Update, 1/8: By manipulating the United.com URL, here are the upcoming sales for the rest of the week. Sadly, they are all only for economy travel. The price will be the same, 50K miles round-trip, though taxes for the remaining cities will be lower than London.

- Wednesday 1/10: Amsterdam
- Thursday 1/11: Frankfurt
- Friday 1/12: Brussels
Update, 1/8: Day 1 of this sale is now live, with economy class tickets between the US48 and London on sale for 50K miles round-trip instead of the usual 60K-80K miles round-trip.
Tickets must be booked today and travel must take place between 1/10-3/20. Round-trip travel is required.
I was in London and other cities in Europe last week and have been sharing some of the highlights of that trip on Instagram stories. You can also read more on DDF.
United is teasing discounts on international awards next week.
Each weekday will feature a 24 hour sale to a different destination. This post will be updated as they are revealed.
I’m going to guess that we’ll see discounted Auckland, Frankfurt, London, Paris, and Brisbane/Melbourne/Sydney awards. What cities do you think will be discounted?

Your comment just saved me about $1,000!! Thank you so much!!!
Only with miles? Points transfers to united post immediately?
Wondering the same ….
Yes. Yes.
Doesn’t it depend where you are transferring from? Chase points post right away but I tried transferring Marriott points a couple of years ago and it took a few days to post.
Of course. Marriott transfers are never instant.
in most cases. chase to united can sometimes take a few days especially if you do multiple transfers on 1 day…
You can usually have at least two per day instant
tickets will be refundable ?
yes
Paris
Day 1: London
Dan’s score: 1/1
This is pretty lame. A 10K discount for economy?!?!
I assume these deals will only be in economy and not PP or biz?
Not the cheapest deal. IMHO the best deal is the round trip from ORD or JFK to LHR they both have a day flight, if you want to go to Europe in Economy that’s the way to go.
Would this be a cost efficient way of getting to Israel?
Same question, which of these cities would be a best choice (Cheapest) to get a connecting flight to Israel? and would it be worth it? I don’t have any points for ElAl.
Really great that they devalue our miles, and then get us chasing after these sales.
Their other MO is having nice mileage sales then soon after devalue the points. This current ruse is just that, another ruse to screw the mileage member. They are banking people are stupid enough to fall for this over and over
As expected, weak sauce. Last year there was a sale for 30k RT for winter dates. 50k miles is a lot for the winter.
Complete by mid March
So pesach would not work
Dan any risk to points at amex if close Plat after a year and opened second one ?
partner non-sale prices eg. Lifemiles are cheaper.
True, but higher fees and no free changes/refunds.
can you book these and change to after 3/20?
Will travel to all above cities have to be completed by 3/20?
I have booked economy award miles for me and my family round trip beginning March for about 60k should i just cancel all of them and rebook on Friday?
Just to clarify, I booked to travel to Brussels which will go on sale Friday, does it make sense to cancel and rebook to save 40k miles?
No reason to cancel it before Friday.
This doesn’t seem like a great deal, this is for winter travel only to Europe where it’s going to get dark early for you and the mileage-dollar ratio isn’t good. It seems to be more of a gimmick than a good sale.
Was just in Europe last week, it’s a great time to go.
It’s miserable when it’s crowded and hot.
I need flights from ISRAEL To Los Angeles plzzzz they are so expensive need for pesach!!
*Yawn*….doesn’t seem like a good deal….travel in winter š and mostly 10K off…
Lame!!
Booked two R/T for 100K. Used Global PP to upgrade to Polaris. Priced as revenue, both tickets total over $17K.
I miss the days when flying from JFK to Frankfurt was 25,000 Points and 200 in taxes Delta one. š
