What a difference a month makes!
In just the past month President Trump announced a peace deal between the United Arab Emirates and Israel, El Al brought an Israeli and American delegation to Abu Dhabi, where the red carpet was rolled out, and a deal with Saudi Arabia was announced to allow Israeli airlines to use their airspace to fly anywhere in the world. Commercial flights between Israel and the UAE may happen as soon as next month. And President Trump announced a peace deal between Bahrain and Israel.
Now, the Jerusalem Post writes that direct flights will be established between Israel and Morocco!
The Times of Israel reports that this may be an interim step before the country officially normalizes their relationship with Israel.
Currently, a flight between Tel Aviv and Casablanca means a 10+ hour ordeal via Europe. A nonstop flight will take less than 6 hours.
Morocco has been on my bucket list since reading this DDF Trip Report. You can find the DDF Master Thread on Morocco here.
This will also open up a great way to fly between the US and Israel!
A flight from JFK to Casablanca takes less than 7 hours, making it a much more practical connection point than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, which are 13 hour flights.
There are bargains to fly on Royal Air Maroc using AA or Etihad miles.
If they offer nonstop flights to Tel Aviv you’ll be able to fly from North America via Casablanca, where you can stopover and explore or just get on a connecting flight to Israel. With excellent award space in coach and business class, this could be an incredible way to use American or other OneWorld partner miles to fly to Israel!
Would you fly to Israel via Morocco?

Sure, if the price is right, why not?
Yes
absolutely!
How does Air Maroc compare to Etihad?
Why compare it to stopovers in the UAE?
Business class from JFK is excellent, but RAM doesn’t have a first class like Etihad and Emirates.
I’m comparing the soon to be available connection points thanks to these new deals.
Prepare to have your luggage delayed or lost
Currently Any kosher restaurants ?
But is it safe?
Algeria would be great news
Algeria is very much a non tourist country, not welcoming to most ppl.

@dan I’ve been to Morocco and I must say it is amazing in every way I would be super excited to fly there again and stay a while then head over to Israel:)
definitely!
I would do this and tour Morocco before or after, but first Israel has to open their borders!
I think you are getting carried away. The *people* of these countries despise us. Why would you take a risk? It’s not like they meraculously love us now that their dictator made peace with Israel.
Morroco respect jews
Morroco respects money and Jews have money which the spend when on vacations. Israelis are another thing……
Sure will, hoped for this for a long time.
Finally a Morocco trip on the way to ISL will make sense.
