How many site features are you taking advantage of?
- Discuss or ask about whatever is on your mind and dig deeper into all kinds of deals at DDF (DansDeals Forums) at www.dansdeals.com/forums. Feel free to browse the wealth of information there and click on “register” in order to be able to start posting your own tips or ask questions about anything you’d like to know about. If you haven’t been to the forums recently be sure to check out the new Wiki feature. Many threads now have a Wiki (found on the first page of a thread) to help summarize the entire topic. - Join the 6,300+ people following the DansDeals.com facebook group who used to get instant email alerts of only the hottest deals before facebook stupidly turned off the “email group” feature. Now it’s more of a poorly organized forum for people too lazy to join DDF though I’m always open for suggestions on what to do with the group.
- Subscribe to the DansDeals.com RSS feed at http://www.dansdeals.com/feed, or to the DansDeals comments RSS feed at http://www.dansdeals.com/comments/feed where you can get updates on all the recent comments, no matter which deal they’re posted on.
- 9,200+ people receive a daily digest of everything posted on Dansdeals.com via Google’s Feedburner service! Bear in mind that with this service you will receive emails a day after a deal is posted, so there’s a decent chance that by the time you get the email the deal will be dead already…which is why I prefer the twitter option. It seems to be a favorite pastime of Feedburner subscribers to email me asking how dare I send them an email of deals after the deal is already dead. At any rate to subscribe just locate the “Google Feedburner” section in the sidebar of this site, enter your email address, and subscribe. You can also use the Feedburner RSS feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/Dansdeals

Dan a great added bonus would be the format that you use for comments on the forums to see the question at the same time you reply with the answer. great for people reviewing the comments section not to have to scroll up every time to try to see what the question was

Maybe have a “Contest of the Week” or “Contest of the Month” would be really cool and definitely a lot of fun for your followers. I remember you did for the tablet which was great. Perhaps, the gifts/prizes don’t have to be too expensive if its going to be happening often. Also, perhaps it will attract more people to be more interactive

heres my issue with the forums, maybe that how all blogs are, i never really looked at one. suppose i want to learn about a hotel in LA or a mileage account, the forum has a thread which has a 70 page convo about that topic. i dont want to spend 3 days reading the entire convo from 4 years ago, i just want to have my question answered etc. am i dealing with the forums wrong?

Right, that’s really why I had a programmer create a Wiki feature for the forums.
The Paris Wiki (linked to in this post) is an incredible resource and the hope is to make a simalar wiki for lots of other threads where you can find info quickly and easily.

In that case it would be best just make a comment that you would love it if someone could add hotel info to the Wiki and hopefully people will contribute!

Very much the truth Steven. I just toured Paris for 12 hours and that wiki was great. Some of it needs fine tuning but thats what were here for. But the basics are there. You can always SEARCH in he search box basic words to your q and either PM someone or just ask it. BUT NEVER START A NEW THREAD till u have searched.
