I was browsing my Gmail app’s promotion inbox when I noticed the first targeted ad that caught my eye in the nearly 20 years since Google promised me that my Gmail ads would be “relevant and useful:”
Gmail promotions tab in the Android Gmail app:
Was it a scam? It said Google verified the offer, so I clicked through and sure enough, got a unique code that worked on United.com:
Flight cost without the code:
Flight cost with the code:
The code is valid for a one-way or round-trip United flight within the US48 through 12/22 for travel from 1/9-3/6.
Other readers have also been targeted for this offer, are you targeted?

“We hope you find them” is hardly a promise.
@dan can you try to star and then forward to get a link for this deal?
Tried that, it says targeted offer when you try from another account.
Can you try forwarding me the email to saphirerequisitioning@gmail.com and see if this “targets” me?
This is what shows up when I forward it:
Ok everybody start spamming Google search for American and maybe you’ll get targeted for united
I got this a few days ago.
I got this offer too. The fine print seems to indicate that it works for one reservation (one way or RT) and can be applied to up to 9 people on the same reservation (like the Southwest 50% off promo code),
Unfortunately I was not lucky enough to get one.
