Calala Island is an SLH Resort bookable with Hyatt points.
The hotel covers the entire Calala Island in Nicaragua and consists of just 4 guest rooms.
It’s rarely bookable with points, but there is currently availability to book select dates from September-December.
A 3 night minimum stay is required.
Everything is included, including transfers from Managua, food and drinks (including alcohol), fishing, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, island hopping, rum tasting, sunset cocktails on a sandbar, and more.
DDF member TB12 visited the island and shared his experience on the forums. The resort got him food from Chabad of Nicaragua, with all new pots and cutlery.
The nightly rate on dates I checked in December is $4,500 vs 40,000 points, an incredible value of 11.25 cents per point!

Just try various 3 night stays from September-December on Hyatt.com and you’ll see if it’s bookable with points.
You can then transfer points from Chase to Hyatt and book it.

Nope, just need to plug in various 3 day trips. I had no problem finding several options in that timeframe.

He’s still around, tag him and ask him questions there.
I spoke to him, he’d never recommend it due to the travel time & kosher issues, he says the hotel told him they wont accommodate kosher requests again & just get precooked stuff from chabad, overall not interested.
If you haven’t done so look at the link in the trip report to one mile at a time. Seems like a rough 6 hour trip to get there once you land. Seems good for adventurous type who doesn’t get seasick. If you are that go for it and let us know how it goes.
How long is the journey from NY to this resort?
Long journey and the resort doesn’t look too luxurious and it’s not fully private unless you book all 4 rooms
Seems like rather going to Maldives or Bora Bora or Seychelles are rather much more worth it of you’re going to travel that long.
Also, I don’t believe there is AC in the rooms.
07/01 – 07/04 in year 2024 is available with points.

Other trip reports out there give great descriptions of the place, assuming guys already knew the good stuff I was trying to share my personal experience as a kosher traveler
Travel is a LOT, and that’s coming from someone who really likes to travel and enjoy the journey.
It worked for us because we were in Miami for Shabbos, flew out MS, but otherwise it’s even more.
It’s very well run, couple in charge are on top of everything, almost too much I think.
Great service, but also activities are more limited depending on weather/ other couples doing stuff, dinner timing etc.
They said going forward they will order premade from Chabad, wouldn’t do the self cook option again, it was too disruptive

I just read the OMAT TR about the 6 hours domestic transfer. Completely nuts. Especially the 2 hour boat transfer in open ocean in that roofless tiny boat. No thank you.
