Virgin does charge hefty fuel surcharges, but there are workarounds to lower than, such as booking 2 one-ways instead of a round-trip as is pointed out below.
Surcharges are much lower for flights originating in Israel, making for some real bargains for one-way or round-trip departures from there!

Can I transfer my points to miles or get the 1.5 travel bonus on my points if I’m an authorized user on someone else’s Sapphire Reserve card (non-household)? Or do they have to be an authorized user on my account? Do the points need to be transferred between accounts first?
