Update, 9/7: United is now allowing rebooking onto Lufthansa Group airlines to Tel Aviv, including Austrian (via Vienna), Brussels (via Brussels), Eurowings (via Dusseldorf), Lufthansa (via Frankfurt or Munich), and Swiss (via Zurich).
You can change your travel dates by up to 3 days in either direction when rebooking on Lufthansa Group. You can also rebook to any other cities in Europe or Amman or Dubai on United and change your travel dates by up to 7 days in either direction.
Update, 8/22: With Delta extending their suspension of Israel service through at least 10/31, remember that if you can’t get Delta in the US to rebook you onto El Al, try contacting Delta in Israel. Dozens of readers have let us know that they were able to get rebooked onto El Al by Delta’s Israel office after being denied by the US customer service line thanks to our previous posts suggesting to do so.
You can reach Delta at +972-3-513-8000 from 9am-5pm Israel time Sunday-Thursday (2am-10am ET).
Kudos to Delta for rebooking passengers to Israel as opposed to United refusing to do so.
Were you able to get rebooked by Delta?
Update, 8/15: New DOT rules require United to provide an automatic refund within 7 days of your scheduled flight or offer a flight credit valid for 5 years for canceled flights, if you don’t change your flight to another destination.
If you want to keep your reservation active, you can select a 5 year credit. Your ticket would remain open until a year from purchase as a future flight credit (FFC), and it would then be converted into an electronic travel certificate (ETC) valid for the remainder of the 5 year period. United says you will still pay the fare difference to use the credit in the future. You can learn more about FFC and ETC credit here and here.
Alternatively, you can fly to anywhere in Europe or to Amman or Dubai on United, but you’ll need to book your own way to Israel.
We were booked on United business class saver awards that were rebooked from a cancelation earlier this year, which are now canceled again.
The 5 year credit option is not available on mileage tickets, so you’ll need to switch them or they will be refunded.
United was unwilling to allow us to make any viable changes to our mileage tickets so we took the refund. But that’s the risk and price you pay for booking travel on any airline but El Al these days.
I’m just happy that I was able to visit the holy land earlier this year!
Were your travel plans canceled? How did you rebook?
Update, 8/8: United has suspended service to Israel indefinitely.
You can switch to fly on United to cities like Amman, Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Dubai, Dublin, Dubrovnik, Edinburgh, Faro, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Malaga, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Naples, Nice, Palma de Mollorca, Paris, Ponta Delgada, Porto, Reykjavík, Rome, Stockholm, Tenerife, Venice, Vienna, Zurich, and more, but passengers will still need to buy their own way from there to Tel Aviv and back.
Originally posted on 8/5:
United is digging its heels in and refusing to rebook passengers holding canceled flights to Israel.
After October 7th, United was allowing passengers to be rebooked onto El Al. That policy later changed to Star Alliance partners only and then Lufthansa Group airlines only.
With the latest round of cancelations, United is refusing to allow rebookings onto any other airline, despite canceling its flights for all of August.
Over the past week, they have sent out 3 memos to agents reiterating not to rebook on other airlines. You can be rebooked on United to Athens, Amman, or Dubai, and that’s it. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Amman-Tel Aviv flights have been suspended since October 7th. Expect to spend a lot to fly between Athens or Dubai and Tel Aviv.
While some agents have been allowing rebooking onto other airlines, most are repeating the party line that nothing can be done. Even after several HUCAs via various methods, I struck out trying to get our flights to Israel rebooked to anything better than winding up in Athens. That’s despite United having Star Alliance partner Aegean offering flights between Athens and Tel Aviv and having a Transatlantic joint venture with Lufthansa Group. Agents just won’t rebook onto partner airlines.
That’s a huge contrast to Delta, which canceled their August flights as well. They have been allowing passengers to pretty much exhaust all of their partner El Al’s August inventory between the US and Tel Aviv and much of SkyTeam partner Air France inventory between Paris and Tel Aviv. You can also try suggesting routings to agents on Delta between the US and Europe and then El Al from Europe to Tel Aviv. You can also use El Al’s tool to view flights from Tel Aviv here and to Tel Aviv here.
If United is trying to lose its elite members who travel between the US and Israel to Delta or El Al, they seem to be doing a great job!
Have you been able to rebook your canceled flights to or from Israel?

Kenny must be doing good things if Hashem is orchestrating buying an airline into a profitable venture.
True story.
Not only that, but when he bought El Al, only United was flying to Tel Aviv! What a difference a few years makes.
Yes he does, he helps saves lives by being a Hatzalah Paramedic.
They didn’t even sent me email or message about the cancellation
Same…unreal
Yup same story no email or message, cancelled 7 tickets and then refused to rebook me on any lufthansa group flight after tisha bav(, which may not fly anyway) or elal flight, even though they rebooked me elal when I was stuck in the USA after October 7th. I am not sure why this isn’t against the law? Especially as they have partner airlines they can rebook through? In the end, I moved my tickets(they were fully refundable fares, I had no idea) to fly back for pesach next year. They didn’t want to do that either because they said you can only rebook 7 days further, I then reminded them that they cancelled flights for the next four weeks so it’s sort of hard to do that, then they transferred me to a supervisor, who finally agreed to move the tickets. I think this is the final nail in the coffin for me my family and my business. 1k for I can’t remember how long, and I think it’s delta or elal going forward, especially since elal matched my status and at least I got platinum. #scottkirby, good job destroying another US airline, he makes Oscar Munroz look like a saint!
It _is_ against the law, Israel requires the passenger to be offered a *choice* between a refund and an alternative ticket. Refusing seems to be a violation of that requirement, as they are certainly technically capable of rebooking on other carriers despite choosing not to.
Yup, had to rebook my daughter to lace from Athens instead of TLV, and then buy a ticket on El Al to Athens for $470.
Seems a while already united doesn’t have a problem losing their elite members, they lost me already this year after 9 years being minimum 1K.
My united flights got cancelled and trying frantically to find another option. Elal is basically booked up. The only flights available are erev tisha bav and tisha bav from Miami. Any suggestions??
Maybe flying erev tisha bav or tisha bav. I recommend on tisha bav, erev tisha bav is probably dangerous for dehydration especially as youre expediting the oncoming of the fast
when Lufthansa (booked using United miles) cancels their September flights to Tel Aviv, what is best alternative?
No. We contacted them. They offered to rebook us to Amman. When I asked how much the refund would be they said they can’t tell us till the refunds team reviews it. I’m done with United. Trying to book a flight to Greece and get to Tel Aviv with israair or elal
Daven to Hashem for an end to Hamas and Iran and all their proxies and of course an end to this horrible war! Or better yet for Moshiach to come. And all the airlines will be able to fly to and from Israel in peace.
Amen!
Flight on delta for August 12 to tlv is still showing active, when do they cancel/alow me to rebook with partner?
Try calling and point to their website where it states all August flights will be canceled.
Otherwise, you might have to wait until they get around to officially canceling it.
Correct, this happened to me last time as well. I was able to get thru to a supervisor who was then able to cancel the ticket on United’s end as email only said flights were rescheduled for unknown date.. After this step I had to fight with United to pay for all legs of our return trip.
The waiver already allowed rebooking with no change fee or fare difference even before the cancellations. A few days ago I looked and was seeing AF flights in the change page on the site/app, so we decided (for a relative who was traveling towards the end of the month) to rebook them on AF (those were the codeshares it was showing; there was also an LY codeshare from London as of Saturday night but we missed it). The app errored, so I called, and that’s when I was told that the DL cancellation also applies to codeshares, but that they could be rebooked on any other airline. We then quickly scrambled to find an itinerary, and proceeded to be rebooked on AF to CDG followed by LY, each marketed by the respective carrier. The tickets even booked into Y class, and allowed free exit row seat selection on LY.
Rebooked through Athens. United wouldn’t budge to rebook on ElAl or on United from other European cities. Ended up booking Israir with overnight in ATH.
Whoever is still booking any airlines besides elal is Stam not noygaya.
P.s
I have no love for them just from a practical point
We had United saver business class award tickets for the family, that’s not something El Al competes with.
If we can’t go, that’s hashgocha protis too.
As long as you book with a open mind that you might not go or that the way back will extremely stressful to keep on checking if you’re flight was canceled then you’re still noygaya.
It may be hashgacha if you don’t end up flying with those United tickets, but it’s your choice if you can or can’t go…, you can buy other tickets on different airline that does fly…
Not necessarily. When I was looking over options to fly for an upcoming YT, the choice was between booking British/American, which I would afford, or not booking at all. I’d rather book. If it happens, it happens, and if it doesn’t, that’s hashgacha.
Israeli law applicable for all flights landing or departing from Israel states that even in the case of war the airline is committed to offer an alternative flight or full refund the passenger is entitled to choose, the alternative flight can takeoff up to 2 hours earlier than original booking and arrive up to 4 hours later than original booking, any Israeli court will force them to do that or reimburse a passenger who was denied that
its a shame, people dont know to stand for their legal rights and then airlines feel free to cancel flights, if they knew it would cost them what it should they wouldnt cancel
i was denied rebooking, threatened with a class action lawsuit and suddenly the system allowed it
Who is enforcing the law? How can you force United to do that?
לתבוע בבית משפט ישראלי
I had the exact same experience today. United to me: we’ll fly you to Athens or Dubai but then you’re on your own..
Separate but maybe related Q: was looking to book ticket from tlv-EWR December 4th or 5th and it’s showing no economy class available. Can’t believe it’s all booked so what’s going on?
El Al doesn’t fly on shabbos or Rosh Hashanah
Delta has no available elal flights for aug 14-15
Booked a ticket back in May (TLV – NYC) for August. Decided to book with Delta, because of partnership with El Al. B”h, made the right choice – was able to rebook last week onto El Al flights.
Take the flight to Athens and then file a dispute for the amount of the flight Athens to Tlv with your credit card. They are clearly not flying you to TLV
Let us know if you were successful in this dispute and getting a refund from your credit card for the amount you paid out of pocket for the Athens-tlv flight
What exactly do you mean by that? Filing a dispute for the ATH-TLV flight isn’t okay, that’s an entirely different airline that you did indeed purchase a ticket on. There’s nothing fraudulent going on there, you are the one who made the putchase.
I booked a multi city from nyc to zurich and Tel Aviv to nyc with united, now would they cancel the whole ticket or only the tel Aviv nyc part?
And what would be my best option to do.
Delta didn’t send cancelations for all August flights….when I called to say that I saw a press release (from Dan) they said its not canceled yet and didn’t have availability
Yeah my experience changing my delta flight to an El Al one was rather unpleasant and while Delta did eventually change my ticket they did not make it easy.
Maybe I’m just an outlier and most other DD readers have had easy experiences?
On Monday night at about 1 AM (Israel time), I saw the press release, and scrambled to rebook the flight (even though it was still showing as On Time on the reservation and there’d been no email or other notification), figuring that while I couldn’t get on the DL-LY codeshares, it looked like the DL-AF was still an option, so I’d try to switch to that. The website and app threw errors, and at that point I called in and asked to process the rebooking manually; after a few minutes the agent came back and said that when they cancel flights that cancellation applies to codeshare flights as well, but they can rebook me on any other airline, including El Al, and without having to be limited to flights that were showing up on the Delta app/site.
I tried twice. No luck 🙁
I’m having no luck getting rebooked from delta (aug 14) to anything besides the AF flight which I believe wont fly either unless I’m wrong. They wont do anything since no economy from LY showing. only business
Try finding El Al space from other US or European cities.
I booked with points on chase and im getting thrown back and forth between them, and half the chase reps dont know they can rebook even if i tell them where to look.
Is AF still flying to israel?
air france has been flying consistently so why would they suddenly stop?
SAME OLD SAME OLD – they have stranded hundreds of people and they COULD CARE LESS, 1K, GS, they do not care.
Not only was my husband not notified that his return flight was cancelled when he refused to board the flight from Tel Aviv and cancelled his ticket He had to pay for another cab from the airport. Even though he is gold with United I have a feeling he will join me being gold on el al
He can call and ask El Al for a status match. They will most likely give him gold status for 6 months until he can make status on the merits of his flights/spending.
Just spoke to them, and they were able to book me on a Lufthansa flight on Aug 14th (my original date). Maybe because on my case it was short notice?
We had a booking on the 11th on UA to ZRH and then from there on LX to TLV on the 12th, I called in at around 1AM Monday night/Tuesday morning, asking for El Al (which happened to have exactly the availability we needed, on a flight at almost the exact same time!) and after almost two hours with the agent and a supervisor, was offered Lufthansa or Emirates, saying that they could rebook on any Star Alliance. I explained that I fully expected LH to extend the cancellation, and was eventually told that there was currently nothing they could do but that maybe if I waited a few days there would be some new arrangement or guideline that would help, so we left things untouched. The next morning at 10 or so I realized that TAP has El Al codeshares, and searching their website for a flight from the origin to TLV did in fact show a flight through Lisbon with the final segment on said codeshare, so I called in again (after all, I’d been told I’d be able to rebook on *A seven hours earlier!), only to be told that no, there was nothing they could do, they were only allowed to rebook on their own flights, which of course don’t exist, and offered to send us to Amman or Dubai, which obviously isn’t helpful. I tried calling the Israeli office a couple hours later and was told that there was nothing they could do beyond getting us to Athens and that we’d be on our own from there, and also saying that I’d already been told that earlier (I guess the second agent made a note of that — I wonder if he deleted the original note of me having been told that other *A would be possible, or if the agent I spoke to at that point didn’t bother documenting what I was told).
why didn’t you take the lufthansa or emirates option. if an alternative is offered grab it don’t hold out for convenience… silly
Because those weren’t actual alternatives. In real time, while on the phone, I checked the Emirates homepage, which stated that flights were suspended until further notice. And the Lufthansa cancellations were what got us into that mess in the first place — the whole issue is with the way they’ve been extending their cancellations bit by bit, gradually creeping forward, and I predicted (correctly, as it turns out) that if I’d taken that rebooking I’d’ve been back at square one less than a week later.
In todays situation if you have an important trip, the only way to go is booking el Al
I’m flying lufthansa at the end of the month from Israel to Asia with a stopover in Germany. How would I arrange a “just in case” alternative option to fly to Germany on ElAl and pickup my flight at the stopover without losing my entire ticket and without totally rebooking my flight. Do airlines allow this?
“after oct 7 ua was rebooking on el al”
not sure what you are reffering too ua refused to rebook us and we shelled out 3500 more for ly which only charged 800 for tlv-lax, which was nice of them
+1
Very few passengers were rebooked on LY in October, and that was also after jumping through many hoops.
We accepted a flight from Athens that was delayed Friday.
I called to rebook and was offered to be flown from London.
I flew to London and they removed my flight from London.
Called in and the said I have to pay a fare difference since it is not from amman Athens or Dubai.
After 4 hours on the phone they agreed just to charge the difference in taxes 150 dollars.
Worst service I ever had as a gold member.
Disgusting. Sorry to anyone that has to deal with this, like we aren’t dealing with enough. United single handedly causing chaos for no reason… El al is the only one I use.
@DansDeals
United seems not to be selling economy tickets on any flights on any dates from Tel Aviv to Newark. Do you know if they intentionally paused selling them or if that is a glitch?
I hit a brick wall at the beginning of the week. I finally got one agent to rebook on Lufthansa for 8/15, but then found an LY flight to Venice for this week. I needed a few HUCAs and supervisors to change me to UA flights from Venice, since it’s officially not included in the waiver. I think the least they can do is expand the waiver to other European airports.
On another note, all agents were quoting the ridiculous claim that “other airlines will cancel” stated on the 8/2 note. Do you think they removed that from the 8/5 update so the policy stays even when LH group resumes?
united ehat about from israel
You may want to consider getting them to fly you to/from LCA if they won’t be helpful beyond that. The ticket costs for travel between LCA and TLV can be much more reasonable than the costs to fly between TLV and ATH or DXB.
That said, some may want to consider that Cyprus is way more in the increased threat scope for Israeli interests than Dubai is.
why not fly to jordan then take a taxi to the israel border you can then order a taxi from the israeli border i know somebody whos done it bishaas hadchak just be carefull they reserve the right to confiscate religious items ie tiffilin its happened i know that also
Please don’t do this it’s extremely dangerous no trip is worth risking your life getting lynched by some Jordanians
Not during a war!!! We went to Jordan on Chol Hamoed last year with hundreds of other Israelis. Out of all of us – one nasty agent refused my son entry because he was wearing a yarmulka under his cap. B”H a supervisor intervened. Once in Jordan all was pleasant. There’s a war now – not a smart travel option.
Post 10/7 how was UA rebooking people onto LY? Was it through an interlining agreement?
When, people should stop flying United all together, but many will buy to save a dollar or two, buying the cheapest. When they come back some forget about it ..Flying El Al for over a decade and happy as a lark.
To be fair, only United flew to TLV over COVID…
Yes. Agreed.
I was able to fly to my father’s funeral in Israel during COVID via United.
So I have hakaras hatov them.
I have 8 tickets on aug. 26 NYC to Tlv I called united AUG 2 They didnt want to put me on other airline, called back again on Aug 3 motzi shabbes the guy on phone put me on lufthansa via frankfurt, took an hour to change it because we have infant booked but was done b”h, hope by then lufthansa will fly.
your 8 tickets were with United? I have 4 flying on Aug 28 EWR>TLV and not sure what to do…United telling me to fly somewhere (Athens, Dubai etc..) and fend for ourselves from wherever they take us. Im assuming you’re paying extra for those Lufthansa tickets?
Also what you doing way back?
When United canceled flights last time (pesach) I was on the phone with United multiple times a day just HUCA” in the end I was successful in the fact that they rebooked me my family from TLV-ATH via Aeagen and then a United direct to EWR though we opted for another stopover in London. United also gave us hotel & food accommodations.
The hashgacho of receiving the flights is seemingly pretty remarkable as I’ve yet to meet someone who as successful.
(I bought the original United flight for 39,000 miles, so I had to wait a little bit for award space to open on some flights, BH’ we were staying at family & we didn’t mind staying there extra).
I WAS finally able to rebook my tickets to El Al. I still kept the domestic on a delta to help get my flights. I’m still booked on Delta ( via El Al) on the way back. I have to say Chase has been INCREDIBLE! I was able to book Premium Economy tickets to start because of saving tons of points. While booking American was already having issues. After spending 10 hours (no exaggeration) they got me the Drlta flight. Then they spent hours trying to help me rebook my Delta flights. I can’t begin to say how much I LOVE my sapphire reserve card and Chase. The Travel Escalation Department was INCREDIBLE!
Amazing
What are good options for spending a day in Athens? As well as transportation there. Can laugege be left in airport?
Thank gd I had a decent experience with Delta. Waited on hold for over an hour on the phone but finally got through to a kind woman who spent another hour searching for flights. Rebooked from August 15 to August 18 Delta to Miami then Miami to Tel Aviv via El Al. Way back El Al Tel Aviv to London; London to NY Delta. There were seats available with stops in Miami and Boston.
we have flights booked on lufthansa for the 18th of august for our family. what do you recommend if they didn’t cancel yet, but are giving us the option to cancel. should we wait it out?
HI,
Do you think Virgin is going to cancel their flights as of september to israel? and if yes, would they rebook on their partner airline El AL >?
Will mass complaint to the DOT help anything?
I had a flight departing from TLV on August 14th to EWR which was obviously cancelled called Nell and they offered me to fly through Frankfurt with a 17 hour stopover and they will accommodate at my hotel..
Cool How’d you pull that off
Is United still breaking guitars?
Would American Airlines rebook on El Al?
+1
United rebooked me on Lufthansa flight
When?
I keep trying and they will not offer me anything other than a partial refund, Athens or Dubai.
Had return tickets to TLV for this week via FRA with Lufthansa, booked with United. After the cancellation, chatted and got them to rebook with Lufthansa for the same itinerary for a later date. We’ll see if they return by then.
please let me know when Lufthansa resumes service and when and how you get back to Israel.
Right when my United flight got canceled, I called them and they rebooked me on Lufthansa…. The agent was not The smartest
Please let me know when Lufthansa resumes service and when and how you actually get to travel.
I was trying to get them to explain to me what the difference is between a refund or flight credit if I’m going to have to pay the difference in fare.
You might get lucky and get them to rebook without a difference in fare in the future. But that’s a long-shot.
Dan: You write that they should give an ETC for 5 years. What if the ticket itself was bought part credit card and part ETC ? They refunded CC and gave ETC valid for 1 year. Should have been for 5 years ? Ty
I’d ask for them to do that.
I contacted united, and they said flights are cancelled only for August
@Dan Does this new 5 year DOT rule apply to aa as well? We were booked AA for march..
This isn’t enough. Especially if you already traveled part of the way. I have Israeli friends that are visiting family in the USA for the summer. And now they are stranded in the US. And although United offered to refund for unused portion that’s not nearly enough to book an alternate return flight. A refund isn’t enough, they should have to cover alternative travel plans if they leave you stranded especially.
and it would then be converted into an electronic travel certificate (ETC) valid for the remainder of the 5 year period
is that part of dot rule or uniteds own policy, is that in writing anywhere ?
5 years is new DOT policy for canceled flights if the passenger doesn’t want a refund.

ELAL Israel to Athens, then United Athens to Newark – has ELAL been tagging bags directly to Newark even though on 2 reservations?
Did you ever find out the answer to this?
No way this can work for AA israel office?? You got the number? Thanks!
Delta rebooked me yesterday, RT. Could not have been more accommodating and nice about it.
Kudos indeed.
Amex travel rebooked me 5 tickets from delta to El Al at no extra charge
Has Delta officially canceled their flights, yet.
This is an interesting update. I called the Delta Israel office and was asked why I am calling and why so many people from the US are calling them instead of calling the US office for flights originating in the US.
The agent did look to see what other flights are available based on the days I was looking for and unfortunately none were available.
They did issue me a full refund for the trip.
Yes currently on the phone with them and they are not happy
True, it’s much more exciting to mingle with your workmates eating bourekasim then having a phone call for a change
The American office helped me without any hesitation
Delta will put you on elal if there is availability on elal if not they will put you on with airfrance/elal finding availability is tricky tho
Delta Israel rebooked my family, Upgraded my mother from Comfort+ to Premium economy and was very helpful after the Customer service in the states wasn’t able to change and asked for 3k fare difference
If Delta does not have an El Al flight available search for a El Al flight from/to TLV from any other airport and then find a connecting flight from there on Delta’s website. Speak with an agent and they should be able to rebook you on this flight.
I was booked on a mileage ticket nonstop jfk-tlv 9/12. Delta would not honor the connection on Elal from Paris or anywhere since it was a Delta Mileage ticket. Has any one had any luck with this? They routed me to Athens nonstop and then I had to buy an elal flight.
Did you call the Israel office?
Had a October 14 ticket from tlv to nyc with Delta called the Israel office and got rebooked with elal
Israel delta office didn’t help me
The value is in HUCA
The American office helped me without any hesitation
i have a flight September 1 i called delta yesterday and they said that the flight has not been canceled. am i missing something?
It will be cancelled.
Call and ask to be rebooked. Might be too late by now, I wrote that would be cancelled days ago.
Got rebooked today with the American office to El Al and they even switched my arriving airport to EWR from JFK great costumer service
Awesome!
I just had delta us rep switch my ticket on sept 1 to af as elal had no room but return they gave me direct elal to ewr
More mileage flights (with stopovers) have opened with United partners such as Austrian Air and Lot Polish.
Hi Dan & DD Readers,
I booked a flight with miles and Delta would not allow me to rebook with an ELAL direct flight. They’re telling me that it can only be rebooked with a connecting flight because it was purchased with miles. Is That the case? Any other options / suggestions?
Please advise,
Which office did you call?
US
See the post update…
The US office
I also called the us number and they told
me that since it was booked with points they can not put me on a elal flight ! I then called the isreal number and they rebooked me direct with elal ( the representative did say that since it was booked with points it was harder to change ,but he did it anyway)
Successfully rebooked a few delta flights via online chat,
Tried Israeli call center, they told me they only have 1 flight left for the day I wanted, meanwhile on delta’s site all flights were available and I rebooked to the flight I wanted via online chat.
You can also change to certain flights online for free (IME flights to different airports like JFK-EWR they do charge fare difference online) but all flights can still be changed for free when contacting them
I have a trip to Israel booked on Delta for Sept 12 through 16th. Flights are still listed; nothing has been cancelled. The latest I saw on Delta’s website said flights were suspended in October. Should I expect my flights to be cancelled in the next few days?
Call/ chat to change ASAP.
2 tickets easily changed with US office by phone.
1 ticket through chat with the US office.
All to direct Elal JFK.
Flights finally showing officially cancelled online
Hi I’m not sure about your latest post to call delta Israel office they can help with rebooking on to Ella. First I waited over a half hour. And then a rep told me that unfortunately Israel office only handles rebooking for flights from Tlv out. Anything out of the USA I have to call the US office. Thanks
I just called Delta in Israel and the rep said they cannot help if the ticket was purchased and passenger residing in the US, they were instructed to say so.
amex travel rebooked me from delta to elal business
From economy to business?
Played HUCA for 2 hours, they will absolutely not help me as my flight originates from usa. They advised me to tell all my friends that keep on calling them at 4pm, to stop calling them and instead reach out to the us call center
just to post a new sick united story after numerous attemps to get united to cover my daughters ticket back to tlv i finally got an agent to put her on a rome flight on the 26th of aug and i bought out of pocket an israir flight from there to tlv there was 6 hours between flight so should have been plenty of time to transfer
well guess what on the 26th of aug my daughter got to ewr and the flight scheduled for 840 got pushed back to 10 then 1045 then 12 eventually it left at 245
no way for my daughter to make her connecting flight she attempted to speak to someone at the airport and was told they cant help her she need to speak to an agent by phone or online finally someone showed up at 12 to rebook tickets and told her there is nothing they can do for her except to fly her out to rome the next day when told she missed her connecting flight and there was no availability for any flights from rome for over a week they said for all intensive purposes jump in a lake not our problem while this was going on my wife called united and spoke to 2 supervisors who both told her jump in al ake my daughter finally gor hr luggage back at 6 am no one at united would hel her in any way
why on earth in a customr service based united states is this ok????????
Very frustrating! Sorry about it.
We all have to remember their attitude when they start to fly back and never ever fly with them, we need to let the EWR-TLV flight be empty.
If the flights to Rome was delayed 6 or 8 hours you should get compensation from European law I think it’s 600 euro
What were United supposed to do? You bought a flight with them that was delayed. No airline ever covers a connecting flight purchased on another airline on another ticket. This has nothing to do with Israel or United, it is standard airline practice. Under EU law if the flight to Rome was delayed for more than four hours the passenger is entitled to €600. That is compensation for the inconvenience. It has happened to me and I was very happy that I got extra spending money but if I needed to use the cash to get home, that would also have been good.
The reason i had a connecting flight in the first place was because they canceled my ewr-tlv flight in the first place they should have been covering me back to tlv
I called the US office and got rebooked on EL AL within minutes. Amazing customer service.
Hi Dan, question for you. Delta put me on an EL AL premium (class is W on EL AL and P on Delta) can I earn EL AL diamonds and points on this flight?
Good question, was wondering too, does anyone have experience with this?
If you had your delta skymiles number on the reservation you will need to call delta if not you can add the matmid number yourself.
P.S. the matmid number is 9 digits and you only enter 8 (I don’t remember if you leave out the first or last)
I just received refund on a canceled ticket from August. Does united offer any compensation for this hassle and the fact that my new flight was more expensive?
Would premium credit cards such as united club card have any coverage for this?
No to both
Question. i am trying to book EWR-LHR on UA and LHR-TLV with LY do you know if UA @EWR will agree to check thru my luggage?
My daughter flew TLV-CDG LY and CDG-EWR UA the lady @TLV was very nice and managed to check her luggage straight TLV-EWR it took her about 10min. to do so. i am just wondering if @EWR they’ll be able to do so or wont even bother…
Depends on the agent’s mood.
well connection is tight landing 840pm @LHR and taking off @1010pm i dont think i’ll be able to make the self transfer…
So then don’t do that.
What about compensation for cancelled flights? I had 2 cancellations, ITA tlv-fco, and BA tlv-lhr. Do you get compensation from airlines or travel insurance for cancellations that are due to the situation in Israel?
What about Air Canada?
Do they have the same policies?
I gave up on UAL a few years ago, and I’m not sorry. Aside from this fiasco, they have the most hostile crews especially in the TLV route (when it existed)
This is good, but nothing to be excited about or give United credit for. Rebooking a flight cancelled by a carrier on an Alliance partner is about as basic as it gets in aviation nowadays
They will also rebook an award ticket to a ticket that is only available with cash?
Just tried with a few agents, they did not want to rebook a award ticket to Lufthansa if the ticket is not available with miles. They say that Lufthansa is giving them limited space.
Try Twitter DM or chat?
Tried via phone and chat.
Definitely try Twitter
What is the advantage in taking a five year voucher? If you will have to pay any increase in the fare, why give United a gemach? Take the cash and run!”
is Virgin good with rebooking if they cancel?
Yes
Lufthansa flights from Frankfurt to TLV the past two days are getting diverted to Jordan? I have a flight on Thursday. What’s the reason they’re getting diverted to Jordan. Do you think I’ll have an issue?
No, its just GPS spoofing.
So those flights really did land in TLV? I shouldn’t have any issues? What does that mean GPS spoofing
Yes.
No.
Israel fakes the GPS for war purposes.
I went to book a ticket from JFK to tlv on the Chase Travel site and it shows a United flight with a stopover in Munich. When you click on it its actually a Lufthansa flight. Should that be safe to fly? (obviously its not elal, but relatively?)
Hi, would anyone know if I’m flying to tlv via Athens with United and connecting with Aegean, will my luggage go through automatically or do I need to check them in again? If yes will Aegean charge me ?
Thank you
