Earlier this year, Hyatt purchased the Mr. And Mrs. Smith booking platform.
However, those 1,500+ boutique and luxury hotels are not yet partnered with Hyatt for redemption or accrual benefits.
Hyatt has launched an interesting Mr. And Mrs. Smith promotion though.
- From now through 3/31/24, you will earn 5 Hyatt base points per dollar spent, plus 1 elite qualifying night for every $300 spent on gift cards during the promo period. If you redeem points for gift cards you won’t get those perks.
- You can buy gift cards for up to $1,000 each and $10,000 per day. You can earn up to 60 elite qualifying nights.
- Gift cards never expire, but can only be redeemed on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith website. You won’t earn points or elite nights from these stays even after the programs are integrated in the future, as those would have to be booked through the Hyatt site for credit.
- Allow 2-3 weeks for points and nights to post to your Hyatt account.
- Gift cards can only be used for the room rate paid and can’t be used at the hotel for any extras.
- You can redeem up to five gift cards towards a single online booking. If you’d like to put more than five gift cards towards a single booking, please contact the Mr & Mrs Smith support team to do so.
- You can choose a physical or eGift card.
You can also save 40% on Mr & Mrs Smith hotels booked through 11/6 with their 20th birthday sale.
Of course, you can also earn nights from stays at Hyatt hotels and if you have the World Of Hyatt cards you can also earn nights from spending.
With elite qualifying nights earned now, you would have status through 2/28/25. However, if you wait until 1/1/24 to purchase gift cards, you would have status through 2/28/26.
Earning elite status:
- Hyatt Discoverist status requires 10 elite qualifying nights, so if you don’t have any Hyatt elite qualifying nights, you would have to buy $3,000 of gift cards to earn this status.
- Discoverist status gives 10% bonus points on stays, free premium in-room internet, free bottled water, preferred room upgrades, elite checkin, 2pm late checkout, and bonus AA miles on stays.
- Hyatt Explorist status requires 30 elite qualifying nights, so if you don’t have any Hyatt elite qualifying nights, you would have to buy $9,000 of gift cards to earn this status.
- Explorist status gives 20% bonus points on stays, free premium in-room internet, free bottled water, room upgrades, elite checkin, 2pm late checkout, guaranteed hotel availability 72 hours in advance, and bonus AA miles on stays. There isn’t a big difference between Discoverist and Explorist.
- Hyatt Globalist status requires 60 elite qualifying nights, so if you don’t have any Hyatt elite qualifying nights, you would have to buy $18,000 of gift cards to earn this status.
- Gloablist status gives 30% bonus points on stays, waived resort fees on all stays, waived parking fees on award stays, club access or free breakfast, free premium in-room internet, free bottled water, suite upgrades at checkin, elite checkin, 4pm late checkout, guaranteed hotel availability 48 hours in advance, and bonus AA miles on stays.
- Globalists can also book a “guest of honor award” to allow another person to be treated to all Globalist benefits for an award stay when using the Globalist member’s points.
- Many Hyatt hotels will also buy Globalists free kosher breakfast where available. I’ve taken advantage of free kosher breakfast in Buenos Aires, Cleveland, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, and many more.
Elite qualifying nights also earn Milestone Tiers:
- Earn 20 elite qualifying nights and you’ll get 2 club lounge awards that are valid for club access for the duration of your Hyatt stay.
- Earn 30 elite qualifying nights and you’ll get 2 more club lounge awards, and a free night at category 1-4 hotels.
- Earn 40 elite qualifying nights and you’ll get a $100 Hyatt gift card or 5,000 bonus points.
- Earn 50 elite qualifying nights and you’ll get 2 confirmed suite upgrades that are each valid on paid or award stays of up to 7 nights.
- Earn 60 elite qualifying nights and you’ll get 2 more confirmed suite upgrades on paid or award stays, a Hyatt concierge to take care of your every Hyatt need via email or private phone line, and a free night at category 1-7 hotels.
- For every additional 10 elite qualifying nights you’ll get another confirmed suite upgrade or 10,000 Hyatt points.
Hyatt base points also count towards lifetime elite status:
Hyatt lifetime Globalist status requires 1,000,000 base points, which is equal to spending $200,000 at Hyatt hotels while earning 5 base points per dollar.
You can view how many base points you have in your monthly Hyatt account summary email or by contacting Hyatt.
That same earning rate of 5 base points per dollar applies here, except that you can lock in these base points now with gift cards that you can redeem on future hotel stays instead of having to complete the stays before earning the base points or status.
Lifetime Globalists receive 4 annual confirmed suite upgrade certificates, an annual category 1-7 free night, and a Hyatt Concierge. Lifetime Globalists are also eligible to receive all milestone rewards as they earn elite qualifying nights, so at 60 nights they would have 8 suite upgrades, 2 free category 1-7 nights, and a free category 1-4 night.
Will you buy any gift cards with this offer?

This isn’t the correct place, but I cannot access the forums now and wanted to let the community know ASAP- effectively immediately (10/31/23) Bond Cafe in Chicago is no longer under the CRC as néw management has opted to introduce a non kosher menu.
