PSA: Your Shutterfly Account Storage Will Be Deleted Tomorrow If You Have Not Made A Purchase In The Past 18 Months!

Shutterfly has sent out emails informing customers that inactive accounts over the past 18 months will delete your account including all images and projects you have stored on it.

You can order a 4×6 print that will be around $3 after shipping, you do have an option to pickup it up at CVS for much less, but it’s unclear if that would be a qualifying purchase as you only pay for it at pickup.

Shutterfly chat did confirm to me that a CVS or Walgreens order will work to keep your account active.

If you value what you have stored on Shutterfly, be sure to make an order today!

I made an order less than 18 months ago but still received the notice. I called and they said it needs to be an order placed only after they made this policy recently. Seems very deceiving to me.

Why?

Why make sure to order if you don’t value what you have stored on Shutterfly?

Ditto

Gaby

I made a walgreens order for two prints last week and stll got the notice again today.

Dan

Those systems aren’t necessarily synced up. YMMV.

DealRaider

So this will be an 18-month rolling purchase required? Looks like I’ve moved them over to Google Photos already.

shimi

Will shutterfly delete saved projects like photobooks?

Dan

Yes

chaim

so does ordering one 4×6″ print and doing local pickup at walgreens/cvs extend your account by 18 months?

your post seems contradictory:

….pickup it up at CVS for much less, but it’s UNCLEAR IF that would be a qualifying purchase as you only pay for it at pickup.

avagyan

What a stupid corporate decision. Saw it today and it’s late already. They sent their email on the 29th, yesterday, the very last day. CS says no way for an extra day 🙁

avagyan

Apparently, they kept a backup. And giving another month. I’m not able to order anything, though.

I am writing to share important details about our recent photo storage policy update.

As you know, we recently updated our photo storage policy to continue providing unlimited storage to active customers who make a purchase every 18 months. As part of this update, any photos stored in a customer’s inactive account would be permanently removed from our servers.

While we sent several email notifications over the past few months regarding this update to ensure that all our customers were informed of the changes, we recently learned that a small number of people may not have received these emails because they were not checking the email accounts on file.

To ensure that everyone has plenty of time to access their photos and either make a purchase to keep their account active or download them to a personal device, we have extended the deadline to 11:59 pm ET May 30, 2023 . If you have made a purchase in the last 18 months, your photos will remain in your account and there is nothing more you need to do at this time.

As always, we recommend you review your account information and update it as necessary to make sure you’re receiving important updates.

How to Extend Your Photo Storage Benefits
• Please visit your Shutterfly account associated with this email address by 11:59 pm ET May 30, 2023 and ensure your account information is up to date.
• Simply make a purchase before the deadline to activate your account and continue enjoying unlimited photo storage for the next 18 months.
• Alternatively, download your photos to a personal device.
• Please note that the restoration process may take time to be visible after you visit your account. If you still don’t see your photos by May 10, please contact us again for further assistance.
• Learn more about Shutterfly’s photo storage or contact Customer Success for assistance.
Thank you for trusting us with your memories and life’s most unforgettable moments.

FAQs:

Why am I receiving this email? The Shutterfly account associated with this email address has not made a purchase for more than 18 months, and your photos and projects are at risk of being deleted. As of January 2023, we updated our photo storage policy to provide this offering to active customers only (those who place an order at least once every 18 months). Since your account has been inactive for more than 18 months, we wanted to provide you with the opportunity to make a purchase to continue enjoying the benefit of unlimited photo storage with Shutterfly or download your photos to a personal device. If you have made a qualifying purchase from the Shutterfly account associated with this email address within the past few days, you can disregard this notification.

What do I have to do to keep my photos? Either make a purchase or download photos to a personal device before the extended deadline of 11:59 pm ET May 30, 2023. An order of any Shutterfly product(s) will meet our purchase requirement, from 4×6 prints to magnets, greeting cards to fleece blankets, canvas prints to photo books and more.

What happens if I don’t make a purchase before May 30, 2023? If you don’t make a purchase before 11:59 pm ET May 30, 2023, you will no longer have access to your unlimited photo storage and your photos and projects will be permanently removed. You will also be unable to download your photos to a personal device after the deadline. Unfortunately, Shutterfly projects cannot be downloaded or saved.

What if my photos are not visible when I visit my account? There is a small chance that your photos may not be visible when you visit your account. This is because it takes time for our system to restore images for all customers. If you still don’t see your photos by May 10, please contact us again for further assistance.

What happens to shared photos and projects? If original photos are deleted from the sender’s account, shared copies will also be removed from recipients’ accounts. To ensure continued access to shared images, we recommend that the recipient downloads the shared photos to their computer or other device and reuploads them to their own active Shutterfly account. Photos uploaded to Shutterfly accounts will be stored as long as the user keeps the account active by making a purchase at least once every 18 months. Shared projects will remain in a recipient’s account, but if photos are deleted from the sender’s account, they will be removed from the shared project. Projects cannot be downloaded or saved to a personal device, so are at risk of being deleted from inactive accounts.

Does Shutterfly’s updated Photo Storage Policy affect digital images from Lifetouch school photos or JCPenney Portraits by Lifetouch?  No, these updates do not apply to your Lifetouch school photos or JCPenney Portraits by Lifetouch images. These changes only apply to photos you upload to your Shutterfly account yourself.

You have to first choose what type of print you want, the size then..
No, please do not select the photo first.

Time to bump this. I got an email recently warning me that my photos will be deleted if I don’t place an order soon.
