Did you know that there are 133 places you can fly direct to from Miami with your BA Avios?
British Airways Avios can’t be beat for short-haul nonstop flights thanks to ultra-low award rates, no expedite/close-in fees, and dirt cheap award cancellations. Below are all of the direct flights from Boston that can be booked with Avios.
Be sure to read the British Airways knowledgebase and the 22 Things To Keep In Mind When Using Avios for everything you NEED to know about the BA program and how to best search for BA award availability with tips like always booking one-way awards. If you have a question it’s probably already been answered there!
Notes:
1. Rates in the chart are for one-way flights. Generally speaking it’s a good idea to book BA flights as one-ways to give you maximum flexibility.
2. Routes that are displayed in bold are subject to fuel surcharges.
3. There are no fuel surcharges for flights on: Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, Alaska, LAN, and TAM. There are also no fuel surcharges for American and USAirways flights within the western hemisphere, for JAL flights within Japan, and for Qantas flights within Australia. Fuel surcharges for intra-Europe flights are also typically quite low. Fuel surcharges for travel on Cathay Pacific aren’t too bad while fuel surcharges to fly on British Airways border on the criminal.
You can save on the fuel surcharges imposed on Iberia flights by transferring British Airways Avios into Iberia Avios.
4. In the charts below I’ve only included direct flights as BA charges Avios for each flight segment. For example Maui isn’t on the chart as no airlines fly nonstop from Miami-Maui. Though you can always fly to Maui Los Angeles, S. Diego, or Seattle, for 12.5K for the Miami-west coast segment and 12.5K for the West coast-Maui segment with no fuel surcharges. Plus you can stopover in the connecting city for as long or short as you want.
Tel Aviv isn’t on the chart as there are no airlines that fly nonstop from Miami to Tel Aviv. Though you can always fly to Tel Aviv via Berlin for 25K for the Miami-Berlin segment and 10K for the Berlin-Tel Aviv segment with no fuel surcharges.
You can’t fly to Dublin or Shannon nonstop. But if you look at the nonstop flights from Boston you’ll notice you can fly from there to Ireland for just 12.5K Avios in coach or 25K in business. Just book a separate flight to Boston for 10K Avios and you can be in Europe for just 22.5K Avios with no fuel surcharges.
5. BA.com does not display availability for all airlines! If you want to book travel on airlines like Alaska, Aer Lingus, and LAN you’ll need to pick up the phone and call BA! You can search Alaska award availability on AA.com before calling BA to book it.
6. In rare cases connecting flights can be cheaper than nonstop flights when using Avios and I’ve noted that in the chart.
7. Cities in the chart may only have seasonal nonstop service.
8. A dash means that class of service isn’t offered on that route.

excuse my ignorance…..but I tried signing up for the Avios program. It asked for my name and address and required that I have a UK address. HOw do you get around this?
Great info! Thanks!
Are there non-stop charts for other cities available, say, Houston?
Is Air Berlin the only carrier that doesn’t charge crazy fuel surcharges (<$200)? Don't care to see germany but looking for a stopover on my way to Israel… So far it seems Mia-Dus and then a 1.5hour train to Amsterdam might be my best bet.
@barry:
Use the signup link in the knowledgebase.
@Eitan:
YW!
@Jay:
Sure.
Chicago, Dallas, JFK, London, Los Angeles, Miami.
@stst:
You can fly within Europe without heavy fuel surcharges.
You can also connect to an Aer Lingus flight via Boston, NYC, Orlando, etc without fuel surcharges to Europe.
Is there a chart with Direct Flights from Cleveland?
@Jack:
Chicago, LGA, and JFK are 4.5K.
Dallas and Miami are 7.5K.
thanks Dan!!
what do you mean “Use the signup link in the knowledgebase”? On this site or BA site?
@diamond dave:
If you would read this post you would see the link for the knowledgebase I wrote.
I’m planning a trip to Mexico and found that AA has huge number of flights to various Mexican cities out of DFW. Look forward to seeing DFW version!
I tried opening the flight list on chrome and on my phone web browser and it simply doesn’t open
Any suggestions?
Dan
please advise I tried booking with ba avios ,they only have flights available in 3 moths
@Andy F.:
DFW, LAX, and ORD are definitely on the agenda.
@amz450:
Works on Chrome on my desktop just fine for me.
@sb:
Read the knowledgebase.
Or give a specific example, how do you expect “advise” with no detail?!?
Was hoping to see PHL part of the NYC version
@Avi:
See the comments on that post.
I tried to look at some flights on BA using Avios but I do not see the Avios option on the left as you pointed out. I currently have no miles in my account. Does one have to have miles in their account before being able to search for a flight using Avios instead of cash? Thanks!!!
@ Dan: unfortunately YQ added to flights within EU – including on IB Avios – oftentimes more than a cheapo revenue ticket.
Hi Dan
You told Jay that there are lists for a number of cities including LA. I have looked under Mileage Posts and BA knowledge base without finding those lists. Where are they?
Thanks for your information
@Moshe:
You do not need Avios to search, you need to just click on the drop-down menu to change it from cash to Avios.
@nomad:
Not necessarily. Many flights are quite cheap.
@Marty:
No, I was telling Jay the cities that have flights to Houston.
Imho, Posts are becoming too repetitive..
Thx for the lead. In trying to book NY-Miami for Dec. 25-Jan 1, I saw flights on American for points but Avios had no availability. Evidently, they only get a crack at a limited number of award seats.
why I found that it costs 7.5K than 4.5K from Charlotte to Miami?
I transfered SPG points to BA, but it says it can take up to 30 days…is there a way to expedite the transfer?
Is there a chart for Toronto?
I know that NYC and Chicago are 4.5k, but what about the others?
I am trying ewr to MCO in February, but am finding it impossible to find anything less than 30k avios per ticket, going through IAD, ATL, CLT, or Miami. Any ideas? Thanks.
I have found flights from London to other places in Europe always to have a big surcharge. Any way around that?
@zow:
That’s why I bolded London in chart! Bold cities have high fuel surcharges when you use Avios.
The tricks are to fly to Germany on Air Berlin and then book a separate flight with Avios to London. 29.5K Avios and no fuel surcharges.
Or book a flight to Boston, a separate flight to Dublin, and 3rd flight to London. 27K Avios and no fuel surcharges.
Or use different miles. With United miles you never pay fuel surcharges. BA Avios are best used for short flights that don’t have fuel surcharges.
Dan —
Is it me or is there terrible availability on BA for flights out of JFK on AA?
@sam:
You can search on AA.com for nonstop award availability, see the knowledgebase for how to do that.
That makes it easy to find valid dates. Sometimes AA.com will show nonstop saver flights but BA.com won’t. You can call the BA call center in Singapore, they’re the most helpful in booking flights in those situations.
Otherwise consider flying from MIA-PHL where availability is excellent.
@Dan:
Ok, that’s great. I recently booked BOS-FRA-LHR and then CDG-FRA-BOS on Lufthansa for 30K United miles each way, no YQ (fuel surcharge), which sounds close to what you suggested. Shabbat Shalom.
@zow:
Yup, though from BOS you could have gone BOS-DUB-LHR for just 17K Avios with no fuel surcharge.
How would you recommend getting from NY – PHL?
Also, I have found available flights on AA, called BA, was on hold for over an hour. Is that how long it is suppose to take? Whats the best number to call to get to BA to book on AA?
@sam:
Rent a car?
Take an Amtrak (4K Avios)?
Take a chinatown bus?
Carpool?
BA Singapore call center: +65-6823-2095
@Dan: Spoke with Aer Lingus and there was no availability. I suppose I could have waited and kept trying, but I was impatient…first time travel alone with my calah in 20y.
@zow:
Then don’t sweat it!
You can search Aer Lingus availability on United.com, though it doesn’t exactly match what the BA agents see.
Also you need to call BA of course and not Aer Lingus to book on them with Avios.
Thanks Dan!
Found out ZipCar is $15 an hour on weekends, $12 an hour on weekdays.
@sam:
Nice!
There has been very little if any availability from MIA-CDG; MIA-MXP, MIA-TXL and for sure no direct flights in Business. Any insights?
@sam: Regarding Dan’s advice getting from NY to Philly. Dan is spot on as usual but some extra info. If you book you Amtrak more than 3 weeks out you can often get NY to Philly rates as low as $29 so it might be worth it to just pay $29 over using 4K Ultimate Rewards points. If you book last minute the train could cost over $150 in which case you’d get a great use of 4K Avios.
As far as the buses go besides Chinatown buses you can take lines such as BoltBus, MegaBus, Greyhound Express. They offer very low fares and have WiFi and power outlets. If you’re not pressed for time this is the way to go.
Another option is to take NJ Transit to Trenton and then switch to Septa train to Philly. It’s a little more than the bus (depending on how cheap you can get the bus for). This way takes about just under 2.5 hours from NY Penn Station to Philly. If you’re going during rush hour or on weekends in the summer the bus will take a while. The train is more reliable time wise. If you go this route buy your Septa ticket (in Trenton) all the way to PHL airport.
From Center City Philly you can take the Septa train Airport line.
are there flights from tamp or orlando wanting dublin , london or amsterdam
Dan, really appreciate that. Yes, I called BA, not Aer Lingus — just got my Irish and British confused. I’m sure that would be offensive to them — sorry.
@Dan Im trying to book a flight from Philly to Cleveland with Avios and its charging $5.60 Tax per leg. Did the taxes go up or am I doing something wrong?
forgot to mention… even after I hit continue the taxes dont go down…
does zipcar do one-way?
@Avi: The taxes per leg are now $5.60. The new normal.
wow… you can get some steals to the caribbean from Miami.
Are there enough reward flights from Houston to justify a chart?
I don’t think AirBerlin has a flight from Miami to Berlin direct anymore?
