If i want to fly in the summer, do you recommend just taking whatever prices show now or wait a few months?
Depends on the pricing for your dates.
Right now, premium seats are $2200 per person round trip.
I’m a big guy, can’t imagine sitting in economy.
Depending on pricing, you might be better off buying 3 economy seats for 2 people than 2 premium seats.
How does one go about buying an extra seat on Elal?
Same as any airline.
But a ticket for first name EXTRASEAT, same last name as yours. The extra seat will even get a free bag as well.
Amazing thanks.
Why not put your name on both tickets?
Is that not possible?
Just wondering
How do you know they won’t give the seat to someone else if it’s a full flight? Is there an official policy with all airlines that you are allowed to purchase two seats?
From united – basically you need to be a police man.
Q: What happens if I’ve purchased an extra seat, but another passenger sits there?
A: If that happens, you must be an active participant in preserving your extra seat. You can also ask a crew member for assistance.
Wow, never crossed my mind. Thanks!
Will wait a few months
Is it expected to go down?? I want to go in the summer.
Will United match?
http://www.ask8ball.net/
Is this 8 ball safe?
Haha barry terrible joke
If I buy a ticket on El Al using Chase points, will I be able to cancel if needed and get a El Al voucher?
Do points need to be transferred instantly?
I am looking to sell my $98 elal voucher for $80 text me 732-503-7598
Can venture x points be used or bonvoy Amex
Sure, just buy the ticket on your Venture X card and you can pay yourself back with points for any travel related spending.
excuse my ignorance.. can you explain what does it mean?
I never heard if this, I can book it cash (not points) with venture x, then tell them I was to use points instead?
They’ll automatically refund the charges and take out points instead?
Yes. You can do that online or over the phone.
That’s the case for anything travel related on the Venture cards!
Can I do that also with bonvoy?
No
Ah ok, so I have more bonvoy points. Don’t think my venture will be enough.
Do I have to transfer bonvoy points before I book?
There is no way to use Bonvoy points for this. They don’t transfer to El Al.
However you can apply Venture points to cover part of a purchase as well.
Thanks for the info!
What is the malah of doing it with points as opposed to cash.
We sell Ventura points to a guy at at 1.2 n if u pay with card u get 2 points per dollar so that’s basically 2.4 per dollar dan wouldn’t it be better to buy with card and sell the points
For people who don’t want to violate any rules by selling points?
Does this mean I can book through ElAl’s website with my Venture X card then call Capital One and change the payment to points?
Yes, after the charge posts. You can do that online as well.
Awesome, thanks!
I’d love to understand the voucher system a little better. Your linked post says you can use 2 vouchers to purchase 1 ticket or 1 voucher to purchase multiple tickets?
Correct. You can also effectively combine more vouchers together for a ticket if needed.
Thanks! So 2 round trip business class tickets (4 business tickets) get you 6 economy tickets?
Would be nice to see biz Tiks on sale…
Amen to this
I bought a ticket online 2 days ago for $200 more!!!
Is there a point in calling Elal or is too bad for me?
Cancel for voucher and rebook with voucher.
Dan was saying for days there will be a black friday sale…
I also have the same issue. bought 2 days ago.
I just cancelled my ticket for a voucher.
I should receive a voucher within 4 days. they said. and then I can rebook with the discount ed price. Or, for $7 you can lock in your price and ticket for 48 hours, so hopefully you’ll receive your voucher by email by then. if not, just buy a new ticket on sale, and leave the voucher credit for next time. it only expires in 1 year.
some dates in dec 2022 also avail
just booked 12/12-12/18 @ 750.00
I’m looking for Pesach deals Dan, you know of any will there be any good deals? so expensive now.
If I buy a ticket and cancel can I use voucher for June
Yes.
What is the cancellation policy?
24 hours for a refund.
No penalty for a voucher.
What is the cancellation policy after 24 hours if you don’t want a voucher?
These prices are for one way. I checked on ElAl and Priceline. Not round-trip. Unless you have a specific code?
Nope, they’re round-trip. What dates are you searching?
Can I cancel within 24 hours for full refund?
Yes.
I don’t see the added dates, I only see starting January
I already have tickets during these dates. What’s the best way to take advantage of this sale?
prices seems to have gone up. December 5 -9 my ticket is $1,045
What’s the deal ?
Dates sell out.
What airline should these be credited to for miles?
im trying to book 5 tickets for february its like a $1000
Dates?
@dan
How do I use my chase sapphire reserve points to purchase the tickets? If you have an article about it I would read it.
Do I just transfer the reserve points to elal points and then purchase?
No transfer. Just follow the Chase link in the post to search for flights and book.
Thank you
Don’t see availability. Need four tickets for Jan 21 to Jan 31. Do u think worth waiting for another deal
four tickets for Jan 21 to Jan 31. outbound from New York
Those dates aren’t listed in the post. Try dates from the post.
hi Dan
is there any deal starting from TLV –> NYC ?
looking for dates 12/30 – 1/8
Do you have any idea when El Al will restart their nonstops from TLV-MEL?
Oman has to open their airspace.
Weren’t they flying this route before Covid?
No.
Although I am not interested in purchasing an extra seat, I do have this ‘theoretical’ question. When flying internationally, don’t you have to list your passport number? Does Mr. Extraseat have a passport #? Also, for flying within the US, how does Mr. Extraseat show ID during the check-in process? Thanks.
Use your info.
Can I book 2 extra seats for myself?
If I book using chase points would I still be able to cancel for refund or voucher?
Yes
I see AA has some dates as well. Is that a better airlince choice (if I am not concerned of the cancelation)? Does one have a better luggage allowance policy?
Also doesnt look like I can mix and match AA and Elal (with Chase points)?
What dates/price do you see AA?
They both allow 1 checked bag. You can’t mix airlines.
$846.. ElAl is $150 more for that date..
Would you go with AA?
Can’t get the El Al sale by traveling on adjacent dates?
Not for my dates. Trying to maximize stay in Israel. If I did a day later I can.. My dates are Dec 3 to the 13. NYC.. would prefer EWR though…
Now that El Al is under new Frum ownership, are they more sensitive to their Frum / Religious clientele in regard to seating, Davening (praying) and special Kosher meals?
Yes, steadily improving.
if i buy a ticket and then cancel and get a voucher and want to travel at a time that prices are higher, will i have to add money to the voucher?
The voucher is for the price you paid. If the cost of the new ticket is higher, you’ll have to pay the difference. If it’s less you’ll get back the residual.
Would you recommend paying more for delta over AA?
The 24 hour cancelation policy, is that exactly 24 hours from booking or it starts at midnight? (Which can add a few more hours)
is there any promotion for regular amex platinum points transfer to el al?
are there any deals on tlv – mia/nyc, when departing from tlv?
when is the sale until?
How long does it take after canceling my ticket to receive the matmid voucher?
Sorry for my ignorance, can someone explain what are the advantages of a voucher?
“Use a card like Sapphire Preferred, Ink Preferred, or Sapphire Reserve to earn 2-3 Chase points per dollar spent and get free trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel accident insurance, luggage insurance, trip and luggage delay protection, and more!” IS THIS ALSO IF I BUY WITH SAPPHIRE RESERVE POINTS?
Yes.
Does this apply for flights starting in Israel?
Can a ticket for a baby (not paid seat) be booked this way or do I need a travel agent to do the booking?
do capital one venture x points combine with $300 travel credit on the card- so if have 1200 woth in points can effectively buy 1500 with point+credit?
Are there any El Al flights that don’t carry meisim?
Yes, their EWR-TLV flights do not.
so does united and American carry meisem
Dan, I just booked a flight 1 way with el al and 1 way with delta and i think i got a cool trick to save over 700$.
On my delta flight back, it said only 1 first class ticket left at their price. But i needed 2 so i opened up priceline in 1 browser and delta on another browser and booked the flight on each at the same time and both went through at the lower price!!
Hello Dan,
I need your advice.
I have 114k Capital One points, and 90k Citi Thank You points. I am trying to buy a business ticket on El Al direct from NY to TLV, January 18-28. Is there any way I can redeem my points for that business ticket? If not, do you have any suggestions how I can rack up points for it?
Thank you
Yaakov
Just to be clear, if I want to fly in August, can I book some dates now and then cancel for a voucher to be used then?
Or is the voucher just for the cash value, and I’ll have to pay the difference then? If so, what’s stopping people from just finding the cheapest current deal and reusing the vouchers during the more expensive months?
The voucher would be for the amount you paid. If your new itinerary costs more, you have to pay the difference. Otherwise like you said everyone would book the cheap fares and then rebook a more expensive flight.
Is the United or El Al frequent flyer program better for upgrades if you are flying 4-5 times per year to Israel? I am a platinum member on United but have no status on El Al.
1) is it worth it to book tickets now for the summer if they are coming in at 1100-1200 a ticket or wait?
2) If I book on sapphire preferred and I can’t go lets say because I have a wedding is that something that would qualify for free trip cancelation?
3) with free trip cancelation do I get my full money back…
I live in Israel and want to come to America and return at the end of January, I want o travel premium economy, Any advice on how to travel the least expensive way?
I booked this with my chase sapphire reserve and now something came up and I really can’t make my flight, they’re telling me there’s a $260/ticket penalty !!
Please dan help. I thought it’s full transferable credit
Request a voucher here:
https://www.elal.com/en/PassengersInfo/Pages/Flight-Ticket-Credit.aspx
IThe Chase sapphire reserve I signed up last month said something in your post about trip interruption. Does that cover not being about to fly bc child getting the flu?
See details here:
https://static.chasecdn.com/content/services/structured-document/document.en.pdf/card/benefits-center/product-benefits-guide-pdf/BGC10999_JPMReserve_VisaInfinite.pdf
What a disaster! Because it wasn’t direct with El Al, the terms aren’t the same! You don’t get voucher to use any time and transferable.
They’re locking me in for 1 year to use it and only same passengers.
I had no problem getting a voucher for an AMEX booking.
I’d suggest HUCA.
You did it through El Al or through Amex
El Al
