Update, 9/8/22: JetBlue and Emirates are breaking up after 10/29. As of 9/7, you can only redeem Emirates miles for JetBlue flights that are flown by 10/29. That’s almost certainly due to the upcoming Emirates partnership with United.
Update, 12/12/21: You can now book JetBlue awards on AA.com. Be sure to compare pricing to JetBlue direct and with Emirates!
Update, 11/19/21: You can now call American to book JetBlue award flights. The ability to use AA.com to book JetBlue flights will be added in the coming weeks and the ability to use JetBlue points for AA flights will come later on.
I used ITA Matrix to search for JetBlue award availability in P class for economy and I class for MINT. You can see how to do that in this post about using Emirates miles for JetBlue flights.
After finding sample award space in both cabins from JFK to Las Vegas on 12/14 I called American to see if they could book it. The agent first said they couldn’t book JetBlue, but after I said that I got a message from American saying I could call to book, he agreed to try. After searching through several systems he confirmed that he was able to book or hold the JetBlue flight in economy for 12.5K miles or in MINT for 50K miles!

In November, American will add the ability to book travel on nearly all JetBlue flights, excluding their flights to London.
Below is what American will charge for those flights. While JetBlue economy partner award space is somewhat stingy, their MINT partner award space is excellent. Unfortunately, American isn’t going to let those seats go for cheap. They will charge the same as they do for partner first class awards and they will tack on a 15K surcharge on MINT routes between Los Angeles or San Francisco, and Boston, Fort Lauderdale, JFK, Miami, Newark, or West Palm Beach, which are found in the tier 2 chart below.
You can combine JetBlue flights with American and other partner airline flights. Below is what one-way awards including JetBlue flights will cost to/from the US48.
Economy | Tier 1 MINT flights and connecting first class travel. | Tier 2 MINT flights and connecting first class travel. | |
---|---|---|---|
US48 and Canada | 12.5K | 50K | 65K |
Alaska | 15K | 55K | 70K |
Hawaii | 22.5K | 80K | 95K |
Caribbean, Mexico, Central America | 17.5K | 52.5K | 67.5K |
South America Region 1 | 20K | 55K | 70K |
South America Region 2 | 30K | 85K | 100K |
Europe | 30K | 85K | 100K |

Asia Region 2 | 37.5K | 110K | 125K |
South Pacific | 40K | 110K | 125K |
You can use Emirates miles or American miles to book JetBlue award flights. While Emirates has a distance based award chart, American is a region based on award chart. Below is a comparison of what they will charge for one-way flights on various routes.

I dont understand the 2 charts whats the main difference
SAN-JFK MINT seems excellent at 50K!
You posted JFK-Caribbean destinations for 12.5K. Based on the chart they should be 17.5K
Jet Blue using AA points EWR TO PBI? 12.5 economy?
I use to make .50 amazon reloads with my citi rewards+ card and got a lot of points. But they lately changed the way you reload which isn’t practical anymore. You need add the load to cart and then do checkout which means that the page changes 3 times by each load and takes much more time. So need to other places to reload.
Does it mean that the price of business award travel to Israel will be at least 115K if it includes a domestic JebBlue leg?
In MINT? Yes.
Hey what do I do If tsa stole some of my stuff from my bag
Hi dan di you not pick LA or SAN for a reason? is there an mint availability?
Random.
Can you use JetBlue travel vouchers on AA?
The other way around. It’s much easier to pile up Trueblue pojnts than AA points. How good/bad will the conversion be to use JB points to book AA flights?
TBD.
fyi only. Been trying to book an CUN-EWR flight. Called twice now and unable to find availability to use AA miles to book the Jetblue flight. Still not able to book online as of writing and agent I spoke to had no idea when that might be implemented.
Last agent said she had a memo:
Phase 1: Nov 18th Domestic Flights can be Booked on Jetblue with AA miles. I confirmed the above datapoint that JFK-LAS on 12/14/21 is available.
Phase 2: “Other Regions” (which would include Cancun) in the near future can be Booked on Jetblue with AA miles. I could not get a response whether near is 1 week or 1 month or longer, etc.
Still don’t see EWR to PBI on AA direct flights via JetBlue.
Trying to see JetBlue on AA.com – SAN-FLL — no joy.
Do domestic fares include carry-on?
What is preferable in terms of service, type of airplane, as well as mileage, booking AA, or JB (same time, same price)?
