Effective today you can now transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points into Air Canada Aeroplan miles at a 1:1 ratio:
Air Canada brought the Aeroplan program in-house last November and eliminated fuel surcharges.
They will also launch a co-brand Chase card in the US and you can register to get 10K bonus miles on top of the launch offer here.
Air Canada can book Star Alliance awards and awards on other partner airlines like Canadian North, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, GOL, and Virgin Australia. Plus, unlike US carriers, they are committed to keeping award charts.
For example, while United now charges 15K miles for a last-minute Cleveland to Newark flight, Aeroplan charges just 6K miles as per their short-haul award chart.
Aeroplan also has business class awards to Tel Aviv on Air Canada from 56K miles, or even less for cardholders. Hopefully Chase Air Canada cardholders will also get discounted redemptions.
Air Canada also allows stopovers for 5K miles and you can build round-the-world tickets and more.
A big benefit of booking with Air Canada is free lap child awards within the US/Canada and just C$25 for a lap child anywhere in the world! That’s a massive savings compared to booking with US airlines.
You can also transfer points from AMEX or Capital One to Air Canada Aeroplan. I’d imagine those options will remain in place for the time being, but it remains to be seen if they will renew those contracts in the future.
For now, that means you can combine points from AMEX, Capital One, or Chase into Air Canada to reach an award ticket. Plus Air Canada allows families to pool their miles together!

Very positive, but if only they’d add LifeMiles and Qantas like the others have (Turkish would be great too…)…
Also, what is the source of this:
“Aeroplan also has business class awards to Tel Aviv on Air Canada from 56K miles, or even less for cardholders.”
Their chart and web tool don’t display anything under 70K, and I’ve never seen any availability that low either.

How is Cathay a partner? They’re part of OW.
Airlines can partner with any airline they want.
Really? I always thought that only non-alliance airlines can do that, whereas alliance airlines can only partner on their own with non-alliance airlines. Otherwise, if you think about it, the alliances don’t mean as much.
Are there lots of other examples of 2 airline in different alliances partnering with each other?
Keep in mind, Air Canada has been one of the worst actors with COVID-19 refunds.
While other airlines were stingy, they generally paid up when a passenger filed a DOT complaint for a refund due to a flight cancelled by the airline. But not Air Canada.
I know they there didn’t give refunds at the beginning, but I actually got a refund a few weeks ago from a canceled flight from last October without even filing a complaint, be advised that they are still the worst when it comes to covid rules, like social distance and masking, whenever I flew with them during covid you were able to feel the pressure in the air…
A major blow to Amex points, now you don’t need any more amex points, chase is more worth and has all the benefits of amex plus yearly fee on chase is much smaller
Well Amex still has quite a few solid partners not on Chase: ANA, Qantas (El Al and certain AA domestic flights, etc.), LifeMiles, Etihad.
I think the real change will be if Citi keeps AA for good (then they’ll have AA, Virgin, Turkish, Qantas, LifeMiles, FB, Etihad, Singapore, etc. all decently solid).
Hyatt is really the only key differentiator at Chase, they still haven’t really made up for losing Amtrak and Korean.
It seems that chase picks the month of August for adding airline transfer partners. The 1st time was back on Aug. 25, 2018 when they removed Korean air & added jet Blue. The 2nd time was on August 25, 2019 when they added Emirates & now for the 3rd time its Air Canada.
Transfers instantly, correct?
