 9.3 cents per Leader Point, which is a value of 2.34 cents per Citi point with this transfer bonus:

The Maldives recently tried banning Israelis, before walking it back. Regardless of whether you’ll still want to visit, there are several excellent redemption options.

This is a value of 10.2 cents per Leader Point, which is a value of 2.56 cents per Citi point with this transfer bonus:

There are many more fantastic Leaders Club hotels!

Will you transfer Citi points to the Leaders Club? Which hotels do you have your eye on?

outside of transferring points, how does one get leaders club points?

xbox 360

are there limited point night redemptions or any night that has cash availability should have point availability?

Dan…finish a booking. You can’t cover taxes with points. I had made some bookings in the past. You get 8 cents per LHW point but have to pay taxes with $

Jeremy

I booked a hotel in Italy. I had no taxes due.

How much would taxes come out to say 1 night at the King David? I am imagining 4/5 at the king david for for 100k points. Seems like a great deal.

Ari

So the Citi thank you website was down for maintenance the entire time between motzei Shabbat and the end of the transfer bonus timeframe… Have you ever had any luck with compensation from Citi for something like this?
