Update: Last year Amazon offered Amazon Business Prime Duo for free for 1 year. That program is now free for the life of your Prime account! You can have a regular Prime account and a Business Prime account for just 1 yearly Prime fee.
While Amazon’s consumer site has more promotions and coupon offers, Amazon’s business site can have better pricing than Amazon’s consumer account for a variety of items.
You will need to apply and get approved for a business account here.
You’ll want to open a new login for the business account so that you don’t lose out on consumer account offers. I used plus aliasing to open a new account as Gmail ignores the + sign and anything after it. In other words if your email address is Brian@gmail.com, you can open another account with Brian+1@gmail.com and your emails will go to your regular Brian@gmail.com inbox. It’s a great way to open additional accounts anywhere.
One problem with a business account is that if you want Prime shipping, you need to buy that account it’s own Prime membership.
But now Amazon is offering a free year of Prime Duo, which is when you have Prime on your personal and your linked business account. This normally costs $69/year on top of a regular Prime Membership fee, but you can get a year free with the current promotion.
I have personal Prime and a non-prime business account, so with this promotion I can now get free shipping on great business deals such as this Tripp Lite 3 Outlet Portable Surge Protector Power Strip which normally costs $11.50 from Amazon’s consumer site, but is on sale for just $1.58 on Amazon’s business site!
Will you sign up for a free year of Prime Duo? What deals have your scored with a business account?
HT: Yuneeq.
Amazon offers free shipping with $35+ orders or get free next-day shipping on all orders with a free trial of Amazon Prime. Prime members can share benefits with a Household member here, allowing them to double up on Amazon Prime promos! A 6 month trial and discounted Prime membership is available with Amazon Student. EBT/Medicaid Cardholders can save on Prime Membership here.

I opened a business account. Can’t get this to work. Says I can get 30 days free duo. I did link my prime and business accounts. What else do I have to do?
I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with various reps. It seems that this offer is by invitation only. If you didn’t receive the email it will not work!
I don’t get it. I have had an Amazon business account for years linked to my personal Amazon prime account. The option was at the bottom of the personal Prime page, there is a tab saying Share your Prime benefits, with an option for Amazon Household and another one for Amazon Business. It says: You share the following Prime benefits with your Amazon Business user account:
Fast & FREE Prime Shipping benefits
Early access to Amazon Lightning Deals
I am not sure how I did it but I only pay once for both my personal and business accounts’ prime.
I still see $69
Another thing if you have the Amazon Business Amex Card you only get 3% back with regular prime but will now get 5% back with your business prime purchases
Thanks, Now I’ll start to use my Business account more often.
But you need to start posting Business only deals!
Just that easy! Great offer! Thanks Dan! Congratulations, you have successfully activated Business Prime for your business account.
Like Michael, I’m only getting the 30 day free trial.
Dan, why the +email and not just a completely different email?
That way your emails all go to the same place. You can also track if any place is selling your email address by +aliasing that places name.
What will you do if you need to email Amazon for your business account and you have the alias account but can’t send an email from the alias
You can change the send as in the gmail settings to include an alias
Tried a few times. Not working for me. Giving up…..maybe it’s targeted.
best part of business amazon is that evrything is tax free
By linking the business account to my personal account I will not loose the personal grandfathered accounts with 5 sub users?
I also signed up for a business account and the link provided only offers a 30-day trial of Duo.
I am on a chat with amazon and they are denying that this offer exists. Dan do you have a link to something or a screenshot of an email??

Doesnt work if you have Household Prime account as your personal account.
mine did, are you the primary adult account holder or the 2nd adult in the household?
Same. Didn’t work for me. Said you need a prime account. I do. So disappointing. I only created the business account to link it here. I doubt I will ever use it if it doesn’t have prime benefits.
The surge protector is $11.13 on Business prime, not $1.58
Will this work if the prime account is a free grandfathered shared account?
I doubt it
I linked the two but not sure if I have business prime now?
Got it – thanks Dan
Have an exisitng business account [which I don’t use because there is no Prime on it.] Nothing doing for me when I click this link, other than asking me to pay for Prime.
They closed my business account stating my usage does not align with their business practices. Is there anyway to get my business account restored?
If i have tax exempt, will it apply to both accounts?
And if i do amazon delivery day can i still get 1% because i’m not paying for a “business account”
Automatically applied to my business linked account. Received an email stating so. No need to do anything
Does the name on the personal account have to match name on business account?
B”H I got this, too. Dan you came through yet again!
