Continental and Northwest: This may change at any time, but neither of these airlines have ever expired their members’ miles. Kudos to them, and here’s hoping that they retain this (rare for the industry) customer-friendly policy!
AA: You must have account activity at least once in 18 months. If your last account activity was 07/01/06, then you must have activity by 12/31/07 to keep your miles. If your last account activity was 07/16/06, then you must have activity by 01/15/08 to keep your miles.
Delta: You must have account activity at least once in 2 years. A grace period is currently given until the last day of the 2nd year. If your last account activity was 07/01/06, then you must have activity by 12/31/08 to keep your miles. If your last account activity was 12/15/05, then you must have activity by 12/31/07 to keep your miles.
Delta has eliminated the end of year grace period. Currently if your last account activity was 07/01/06, then you must have activity by 07/31/08 to keep your miles.
United: You must have account activity at least once in 18 months. A grace period is given until the last day of the month after the 18th month. If your last account activity was 07/01/06, then you must have activity by 01/31/08 to keep your miles. If your last account activity was 10/15/06, then you must have activity by 04/30/08 to keep your miles.
Hotel Programs (Hilton, Hyatt, Starwood, etc.): In general most require activity once every 12 months.

Do starwood points ever expire?
I ordered magazines for miles from my delta skymiles account about 5 weeks ago and it still never posted to my acount nor did I receive the subscription. I don’t want my miles to expire. today is the last day! any ideas for what I can do? will it still be counted as activity before the deadline even though it hasn’t posted to my account before the deadline?
the quickest way to have it post (instantly is to buy delta miles its going to cost you about 30 bucks.
I think you are mistaken with the AA miles I also thought it was today I checked my wifes account they expired on the 12/15 if you read the website 12/15 was the expiration date for the new 18 month policy not today. I am about to call to see if they will do me the favor and reinstate and then do somesort of activity to keep them

If your wife’s miles expired on 12/15/07, then she hasn’t had AA activity since 06/14/06 or earlier.
If it’s later than that then AA made a mistake.
I have about 18,000 Delta SkyMiles. do you think it is worth the $30 or so to buy miles so that they don’t expire?
