Which company is better to choose, Dell or HP?
Whichever has the better overall price.
But in quality speaking?
They’re both good quality. The HP warranty rebate is a great deal.
i think HP is better for the money, you get more for less, and the HP components are a drop better IMHO
Is there a Dell deal?
I’m pretty sure the backlit keyboard option is an additional $30.
“If you choose Snow Flake White the system is currently not charging the $10 upgrade fee and that color includes a backlit keyboard for no additional charge!”
Oops. I must have missed that.
The rebate for the warranty is only if after 3 years you do not use it?
Is an upgrade to FHD necessary? 1366 seems low res or is it standard for this 15.6
720p HD is standard, but I’d certainly recommend splurging for the FHD touchscreen.
Thanks, the upgrade is worth is. Im a little wary tho of the touchscreen add on and whether that affects the clarity of the screen/resolution
No effect.
Dan I remember last year you posted smoking hot deal titles on HP laptops. Do you think will see it again this year ?
Tough to say really. Inflation and supply chain issues have meant much higher prices this year. This price is more than last year, but it’s a great price for this year.
You can always buy this now and ask for a price adjustment or cancel/return it if something better comes up.
This is very decently priced for these specs. It’s a fairly fast processor at 2.8 GHz. With inflation and chip shortage at current levels, it’s possible that this is an even better, if not as good a deal as last year’s.
True.
Thanks. Out of the 3 HP posts from today, do you think this is the best deal out of them ?
Yes.
Hp.com seems to suggest 15% restocking fee would apply for a return, which makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. Any idea whether the fee would apply if we decided to return?
If there’s any issue that you have, you don’t pay restock fees…
Also, AMEX cards with return protection cover restocking fees.
AMEX cards with return protection cover restocking fees.
ALL CARDS?
?
No, only the ones with return protection.
For example, the business platinum card.
There was once a post here talking about which cards still have which protections when Amex took away protections from many of the cards
I didn’t select – Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX 201 (2×2) and Bluetooth® 5 combo when I placed the order. I requested to cancel within 24 hours. They replied by email that my cancellation request is in, however, it was not cancelled. They shipped it out, 15 days later, and claim it will incur a restocking fee. How can I return it and not get charge restocking fee? I paid with Chase Freedom via PayPal so do not have AMEX cards’ return protection.
Great deal but the 16:9 screen ratio is a deal breaker for me. After using 16:10 for so long it just doesn’t feel comfortable.
Is this also a good deal?Which would you say is better?
I know the Dell is more expensive, but is it also a better product?
Seems to be out of stock for me, but that’s also a good deal.
Specs look pretty close, though the Dell can’t be upgraded to a touchscreen, has older WiFi, and has a 512GB SSD.
Question about this dell above there is an amex caskback for spend 800 and get 200 back with upgrades with this dell and the amex cashback would the dell be better ot still this HP is better?
It’s sold out. And it’s from Office Depot. So none of that applies.
Seems to be back in stock now.
Just ordered one.
If you select HP LAPTOP – 17Z-CP000 TOUCH and change the ram to 16gb and storage to 1tb hdd and 128 ssd and change networking chip for 1gigabit it will only be $464. And then you will also get touchscreen. And no rebate necessary
That’s not a Core i7 laptop.
And the rebate is only needed if you want to get the warranty.
Thanks, Dan. Just wondering if there’s there a reason why a 3year warranty with accident protection and theft protection is cheaper than accident protection alone.
It’s on sale 🙂
In for one with the FHD touch screen and wifi 6 and Snow White color with the backlight all for just the $60 more = $555+
Thanks Dan…
Great deal!
Get the warranty as well?
I bought the Ryzen 7 version yesterday. With my particular upgrades, comes out a little cheaper ($748 vs $$773). Didn’t have the rebate for the protection but an agent is telling me now that all the CarePacks are really eligible for the rebate, although having a hard time showing me in writing. Even if I could get the warranty, is there any advantage to the Core i7 over the Ryzen 7 that would make it worthwhile to return the other (can’t cancel) and reorder the i7?
The 3-year Accident (not theft) Protection itself is on sale in general, and could be used for any computer, including those purchased within the last year:

Are there any high end 2 in 1 laptops on sale?
Only option is Bright view. Is that an issue?
That’s what you want.
Oh I just saw on the 399 one that there is 80 upgrade from BrightView to anti glare
למה לא נותנים לשלם בכרטיס אשראי ישראלי? כרטיס בינלאומי
Which one is better? 512 SSD or the 512 SSD with 32 Octane
Thank you, Dan!
I’ve been meaning to buy a better laptop for a while but the process confuses & overwhelms me. Thanks to your clear recommendation, I just bought this one.
Hey Dan question will there be good laptop deals on cyber Monday? Or black Friday deals better?

Any good computer gaming chairs from Amazon on sale?
Note about the backlit/snow white option:
Last year when this laptop was on sale I bought two: a gray one that DIDN’t have backlight BUT IT DID HAVE fingerprint unlock which I found VERY useful, and the snow white one DOES NOT have the fingerprint unlock feature, which in hindsight I would forfeit for the ease of fingerprint unlock.
It’s now $499.99
@ Dan – please be honest. Are you posting this because it’s a gr8 deal and you want to help users like myself who are looking for a laptop OR because HP is paying you a commission? Thank you
This is a great deal.
By all means, I challenge you to find a better 11th gen Core i7 laptop deal anywhere.
Is this computer returnable?
How do you get the rebate?
great deal. ty.
the warranty is confusing
accidental and theft also include shows rebate but not 100% as the others do.
and the rebate form
https://www.hp.com/wcsstore/hpusstore/Treatment/FY17-Consumer-PC-Services-Risk-Free-Rebate-Flyer.pdf
does not show this warranty sku U7D16E
Dan, I have the same concern.. were you able to verify the 100% rebate would work for this?
The product page that it’s newly eligible, so I don’t have any reason not to trust that, but I’ll reach out to HP.
In the meantime, just save a screenshot.
Now 529.99
Is this laptpp returnable?
Bought this a few days ago when you first posted it :(. Messaged with hp they said purchase protection doesn’t apply with these sales, so my only option it seems would be to buy this and return the more expensive one… But.. I may have used PayPal… So no purchase protection, It seems I’m out of luck?
if i originally bought it without touch on the 26th, can i modify the order? or do i have to re-order and return?
It is coming up as $549.99 now – am I doing something wrong? Or price increased? Choosing the default specs that the post references should be $529.99
Price went up. I’ll share an update if it goes back down again.
What am I missing, (adding) that is causing it to, now be $559.99:
Specs:
Snow Flake White
Windows 11 Home
Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 (up to 4.7 GHz, 12 MB L3 cache, 4 cores) + Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics

Full-size island-style snow white backlit keyboard with numeric keypad
HP TrueVision HD Camera with integrated dual array digital microphone
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX 201 (2×2) and Bluetooth® 5 combo (Supporting Gigabit file transfer speeds)
Look up 1 comment?
OOOPS, missed that.
Any thoughts on this going back down or should I just pull the trigger at this price?
Anyone possibility HP will honor the lower price after I purchased at the higher price, if I catch a screenshot of the lower price?
Wondering the same
I ordered this like 6 hours ago for $680 USD (with the upgrades) and now it’s $610 USD (with the upgrades. That’s so annoying. Anything I can do to get the $70 back? Besides ordering two and returning one? I don’t think they give price adjustments on these sales.
I bought this on the Hilton Amex Card. Do you think Amex would refund the $70?
I think you would have to reorder/return.
Not sure what they gain by making people’s lives inconvenient in this way.
Either way, UPDATE: it’s back up to $549.99
With added tax, it totals $609. That’s a different story already…
