Transfer AMEX Membership Rewards Points Into Hilton Points At A 1K:2.6K Ratio
The AMEX Membership Rewards transfer ratio to Hilton has improved over the years from 1:1 to 1:1.5 to 1:2.
Through 9/30, you can transfer AMEX points to Hilton at a 1:2.6 ratio, so you’ll get 2,600 Hilton points for every 1,000 AMEX points.
Hilton often sells points with a 100% bonus, making them cost just 0.5 cents per point. If you value them at that rate, it would give impute a value of 1.3 cents per AMEX point, which isn’t exceptional, but is a decent value these days, especially for hotel stays.
That will only make sense to buy if you have a specific redemption in mind or if you need more points to have enough to redeem for a 5 night stay, but I wouldn’t transfer points speculatively due to the risk of devaluation, room availability, and hotels being able to leave the Hilton brand.
If you have a Hilton credit card or elite status you get the 5th night free on all award redemptions. You can get Silver status for free here.
Remember that you need to search for various number of nights to find award space at different hotels. Some hotels might have a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 night minimum stay for base rooms to find standard award space. To use the flex calendar, just search for various numbers of nights, click flexible dates, and use points.
For example, the Grand Wailea Maui is 110K points/night, compared to paid rates of $1,000-$2,000 per night after taxes. That’s like redeeming 42.3K AMEX points from this deal. If you have a Hilton credit card or elite status and stay for 5 nights you’ll need just 88K Hilton points or 33.8K AMEX points/night.
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is 120K points/night, compared to paid rates of $1,000-$1,500 per night after taxes. That’s like redeeming 46.1K AMEX points from this deal. If you have a Hilton credit card or elite status and stay for 5 nights you’ll need just 96K Hilton points or 36.9K AMEX points/night.
The hotel has a Rolls Royce house car that can take you to the excellent nearby kosher restaurants.

The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is 120K points per night as well. It’s Trip Advisor’s top ranked hotel in Cabo and is Travel + Leisure’s World’s top resort in Mexico.
With a 5 night stay you can pay 96K points per night with the 5th night free award that is available to Hilton cardholders and elites.
Even the base rooms come with a private plunge pool. That’s an incredible value compared to the paid rates of $1,500-$3,000 after taxes:
Chabad of Cabo has tourist information on their website. They’re located just 1.2 miles from the Waldorf! Discuss more about Cabo on DDF here.
The Conrad Bora Bora Nui charges 120K points per night as well.
With a 5 night stay you can pay 96K Hilton points per night with the 5th night free award that is available to Hilton cardholders and elites. That’s an incredible value compared to the paid rates of $1,000-$2,000 after taxes.
The Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem charges 95K Hilton points per night when they have standard room availability.
That’s like redeeming 36.5K AMEX points from this deal. If you have a Hilton credit card or elite status and stay for 5 nights you’ll need just 76K Hilton points or 29.2K AMEX points/night.
The Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem is one of the finest hotels in Israel.

Is this or using Amex BP PYP for flights with 35% rebate better value?
AMEX BP is a value of 1.54cpp.
This is a value of 1.3cpp versus buying the points from Hilton at 0.5cpp.
That being said, it’s hard to get a better value for hotels with AMEX points other than with transfer bonuses like this.
I would say the 1.3cpp valuation is only valid if you’re an infrequent redeemer. The cap on purchased miles isn’t all that high, and sure there are various loopholes and workarounds, but there is additional value in being able to instantly transfer the needed number of points into the correct Hilton account.
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is most certainly not 120K per night
Just stayed there and it was 120k per night
@Dan Chabad of Cabo is approx a 8 minute walk from the Waldorf, definitely not 1.2 miles
That’s only after you get a ride through the tunnel to walk from your room it’s a nice 20 min walk.
After getting a ride to the end of the tunnel it’s about a 3-4 minute walk (if you take the quicker way, down the hill).
Although I did see many people take the longer way, I think that’s the way Google maps shows)
Just stayed at waldorf amsterdam on 3 free nights it’s definitely recommended, as a diamond member they gave free kosher breakfast
Thanks Dan, transferred points to book the Jerusalem Waldorf in November. Hopefully the points transfer quickly enough, that the point option is there when the points arrive. Any way to get Hilton to hold the reservation till the points transfer?
