People should just be aware, that is a VERY large dose of vitamin D, even for an adult. And although the packaging says adult, it’s easy for people to think gummies = children, and this is way too much for any normal child.
University of California San Diego recommends 9,600 IU a day .
I wonder if you’d agree with anything else UCSD believes
Got another one ! Thanks !
Good chap! 2 gummies is 12.5 times the RDA for adults.
Isn’t Vitamin D water soluble? If so you can take as much as you want……
It’s fat soluble not water soluble
The NIH reports the upper limit for vitamin D by age group, as follows (8Trusted Source):
0–6 months: 25 mcg (1,000 IU)
7–12 months: 38 mcg (1,500 IU)
1–3 years: 63 mcg (2,500 IU)
4–8 years: 75 mcg (3,000 IU)
9 years and older: 100 mcg (4,000 IU)
The Food and Nutrition Board notes that symptoms of vitamin D toxicity are most likely to appear when a person’s daily intake is at least 10,000 IU (250 mcg) (7Trusted Source).
However, experts have cautioned that much smaller amounts could be associated with health risks. The Food and Nutrition Board indicates that even amounts less than the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) of 4,000 IU (100 mcg) could have negative health effects over time
For this product 10,000 is for 2 gummies (ie 5000 each gummy). Those who are taking vit d 1000-2000 daily (= 7000-14000 per week) can instead take one or two of these gummies weekly, no problem.
Vitamin D can be taken in advance. So you can talk with your health specialist about how much is safe for you daily & then take a gummy accordingly, I.E. once every 2nd or 3rd day ETC.
Do these have a hechsher?
