Many airlines (including American, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest) are offering free changes though numerous airports due to Ida, with the difference in fare waived if you travel on select dates.
However, United is taking the highly unusual step of offering a full cash refund and waiver of cancellation fees on all tickets to/from/through Newark for travel today or tomorrow, as long as the ticket was purchased before today!
This includes non-refundable travel in any class, including basic economy and for all award travel.
Alternatively you can rebook flights to/from/through Newark that were scheduled for travel today or tomorrow through September 10th without paying any difference in fare or miles.
This appears to be United’s first level 3 waiver (full refunds allowed) since January 2020…
It’s another reason why I always say to wait to cancel flights you won’t take until just before departure, in case the flight is cancelled, changed, or a travel waiver is announced.
Did you have any travel booked through Newark today or tomorrow?
