Starlux is a new “ultra-premium” carrier based in Taiwan.
They currently have excellent availability on business class award tickets between San Francisco and Taipei for 75K Alaska miles each way.
Availability is best in April, but is also available in other months through July.
You can read more about Starlux business class here.
Alas, it’s not easy to get Alaska miles. You can transfer Marriott points into Alaska miles at a 60:25 ratio.
Ending soon, you can get 70,000 bonus miles plus Alaska’s Famous Companion Fare™ ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) by spending $3,000 or more in purchases within 90 days of opening the Alaska Airlines Visa® Credit Card. You can read more here.

What’s the point in going to Taiwan anyway?
It’s a great place. Safe and not very expensive. There’s a state of the art kosher restaurant at the new Jewish Center.
And if you stay for Shabbos there’s even a minyan
But what about minyanim during the week??
Bring with you 8 people, I’ll gladly join you! 🙂
Shlomi, did you move back to Taiwan?
We never left. During COVID we were spared BH. We actually didn’t miss a (Shabbos) minyan throughout the whole of 2021 and most of 2022.
In case you missed we opened a new Chabad house.
